The rain poured down on ten-year-old Lucy Heartfilia's head. She covered her head with her arms and tried to pull her thin coat tighter around her shoulders. Her feet hit the pavement hard as she continued to run through the rain.

Tears blurred her vision and her lower lip wobbled. She couldn't believe her father at the moment. Earlier that day, he had called her in to discuss an arranged marriage. What the hell was he tinking? She was only ten years old! But the thing was, this wasn't really much of a surprise. Her father had upset her like this many other times too. He was always telling her what she had to do with her life, and yet, he didn't pay any attention to her.

Lucy's mother had died six years ago, so she didn't exactly remember much about her, but she felt things would be different if her mother was still alive. All Lucy really knew about her mom was that she was a celestial wizard. Lucy had always wanted to obtain celestial magic so that she could unlock all 12 gold keys. But she knew that becoming a mage now would probably be impossible.

Lucy continued to stagger around, completely lost in the rain. She had absolutely no idea where she was headed to, just that it had to be far away from her home. From her father. Tonight, she had tried something risky. Something she had never done before, but something she had wanted to do for a while. She ran away.

Thunder rumbled, lightning flashed, and Lucy continued to wander around, tears falling down her cheeks. She honestly hand no idea where to go. What would she do after this? She couldn't go home, obviously. But where else could she go?

Lucy took one more step forward, but fell to the damp ground from exhaustion. It had to be at least midnight by now. She whimpered and crawled over to a nearby tree, needing to be covered by some sort of shelter. Suddenly, the rain came down to a drizzle and eventually stopped entirely. Lucy sighed in relief.

As she looked up at the night sky, she noticed all the stars twinkling above. She had always loved the stars. Maybe because they had to do with celestial magic, but she didn't think that was the only reson. She felt a connection with them. And because of that, she studied about astronomy in her free time. Which she had a lot of.

A full moon peeked out from behind the trees and Lucy smiled through her tears. She had theories about astronomy. And one was that a full moon meant someone who had died was watching over her. She knew it had to be her mom.

Lucy slumped against the tree and pulled her knees up to her chest. She felt cold in her knee-length pink dress and thin coat that she had grabbed on her way out. This was her first time running away, and she wasn't expecting it to be so cold.

Her eyelids suddenly felt heavy and she closed her eyes. Everything was going to be okay. She would find a new home tomorrow with people who cared.
