Chapter 1

Reiju had learned a long time ago to trust only two things; her instincts were one of them. Right now they were telling her that stealing from the male on the corner was a bad idea. Unfortunately, she couldn't recall the last time she'd eaten and hunger was winning out over common sense. Reiju quietly approached the male, so as not to startle him. She 'accidentally' bumped into him, apologized, and kept going.

She ducked into an alley a few blocks up to rifle through her new purse. She pocketed the cash before dropping the bag in a gutter. Two steps away from the alley she was knocked into the street by the pissed off male. Neither one of them saw the car coming.

Reiju was tossed into a sign by the force of the impact. She shook her head dizzily before standing up. Oddly enough, she didn't feel hurt at all. A clinking sound drew her attention downward and she stared, dumbfounded, at the chain protruding from her chest. When she looked back at where the car now idled brokenly she saw a group of people staring at something on the ground. She walked over and looked down. Her own sightless eyes stared back up.
