Crazy in Love

Chapter 1

Bella's POV

BOOM!

A bright flash of lightening went through the sky as rough waves churned the choppy ocean, a storm came in fast and once it hit I was too close to the shore. No matter how hard I try to swim deeper into the ocean to look for the safety of a secluded cave away from prying human eyes I just get pulled closer and closer to the beach shore.

I know what you're wondering 'Why do you need to stay away from humans? Aren't you human?' and no I am not human, I'm a mermaid and I can't let anyone see me since they would immediately realize what I am by my blood red tail.

A huge wave hits and the current drags me onto the shore. My tail gets completely covered by seaweed, sand, and heavy driftwood pinning me down. Most older and more experienced mermaids could just turn their tails into legs which would help me get freed but I haven't yet mastered such skills, panicking I try to focus on transforming my lower half but got nowhere with my efforts. I try to tug myself free and back to the water but can't even budge an inch.

"Hey girl! Are you stupid? Why would you try to swim during a storm?!" A mans deep voice shouted. I gasped at his sudden appearance and looked up into his eyes unsure if I should reply or not. He had deep brown almost black eyes that seemed to be simmering with anger. But 2 seconds after looking into each other's eyes the anger was gone replaced by love, curiosity, and amazement. But as soon as those emotions were there they were gone again. And in their place anger came back along with bewilderment and shame. He turned around and started walking away from me.

"Hey wait!" I called out desperately. I need help getting the driftwood off me, then before he knows what's happening I can dive back into the water.

"What?" he replied angrily.

"Can you help me get out from under this driftwood? I seem to be stuck."

"Well whose fault is that? Oh right the idiot who tried to go swimming during a dangerous storm." He sneered.

"Please?" I ask brokenly. His face had a flash of pain go across it so quickly I'm not sure if I imagined it or not but it was quickly covered up with annoyance.

"Help your own damn self." He replied "I will just be over here enjoying the show." With that he proceeded to sit on a piece of driftwood.

"Jerk!" I shouted at him angrily before continuing to struggle to pull my tail out from under everything, several moments later of digging my hands threw the surrounding sand and tugging at the wood I finally managed to tug my tail free from its previous confines. I heard the angry looking male gasp in shock when he noticed my tail.

"Wha-?" But before he could finish talking I had already dove back into the security of the water and started swimming away from him quickly without even glancing back. I thought I would be glad to get away from the unhelpful male but for some reason all I felt was pain and a tugging sensation in my chest.
