Sadly, I do not own Harry Potter.

May 2025

Ginny pulled off her cloak as soon as she had shut the door, and threw it in the air. Her aim was dead on, and she grinned. Seven years playing chaser for one of the top teams taught you a lot about hand-eye co-ordination.

She walked through to the kitchen, where she was suprised to see Harry already, his Auror robes thrown over the back of the chair. He was reading something, with his brow furrowed.

"Hey, you," she said.

He looked up and smiled. "Hey." Even after what was nearly twenty-five years of marriage, he could still make her heart jump excitedly. She walked over to him and kissed him on the cheek.

"What're you reading?"

"Letter from McGonnagal. Apparently Lily has been practising her colour-changing charms on her fellow students."

Ginny sighed. "Again?"

"Seems like it."

"Why does that merit another letter home? Last time it happened, it wore off pretty quickly."

"Well, it appears that the student in question tried to undo the charm and made it permanent."

Ginny had to work hard to stifle a giggle, and was not entirely successful.

"Don't laugh! It's not funny!"

Ginny raised her eyebrows. "It is a bit funny. She knows what she's doing, I'll give her that."

"I don't-"

"Anyway, that sounds like the idiot who tried to change it's fault, not Lily's."

"But-"

"Granted, she shouldn't be hexing people. But Harry, doesn't she remind you of someone?"

"You?"

Ginny grinned again. "Touche. Actually I was going to say you."

"I don't follow..."

"Don't you remember your sixth year?"

"Vividly. Especially the bits with you," Harry said, leaning down to kiss her on the lips. When he pulled away they were both smiling.

"You're not talking your way out that easy. I meant when you found... that book, and made yourself very popular trying out those spells on unsuspecting students."

"Oh yeah," Harry said, remembering with a grin. "They were all people who I disliked for a long time. I don't remember ever hexing someone because they were walking slowly."

"Is that why she did it?" Ginny asked, laughing and reaching for the letter. "Wow. She really got my temper, didn't she?"

"You never hexed anyone for walking slowly."

"I nearly did. A few times. What?" Harry was laughing at her now.

"She's just like the pair of us put together," he said, chuckling.

"Only more volatile," Ginny said. "Do you ever think... I don't know... like we messed up with her? Maybe we should have tried to stop her from this sort of thing when she was little? Do you ever think... we did something wrong?"

Harry looked her right in the eyes. "Do you think we messed up?"

"Absolutely not," Ginny said, straight away. "I'm glad she can take care of herself. I'm glad she doesn't take any crap from anyone. And she always stands up for people in trouble, and I think that's better than having some swotty Ravenclaw for a kid."

"Me too."

"Good," Ginny said, smiling.

"Hey," Harry said, moving in closer, and taking her in his arms. "Do you think we have time before meeting Ron and Hermione for dinner to..."

CRACK

Ginny was gone. Harry looked around confused: how did he not apparate with her... was that even possible?

"I'm waiting," he heard her voice from upstairs, and grinned, spinning on the spot and disappearing from the kitchen.

So, I've been playing around with a new next-gen fanfiction idea, which hopefully I can start properly when I finish my other fic, Friendship Often Ends in Love. (If I ever finish it. Revision and exams call unfortunately) But this little chapter is just a hint towards what will hopefully come in the future.

Sorry it's taken me so unbelievably long to update.

Peace, love, life,
