Despite avoiding an awkward lunch situation the day after the party, one found its way to Tori eventually. It had been a few weeks since the party and she'd eaten a healthy breakfast that morning. She thought that would hold her off until lunch as she thought some of the nausea might affect her due to not eating much. But she threw up for the second time that day, the first time being just after her alarm clock had wakened her. Her lunch tray sat in front of her, the food untouched, and she didn't really have an intention to eat it.

Tristan was the first one to ask if anything was wrong, though Tori knew Maya was the first to notice her behavior. If she hadn't been told what had happened a few weeks before, she would have asked what was wrong immediately. But she knew that if she did that, the conversation would turn toward something that Tori would not want-at least not right now. The whole situation was awkward for her and having to relieve it, even in front of her closest friends, was not appealing to her. She was still questioning a few things herself and she would rather figure them out before she announced anything pertaining to the information.

She nodded. "Maybe it was just something I ate."

"Oh. Well, I hope you feel better."

"Thanks, Tris."

The silence was among them again and Maya fully expected Tori to ask if she would go to the bathroom with her. Ever since the conversation about what happened at the party, she'd been watching Tori and waiting to see if she would reveal anything new to her. Though she would have expected a confirmation of a pregnancy to come later. If Tori truly was pregnant, a few weeks would see early to find out. At least it seemed that way to Maya.

She sighed, digging her spoon into the macaroni and cheese on her tray. Maybe she just did eat something bad. It's possible she's not pregnant.

The next morning in English, Tori had the confirmation Maya was looking for. She was about to reveal her secret to her best friend when the bell signaling the start of first period sounded. Tori sighed loudly, taking her binder out of her book bag. She opened it up and tore out a piece of loose-leaf paper. In her neat handwriting, she wrote out her message and then folded up the sheet of paper.

She wasn't able to pass it to Maya until after the daily assignment was written on the board due to Mr. Meyer's monitoring the class as they worked on their warm-up. As she was making sure Maya got the note, a hand came into view, tearing the note from the corner of the blonde's desk.

"Ms. Santamaria, Ms. Matlin, you both know that note-passing is not allowed in my class. Would you like to share what was so important that it could not wait until the passing period?"

Both girls shook their heads.

"Well, then I guess I will just have to read it myself." He unfolded the paper and began to read. "I took a pregnancy test yesterday." He stopped after the first sentence, surprised by what he'd just read. He continued on anyway, slowly, as he'd already done the damage by reading the note aloud to begin with. "Guess who won't be able to fit into their jeans pretty soon."

Heads turned to face Tori and a few people began to stare at Zig as well. The look on his face was unforgettable. He hadn't been expecting anything like this at all.

Tori slowly raised her hand and Mr. Meyers nodded. She grabbed her things and left the room, walking out into the hallway.

The room went silent again after the sound of Tori's footsteps diminished. Zig raised his own hand and received a nod as well. He stood up, leaving his stuff behind, and went off to find Tori. He assumed she went to the bathroom. The nearest one was down the hall and he started walking quickly to get there. As he reached the door, he wasn't sure if he should just go inside. He could still get in trouble, as it was the girls' bathroom. He knocked on the door, but there was no response. "Tor," he called lightly, though he was sure it was loud enough for her to hear if she truly was in the bathroom.

"What?" she asked, her voice low.

"Is it true?"

"Well, my body's saying it is. That pregnancy test had to agree. I haven't gone to the doctor yet, but the answer is likely yes...Listen, I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?"

"This. Everything."

"Tori...it was my fault too, okay? I mean, I may not remember that night very well and I don't know how well you do, but it's not like this is all pinned on you."

"You know you can come inside," she said after a moment of silence.

He opened the door and walked inside. It looked like Tori hadn't been crying. At least not yet. "So, um...when are you telling your parents? Wait, have you told them yet?"

She shook her head. "No. I want to tell them soon. I want to be honest with them and I figured that the sooner I get checked out the better of a chance we have to have a healthy baby."

"Baby," Zig repeated. "It always sounds so different when other people say it. Unless you're personally involved, it doesn't seem to have much of an effect. Even hearing my mom tell me she was going to have a baby twice didn't feel nearly how it does now."

"Well, of course. You were only a few years old when she had Ivan, right? You know, of course you're going to be happy and excited for your parents." There's not really anything happy about this.

"Come on, don't cry," he said when Tori's eyes started to get watery. He opened his arms for her and she stepped closer to him and accepted the hug.

"But I really am sorry. This is going to be super hard and now-"

"-No, don't think too far ahead. Don't overwhelm yourself. At least wait until we talk to our parents. They've been through it a total of eight times combined, so they can help us with this."

She nodded. "Yeah, I guess so."

"So...are you going back to class?"

"I don't think so. I might just call my dad and have him pick me up. I'll tell him I feel sick. It isn't totally lying since I actually do kind of feel sick."

"Well, I hope you feell better."

"Thanks."

"Well, uh, is it okay if I hang out here with you until class is over? I don't think walking back into that room is a good idea."

"You should have gotten your stuff. I wouldn't dare go back in there right now."

He shrugged and they both remained in the bathroom until Tori's father came to pick her up.
