Oh my gosh look at that! I updated so quickly AGAIN! I'm so proud of myself! YAY!
Well enjoy because it's mind blowing AGAIN...or at least to me it is^^ I really surprise myself with this one while laughing hard, a reviewer said that she knows what was going to happen but we'll see hehhe!
Ch.14 The light in the darkness
Holding the clipboard tightly to her chest, she walked quickly down the halls, her heels clicking as she went. The archways were busy with shouts of people talking and laughing, phone calls in different languages, and people of many different cultures all in one area working together.
She smiled so much had changed over the span of time, and for the better to, at one point she thought things would have gone sour for them all. Arriving to the end of the hall to massive oak doors, she knocked twice before entering.
And like usual, there her boss stood arms crossed looking out at the company through the large glass window, face blank with eyes in a trance, like they were in the distance past. In the corner was a boy happy coloring, yammering on and on about one thing or another before he would get up and rush over to the window. The young boy would look up at his parent, and then mimic the pose, but with a wide grin and bright eyes.
When she first saw this scene it reminded her of Lion King, where Mufasa sat and watched the pride lands and Simba sitting next to him…
One day, Simba, the sun will set on my time here, and will rise with you as the new king.
And this'll all be mine?
Everything.
Everything the light touches...
She remembered hearing a very similar conversation, she was sure that Kazimir will be a very good boss, but he had a long way until that time, and she was sure her boss would make sure Kazimir didn't have to go down the hard road like Simba had to.
"Your 9 o'clock is here." She cuts in as her boss nods and turns, simmering green eyes locked onto hers. It wasn't until her 3 month here that she understand her boss's eyes always seemed to simmer, just below boiling, always ready to erupt. The only time those eyes soften is when they look at Kazimir.
"Thank you Pan." Plump peach color lips smiled softly. "How do I look? Don't want to give them the wrong impression, now do we?"
"No, ma'am you look beautiful as always." Pan complimented. "Plus who would dare talk against the Baba Yaga?"
Baba Yaga was something the company and employees were proud to call her…Boogeyman...She earned the name just right after the divorce of her first and only husband.
Terra Volkov, formally known as Terra Lacewell, gave a wolfish smirk living up to her last name, her simmering emerald green eyes gave a dangerous spark. "Exactly." She grabbed her son's hand and the three walked out into the halls.
Pan, watched as the halls laughing people all made it a point to greet their boss, Terra nods and gave a small greeting of her own. The people who worked with her adored her and Kazimir, giving a small sigh Pan looked to the 28 year old woman and gave a sad smile, she remember when she first meet the young girl that was given a billion dollar company, the poor thing looked worn and sad but filled with determination.
Now reaching her late 40's, Pan felt the girl was like her own daughter, watching her grow into something any mother would be proud of but she was helpless as she watched Terra close herself off after that nasty divorced, and she became worried.
Terra had been so young then trying to get over the one she left behind; Pan use to spend many nights holding that crying girl, and when she met Kazimir father, Evgeni Volkov, they both thought this could be it this could be her chance to move on! For a time everything was perfect the Sabaku automobiles company was running smoothly, reaching new heights with Terra's ideas, she was engaged and finally married after two years, but it all was a sham.
He only wanted her for her newfound money, when he and his family hear that the Sabaku Company had a new owner, a young inexperienced girl, they quickly jumped at the chance to try and take the company. When Terra found out she was devastated, she may have not gave him her full heart she still gave him spot in it, but when he even went as far as going to take her two year old son from her, Terra snapped.
A quick call to Deidara and Itachi they hired as damn good ass lawyer and she ruined Evgeni, taking everything he and his family had, right down to the Vodka Company that has been in his family for over 100 years. She was tired of people using her for their own gain, she soon became force to be reckon with.
A German beer distiller tried to do the same thing when they found out she took her ex-husband Vodka Company, saying women knew nothing of good liquor, that the company wasn't a winery. She took their company, even going as far as to opening up winery in Rome to mock them. She then took a jewelry company in Paris when they claimed that she was nothing but little girl in a big kids game, of course the owner that said this didn't know she was behind him at some Big Gala when he said this, naturally by the end of the night unknown to him she bought out his company.
A similar thing happen to a fashion line when they mocked what she wore on more than several occasion, but she wasn't bothered by them until they mocked her son, making suggestion about what kind of boy he is because of what he wore, she was quick to snatch up with company and laughed at their shocked faces.
Terra then made it known to the world, that if they didn't have anything nice to say, 'shut it or I'll end and own everything you hold dear, simple as that" that earned her the name of Baba Yaga, the boogeyman. She felt proud of that title because no more would she bow down or be ran over, she now had the power.
"Good even gentlemen," Terra greeted as she walked into the conference room with her son and Pan right behind her. She pulled out as chair for her son as he plopped into it. "Don't mind Kazimir, I feel its best they learn now when they're young, while its still fun." She smiled looking up at the two uncomfortable men.
"No, no Ms. Volkov, I agree the best time to teach any child is why they still see things as a game." The man that spoke was short and chubby, he was sweating considerably.
"Yes exactly!" She walked to her bar in the back of the room and pulled out a body of crown royal apple whisky, pouring herself a glass she then pour two glasses of good old fashion royal for the gentlemen, sliding it down the table to them.
"Thank you," The second man smiled, he was younger than the first man, tall and lean very dashing.
Terra leaned back in seat sipping her drink as reached over and smoothed back her son's hair. "So tell me, why are you here today?" she asked in a bored tone.
"Ah yes, yes" the squat man cough as he dabbed his forehead. "We like to merge your Oil Company back in America with our in South America."
She took a long drink rolling the liquor on her tongue as she stared at them making them shift in uncertainty. "What can you offered me that I don't already have? Or can get on my own?"
"We can help with more exports and higher profits, you're sitting on a relatively large amount, and yet your company is so small." The younger man spoke in almost confusion.
Terra looked over to Pan who was trying to suppress a smile as she shook her head, they didn't understand, and Terra was already quick to see what they're hopes were. "Gentlemen, I own one Beer and Vodka distillery, one Winery, a Jewelry store, with the diamond mines, an automobile company and lastly a fashion line to call my own."
She stood up and walked over to them. "Liquor, wine, clothes, jewelry and sexy cars." She smirked as she leaned over the talk across from them. "What more could a girl want?" She chuckles. "The oil, company is just a project nothing I wish to truly invest in, I know who I can win a fight against, I am the Baba Yaga, but there is one monster that I won't even touch; and that is the Oil companies, you boys should know that!" She hissed.
"You think just because, I own many different high dollar companies that I should just keep going, that is greed my friends and greed is what make people fall, I have what I want and I need nothing else. The kingdom you see, is not for me. A parent never just builds a nest for just them, and I attend to make sure that there will be something left over for when I'm dead and gone."
She leans up with a glare. "Kazimir, tell them what I always tell you."
The young 7 year old nods eagerly. "The oil company rules the world, and we are the people living in that world, just because we have oil doesn't mean I will rule too. My company's Oil is just for that, my company, we fuel our own ships and factories or any other thing we need, as long as we don't take away from the Kings we shall live." He looked to his mother with a wide smile, knowing he said everything like just as she told him.
"Very well spoken my love." She smiled walking back to him, his bright golden eyes of his father was the only thing he inherited, thanks goodness, she kissed his head, and pulled him down from the chair.
"Can I do it this time?" He asked excitedly.
"Most certainly."
Kazimir turned to the men and smiled. "Thank you gentleman but you are dismissed." He then turned and walked away before running and hugging his mother legs. "Good?"
"Better, you did excellent!" She beamed.
"Should you be drinking so heavy this late?" Terra looked over her shoulder to see Pan smiling, with her won glass of wine and her heels kicked off.
"I can say the same for you." Terra smiled wiggling her own toes that were free from the torment of heels, her own glass was filled with vodka from her own company 'Baba Yaga' she named it after herself as a jab to her ex-husband. Looking back to her view she sighed seeing her son laying asleep under all his covers his toy littered the room his autumn colored hair tousled like a little rats nest, Terra never felt so in love before.
Her mother use to say that having your heart walking around outside your body was like dying at every second or every day, Terra never knew what she meant, but now, now she knew that she meant her and her brother. She understood that Kazimir was her heart and to have him walking around scared her to her core, there was so many worries and fears and every time he got hurt it was like dying.
"Pan…am I doing this right?" Terra looked at her assistance who was more like a mother. Pan sipped her wine before curling her hand close to her chest and shrugged.
"No parent knows what they're doing, they all hope and pray that they are doing the best they can." She replied softly. "But I never had kids, but that what my sister always said mom told her. There's no really instruction guide for children, if so then maybe the world wouldn't be so fucked up."
"I feel like I'm hurting him in a way, that I'm not doing something right." Terra groans.
"Show me one parent that was never worried that they were doing something right or wrong." She looked over to the younger girl. "And if you do, they're lying through their teeth."
"You're supposed to tell me I'm doing great job Pan." Terra laughed sipping her liquor as she pushed off the wall going into Kazimir's room.
"You didn't ask if you were doing a good job." Terra glared over her shoulder and Pan smiled. "You asked if you were doing this right, and no one really knows if they are."
"Oh aren't you smart." The young woman mutters earning her a giggle from Pan. Sitting down at the edge of the tiny bed Terra leans down kissing her son's tiny head running her fingers through his hair.
Once she left the room closing the door softly she sighed trudging over to her office and plopped down in her chair looking at the stacks of papers. Finishing her glass she grumbles as she pulled the closest stack to her and begin leafing through it only to have it yanked from her.
"Argh remind me why I asked you to live with me?" Terra groans as Pan smirks.
"Because of this reason here, and you wanted more time with your son." Pan pulled up the girl and pushed her to the door. "So, I been meaning to tell you…" she trialed off.
"Tell me what?"
"You're Aunt called again…"
"Oh, I see…"
"You see is that all you can say?" Pan snipped as she twirled the younger girl around, who looked away shamefully. "Your family miss you Terra and it's not like they can come visit you when you live in Russia! Your Aunt and Katy are having their baby showers, this is Katy's first baby and your Aunt's first son; you need to be there you missed the last baby shower."
"But I made the birth date!" She gasps. "I wouldn't miss my God daughter birth!"
"Oh but you'll miss her baby shower?"
Sitting down on the bed groan she pulled the pillow over her head only to have Pan yank it back.
"Stop pouting and face your family!"
"I'm not pouting Pan I have much to do."
"You are pouting and isolating yourself. Terra I can't say that I understand what you're going through but you need to stop hiding away from everyone happiness." She glared.
"I'm not!" Terra huffs looking away.
"So when Katy and Kabuto got married you disappearing just after the reception started, had nothing to do with seeing them happy while you weren't?"
Looking at Pan, Terra glared harder as the older woman continued. "Oh how about your Aunt and Uncles first born, hmm you missed their baby shower only popping up for holidays and birthdays for just an hour or two then you leave…none of your family had seen Kazimir since he was three that was four years ago! Go visit your family and you are not allow back until three weeks later."
Rubbing the back of her neck Terra bit her lip, all what Pan said was true she couldn't stand seeing everyone's happiness while she just living and making a life for her son. She wasn't mean to them or bitter but seeing them it hurt her, always leaving her thinking what could have been with her and Gaara. Would they have gotten married, would Kazimir have been his with red hair or teal eyes? So many what ifs and she couldn't seem to get over the feel when she was with them so she stayed away.
As if hearing her thoughts Pan replied. "It's time to stop, no more of this." Leaning over the older woman pushed the younger woman back into her bed and tucked her in like a child. "The longer you stay away the worst it will get and I won't have a bitter old bat as a boss and I'm sure you don't want to be that for Kazimir, it's time for the big girl panties." She gave a quick sharp popped of her fingers into Terra's forehead. "Now sleep."
"Ow bitch!" Terra laughed rubbing her head.
"I said sleep!"
"Relax I got everything!" Pan smiled watching as Terra did her best not to get into the limo, the girl was more nervous now than when she was about to get married.
"Just make sure they get that order in, I want the holiday special out before this weekend." Terra stood up again only to have Pan push her down and back into the limo.
"I know I got it!" She shook her head and slammed the door.
"Oh!" Terra rolled down the window. "If Mr. Aikawa calls again, tell him the answer is still no!"
"Argh alright woman! I know…"Pan snapped before frowning. "Though I don't understand why you won't just talk to the man?" No one ever seen the face of Mr. Aikawa, he only ever talks through his assistant, but he was a very renowned Sport car company and a high in investor who taken interest in every one of Terra's companies.
"He's nothing but a stuck up rich a-hole…." Terra looked over her shoulder to her son, but he was still fast asleep, it was still too early for the young child. "He is just someone who just wants me for my money or take my businesses away from me. Why else would he be interested in all of my businesses, his company is sports cars why not only invest in Sabaku?"
The older woman pursed her lips together, Terra been hurt so many times, that her walls were high and heavily guarded. "Maybe he sees how you're able to balance them all and want to follow your example, just because there been a few bad apple doesn't mean the tree is rotten."
Sigh Terra nodded. "I know and I understand, but no one ever seen his face and that makes me worry so the answer is still no….oh since I'll be in America set up a meeting with...
"No its family only!" Pan snapped banging the top of the limo. "Sunny make sure they get there safely." She called to the driver as he waved and pulled off leaving Terra to flip her the bird from the window. "Haha love you too!" she waved.
Sighing as she sat back rolling up her windowing, Terra looked down to her sleeping child and stroked his cheek softly, his golden skin a mixture of her mocha color and his father pale tone, autumn color hair and golden eye. He was her tiny angle, so innocent and bright, her shining light in her dark world.
"Back home it is then…" She murmurs looking out the window. Back to America a place she avoid since her mother's death.
