title: Road to Sakura
pairing: possible eventual SasuSaku.
summary: She hadn't expected to win, but she hadn't expected to lose either because all she had thought about was giving this battle her all. But when she won and lost both at the same time, she hadn't not given it a thought at all when she punched Uchiha Sasuke square in the jaw.
notes: Well, I updated this earlier than I thought I would. Thank the summary, guys. It's because I thought up such a wonderful summary that I updated today! LOL, you guys haven't been reviewing! I didn't even get one review on the last chapter, though I did get a lot of favorites thanks to the last chapter. But please you guys, REVIEW! My last chapter had no reviews... :(

Road to Sakura
"My face turned red and my shocked eyes got big
My nervous lips were blue like the waves
I could not say anything
Because I was so shocked
I was thinking whether I should get mad or laugh"
Sakura hadn't actually gone against a guy since her days at the academy and, even then, her teachers had pitted her mostly against girls because, as they had put it, guys were naturally stronger than girls were. However, she had bested all her female classmates, and so her teachers had her go against some of the guys. Not much to their surprise, Sakura had beaten almost every guy in her class—it was an almost because some of her battles weren't exactly fair because Shikamaru had been a little too enthusiastic going up against her, Kiba had been too preoccupied purring, and Naruto had been too busy trying to pull a prank. It was an almost because she had truly only lost to one guy. It was an almost because, though it had been a tie, Sakura had seen it as a lost. After all, how could she tie with pretty boy Uchiha Sasuke who practically didn't give a care?
That was the old her. However, Sakura still saw this match as her rematch, her one chance to show that she was indeed the best out of her class. But all arrogance put aside, she knew that Sasuke had gotten better just as she had, so she didn't know if she would actually win. When the proctor started, she truly didn't know . . . that is, until Sasuke kept on baiting her. It was as if he didn't take her seriously! Part of her thought that he was trying to blind her with anger, but the other part told her that he was just asking for a beating. Sakura wished she had listened to the latter because, though she had followed her kunoichi instincts and carefully assessed her situation, she should have pummeled him into next month! But no, she hadn't. She had done everything to the book, and that was her mistake. That was what Sasuke had been waiting for.
It had been already half an hour into their battle, and she hadn't noticed that Sasuke wasn't using his sharingan. That was the tall-tale sign that he wasn't taking their battle seriously, that he wasn't giving his all, and that he had already known her next moves like the back of his hand. But Sakura hadn't noticed, and she played right into his trap.
As soon as she lost visual of him, Sasuke had appeared right in front of her and KISSED her!
It was an understatement to say that Sakura had been surprised or shocked. Her mind went blank. Uchiha Sasuke had kissed her in front of everyone! The crowd had gone silent (except for the "That's my cousin!" comment from Shisui in the stands), and Sakura practically fell to the floor as if she had been punched instead of kissed.
"And that's all I needed," Sasuke had whispered into her ear right after the kiss. He took a step back and smirked before raising his left hand.
"Uchiha Sasuke has surrendered!" the proctor announced, speaking as if he had been the only one not fazed by Sasuke's impromptu kiss. "Haruno Sakura is the winner!"
Sakura didn't remember if the crowd had continued to say silent or if they had exploded into applause. All she remembered was her cry of frustration, and then the proctor and a few of the sensei prying her feral self off of Sasuke. See, Sakura hadn't expected to win, but she hadn't expected to lose either because all she had thought about was giving this battle her all. But when she won the battle and lost her first kiss both at the same time, she hadn't not given it a thought at all when she punched Uchiha Sasuke square in the jaw and proceeded to wrestle him to the ground, kicking him and practically ripping his shirt to shreds. After all, a guy can't just steal a girl's first kiss and expect to get away if it...
"Don't make fun of me because I'm young
I couldn't talk because I was shy
Don't make fun of me because I'm young
It's just words that pass by"
