Chapter 25: The Double Surprise
While enjoying the scenery of the rocky green mountain, Misaki could not help to wonder how his life had changed drastically in this past seven months since he met Usagi-san and married him. His husband really worked hard to repair the damages of the war. A few new villages had been built to support the growing population. Many war victims got new homes and land that they could work on. Some got jobs in various field such as medical field and research field. Usagi-san commanded for memorial stone to be built in Usami's kingdom and Emerald Kingdom to give the future generation a reminder on how a war had affected the life of many people.
They had been back and forth between two kingdoms, gathering people's problem and helped them. Misaki actively joined his husband by his side to every rescue and help mission. Now it was publically known that Misaki is the Kingdom's Queen. The people took the news as a blessing as the kingdom continued to prosper under the rule of the new king and queen. Not to mention Misaki was famous for his kindness and caring personality, aspect that lacked from previous queen. Basically the people all felt in love with their beautiful queen.
Snapped out from his mindscape, Misaki ran toward the bathroom before vomited on the floor. He coughed a few times, feeling sore in his throat. It had been a week since he felt sick. Basically, he did not tell Usagi-san as his husband was very busy and he did not want to burden him with unnecessary thing. He gargled water a few times, cleaning his mouth. He cleaned the floor from the vomit and exited the bathroom.
'Maybe it's better to go check my condition with the palace's doctor.' Misaki thought.
He walked out from the bedchamber and walked down the hallway. Usagi-san told him that he had a meeting this morning. He took his time to enjoy the garden first as he missed his little Lily, the Persian cat very much. The cat really loved to play in the rose garden. Then, he paced to the east where the medical wing stood. There are many doctors and physician as well as potion master around the area. A few physicians passed him and greeted him which he greeted back, telling them to work hard. They just smiled before excused themselves. He knew most of the people here as he helped them many times during the missions.
"Good Morning, Misaki-sama. Do you need anything?" A small petite black-haired man named Chiaki greeted him. He met him once during one of the mission near the border. He was actually a homeless boy who parents were killed in the war. He showed a very good talent in drawing and medical plant, which leaded him to be recruited by the medical team. With his skill, they started on drawing and recording many potions' ingredient and medical plant.
"Ah, Chiaki-kun! Good Morning. I need to meet with Hatori-sensei. Do you know where he is?" Misaki answered.
The sudden blush caught Misaki's eyes. Hmm…this is interesting.
"Hatori-sensei is in the meeting room. Do you need me to get him for you?" Chiaki asked, still with visible blush.
Thinking a bit about it, Misaki said, "Well, it's ok. I will wait for him. Can you lead me to his room? I need him to check my health."
"Oh, ok." Chiaki leaded Misaki to a room and opened it for Misaki. They entered together and went to the nearby couch. The room was bid and spacious but here are many bookshelves with books of many types around the room. Chiaki asked Misaki if he want tea. Misaki Just said yes and continued to observe the room.
A few minutes passed, Chiaki came back with a tray of tea and some biscuits.
"Here, have some of the biscuit. It was a new recipe made by the kitchen's staff." Chiaki explained.
They drank the tea and ate the biscuits while talking about many things. Mostly about Chiaki's life here. He took the chance to thank him for his help which leaded him to a better life. Misaki sheepishly accepted it.
"So how's your married life?" Chiaki teased the brown haired queen which made the boy blushed.
"Ah, it's good. Somehow, we made sure that we were happy. So do you found someone yet?" Misaki raised his leaf eyebrow.
His question made the boy in front of him blushed even redder. Misaki just chuckled.
"So, who is he?" Misaki asked despite he had a hunch on the certain person.
"Ah, well… can you keep secret?"
"Ok. It's fine with me." Misaki answered.
Chiaki whispered to the Misaki. Minute the name whispered out, Misaki grinned.
"Well, I think I already know." Misaki continued to grin at the panics boy.
"What!? How!?" The boy panicked.
Feeling funny of his reaction, Misaki chuckled before said, "Well, you always blushed when I said his name."
At that precise time, the door was slammed open and stepped in the mention man.
"Well, well, Hatori-sensei. It's seemed you already showed yourself." Misaki smiled innocently. Hatori narrowed his eyes not believing the queen's word and proceeded to his desk after closing the door. Chiaki, who still in shocked, snapped out of his frozen state before trailed behind the brunette.
"Do you need something, Misaki-sama?" Hatori asked.
"Well, it's seemed I was feeling sick for a week now. So I came here for a check." Misaki explained after he sat on the opposite chair.
"Does Akihiko-sama know this?"
"Certainly, no! It maybe just food poisoning or a bad case of stomach bug. I don't want to bother him."
"Hmm…can you elaborate the symptoms?" Hatori took out a parchment and a quill to take note.
"Well, I'm been vomiting every morning. I'm also had headache and I lost my appetite. Oh, my foot was sore and I think I was quite moody this past week." Misaki explained while thinking of anything related.
"Oh, and I can smell fish for a certain reason that I cannot understand. I become dizzy and want to vomit if I smelt fish. It was strange as fish is my favorite seafood." Misaki added.
Scribbling every detail, Hatori thought about it deeply.
"Hmm, your symptoms were quite weird. The vomit maybe caused by a case of food poisoning but you don't feel weak right? But it did not explain the dizziness, the sore and the bad smell of the fish. Do you ever experience this before?" Hatori looked to the brunette.
"No. I had a fever during I was a child. But it's not like this." Misaki answered.
Chiaki who was silent in the entire conversation said, "Ah! It's like you were pregnant!"
His joke sent an idea to Hatori.
"Don't joke about it. I'm a guy you know, you stupid." Misaki was bickering with Chiaki about him be a man and could not get pregnant.
"Well, you were vomiting every day. It's like my mother once she was pregnant with my little sister." Chiaki grinned.
"Don't say that…"
"It's seems I agreed with Chiaki, Misaki-sama." Misaki turned his head to Hatori and blinked in disbelief.
"What!? Are you sure? I'm a guy, sensei. Sure it was impossible."
"I need to run a few tests first. And male pregnancy is possible but rare. Not many had being recorded. So can you follow me?"
After a few examinations, it's confirmed that he was pregnant. Three and half month pregnant.
"But…how…?" Misaki asked, puzzled.
"I don't really know it, Misaki-sama. Whether it because Akihiko-sama vampirism feature or that involve Misaki-sama. But I hope, you restrained from doing any heavy task especially the missions. I will give medicine for your dizzy and vomiting. And I advice you tell Akihiko-sama about it. If not I will tell him. Male pregnancy is very dangerous." Hatori explained.
"Geezz, ok. I will tell him."
After he waved a goodbye to the two men, Misaki paced back to his rose garden. Along the way, he kept thinking about the discovery. No way… I'm pregnant…
He sat down near the fishpond under the shady tree. Usagi-san was still in the meeting as it not quite afternoon yet. Judging from the shadow, he estimated that it was 10 in the morning.
He looked around the rose garden, smiling as he remembered certain brunette. Ritsu now happily married with Takano-san a few weeks ago. He smiled when he remembered how frantic Ritsu on his weeding day. In the end he tossed a lizard at him which he jumped immediately into the air, screaming. But it worked as his nervousness had died out a bit. Misaki reassured him that it was the best decision for him and he wished him good luck and Ritsu smiled back at Misaki. He wore a beautiful white wedding gown. Takano insisted on putting Ritsu in dress when Usagi-san told him that Misaki wore a dress during their wedding. Ritsu could not stop to blame for that. Misaki heard that the newlyweds enjoyed their honeymoon in an island.
'I wished them a happy life. I really missed Ritsu here…"
Then, his mind wandered to Usagi-san's brother. After the confrontation, he hoped that Haruhiko had some sense and snapped out of the power hunger. Lust is dangerous as lust for power can lead to destruction. It was what happened with Takano's father. He drowned in power as a ruler that had made him a demon in disguise. Misaki remembered the small smile graced on his face when he looked at Takano, second before he lost his life. Misaki just gave a sad smile.
Back to Haruhiko… he still nowhere in the kingdom that he could detect. The magic he infused in him still did not respond to him, which meant the man is outside of the kingdom. He watched the sky and the fluffy white sky. How nice if his brother is still here…
In a split second, his fire responded, giving him warning of Haruhiko. He spun to the back, which pointed by his flame fairy, and there was Haruhiko standing across the garden.
"Haruhiko-san, welcome." Misaki gave a small smile. He hoped Haruhiko not coming here to harm him.
"Thanks… I just was doing a favor for someone." His answer puzzled Misaki. Haruhiko stepped away to reveal the mop of blue hair, the familiar face and the dazzling cheerful eyes which he remembered vividly in his mind.
"NI-CHAN!" Running across the garden, he hugged the man and felt the warm his brother always resonated to him. Misaki looked to his brother's face, not believing what he saw.
"But HOW? I was there; I buried you… how…?"
"Haruhiko-san saved me actually. He took care of since then. I don't about the body so…" Takahiro answered.
"The body is actually a golem created by me. Sorry for that…" Haruhiko answered.
Misaki let his held breath and smiled, "Well, thank you very much, Haruhiko-san for taking care of my brother."
"So Misaki, how you had been? Haruhiko-san don't told me anything about you." Takahiro tugged his brother and they both sat near the pond while Haruhiko stood near them.
Feeling nervous, he averted his eyes to Haruhiko who just looked at him.
"Well… to start with… I'm married." Misaki answered slowly.
"Really! Who the lucky girl?" Takahiro beam in excitement.
"emm… It not a girl… I mar-ried a-a- man…" Frigidly he gazed down, not wanting to look at his brother face.
"Oh, really? Then, who is the lucky man ?" Takahiro asked. Misaki don't know how to tell his brother about it. Haruhiko sensed this immediately answered:
"He married my brother. You know the one I told you about…" Takahiro looked to Haruhiko stunned.
"Oh, Akihiko-san then… oh, my baby boy already get married… how time had fly. It's like yesterday the last time I hold you. Now… I hoped you were happy…" Takahiro hugged him dearly.
Then, Misaki told his brother about these past few months events. His brother patiently listened and responded to his brother. Haruhiko smiled a little when looking at his lover. He relieved that his lover was happy.
"So… what about you, Ni-chan? Living in manor must be good." Misaki asked.
"I'm dating Haruhiko-san now and we were travelling a lot." Takahiro smiled.
"WHAT!? Oh, really. I never thought about it. How about your old girlfriend?. Doesn't you love her..?"
"She had married someone else but I don't feel regret. I got to meet Haruhiko-san and feel in love with him."
"Right…" Looking at Haruhiko's smug face. Misaki shot him a warning glare.
"Oh, you two boy stop staring at each other." Takahiro chuckled looking at the two antics.
"Misaki! Misaki! WHERE ARE YOU?!" Usagi-san's voice echoed throughout the hall. Misaki snapped out from his glaring answered the calling.
"I'm in the garden, Usagi-san." Misaki could hear the frantic footsteps, sound like running coming from the main hall.
"Misaki! Hatori said that…" He was cut off when he looked at his brother and his Misaki with his brother.
"What happen here?" Usagi-san walked to his brother and directed his gaze to his husband.
"Haruhiko-san, brought Ni-chan here. We were talking since then. "Misaki answered.
"But how, didn't your brother..."
"No that was a golem." Misaki answered simple.
"Oh, ok. Wait, Misaki is it true you were pregnant. Hatori told me earlier." Usagi-san held Misaki's both shoulders.
"Well… you know me… I'm three and half month pregnant." Misaki smiled.
"WHAT!? HOW?!" Usagi-san and Takahiro shout in shock while Haruhiko looked at the brunette in disbelief.
"Misaki" Someone shouting made all of them turned to the voice. Ritsu ran towards his friend.
"It is true that you were pregnant?" Misaki chuckled a bit. Everyone reaction was very funny.
"Yeah, Ritsu." Upon heard that, Ritsu shrieked in delight.
Takano out of anywhere spoke, "Careful love. You were also pregnant."
"WHAT?!" It's Misaki time to shock.
"Yeah, I'm three and half month pregnant." Ritsu answered.
"Oh, we were same. Wait not after…"Misaki blushed.
"After THAT party right?" Ritsu continued.
"Oii! It's embarrassing." Misaki hit the brunette.
"Haha, You were blushing." Ritsu teased Misaki more. He just shrugged it and smiled. One moment he was alone, now all people that he loved like a family was here, happily talking and spending time together. Love had made him met Usagi-san. Lies made him met his brother again. And War made him met Ritsu, Takano and Haruhiko. A family that he never dreams to have now lies in front of him. Today double surprise had made him laugh in happiness that he never could imagine before and he hoped shining stars will always shone on their path forever.
