Roxas watched her from across the room. He was trying to hold his position on a white chair in front of her as she scribbled furiously across the page of her sketchpad with various crayons.
Naminé looked up, smiling a brief yet cheeky smile before looking back down at her notepad to continue drawing.
"Can I see it yet?" Roxas whined. This was taking forever!
"Just be quiet and stay still a little while longer," Naminé urged.
Roxas moaned. "I've been here forever!"
She giggled. "You're so cute."
Roxas rolled his eyes but took the chance to have a look while she was too busy drawing. Craning his neck, he tried to see over the pad that she was holding in her arm. It was practically vertical but maybe if he just. A purple crayon thumped into his temple.
"I said to sit still," Naminé said, not looking up from her pad.
"Sorry." He rubbed his head. She had quite the arm for such a dainty little thing.
"We're even if you just stop moving; I'm nearly finished."
"So…" Roxas tried to keep perfectly still, excluding his mouth. "Where's Axel then?"
Naminé smirked, still drawing, and said, "I needed to get him to cool off."
"Naminé!" Axel roared as the polar bears circled his shivering body. Icicles were forming on his nostrils and he wasn't sure if he could move his feet anymore. "I'll get you back for this!"
"Do I want to know?" Roxas laughed nervously.
Naminé pondered the thought, placing her finger on her chin. Her almost porcelain-like skin looked so delicate. "Hmmm… nope."
Roxas tried to think of a new topic. "So…" Damn, this was hard. Well, there was that. "Why did you never do anything with Sora?"
She giggled and then looked up. "Oh, you were serious. Sora wasn't meant for me."
Roxas raised an eyebrow. He wasn't sure what she meant but a quick crayon to the face corrected his brow before she went back to drawing. "Is that the only reason?"
Naminé froze and looked up. "I don't know, is it?"
"I asked you." She was acting stupid. This was so frustrating! He was just going to leave.
Naminé toyed with a black crayon, moving it between her fingers menacingly. "I told you to sit still."
Roxas flinched, holding up his hands. "Okay, okay."
Naminé tossed the crayon at him suddenly. He clenched his eyes shut and held his position until he heard a tap from behind. She'd thrown it at the wall. "You're so shy and timid, Roxas. You need to man up."
Naminé growled in frustration, clenching the crayon in her hand. "Stop apologising!"
Roxas sat quietly for a few more minutes before she finally broke the silence.
"Okay, I'm just about done," she chirped.
Roxas watched her move the right side of her blonde hair behind her ear so she could get a better view with those grey-blue eyes of hers. "So how're you so beautiful and no one is holding your hand?"
She didn't reply. In fact, she didn't even acknowledge him, she just continued to sketch. How could he have said something like that? Why had he been so stupid? She was still sketching dammit! When would this torture end?
"I'm waiting for the right guy." She grabbed a yellow crayon and began to colour.
"Who is this guy?"
Naminé shrugged. "Tall, dark and handsome." Naminé grabbed a white crayon, scratching away at the paper.
"Oh…" Roxas felt flattened.
"But, short, skinny and blonde might work too," Naminé mused.
Roxas wasn't sure what she meant by that? It was probably pity. He lamented that he'd said something so embarrassing until she broke him from his thoughts.
Roxas burst to his feet, grabbing her hand as she looked up from the sketchpad. "I want to be the one holding your hand." It was now or never. He was already in deep. He pulled her to her feet, but wasn't sure what to do next.
"Go on…" Naminé whispered, closing her eyes.
Roxas looked around. He wasn't sure why but he was so nervous. "Can I—?"
Naminé laughed. "Shut up and stay still."
Leaning forward, she kissed him. The notepad fell from her hand and clattered to the floor. The scene she had been drawing, of them, was depicted on the fallen notepad but it was so much better in real life because she was smiling so much more and when she smiled, he just felt something so special. "I can't believe it took you this long." Naminé rested her forehead against his, her eyes still closed.
"I didn't know you were free," Roxas said, a little embarrassed.
"I think that's a good thing." She looked up, pondering the thought before kissing him again.
