Hermione Granger Weasley hurried after her little daughter who ran carelessly on the streets of Diagon Alley, her frilly frock blowing with the wind and her wild red curls flying as if the had their own life.
"Rosie – Rosie, stop sweetie," called Hermione. It was impossible to believe how energetic the three year old was. As Hermione tried to make her way through the unruly crowd, her little girl ran away from her as if she owned the place.
"Catch me mummy," she laughed, "I am the Ogwards Eshpesh."
Hermione tried to push the giant man walking right in front of her as politely as she could but the man was as stiff as a pillar. He blocked her way every time she tried to move ahead of him.
"Mummy!" Hermione heard her daughter cry as she fell down on the stony street. Not more than ten seconds later big, fat tears started pouring out of her beautiful blue eyes.
"Excuse me, sir. I need to go," said Hermione to the man. "My daughter just fell down," she added sternly.
The man gave her a stiff nod but moved out of her way. Hermione was just about to reach Rose when she saw someone else beat her to it.
Her daughter was no more alone but accompanied by a little blonde boy who looked no older than her. He said something to Rose and she suddenly stopped crying while a soft smile graced her lips.
'Strange.' Thought Hermione. Her daughter had the worst mood swings ever.
"Are you okay sweetie?" Asked Hermione as she reached her.
"Yes mummy, I'm fine," she replied. "Scopius gave me candy," she added as she lifted her little hand to show a small bar of chocolate that she held.
"It's Scorpius," said the little boy.
"Sowie," replied Rose.
"Scorpius." Hermione heard someone say and came face to face with none other than her former school rival and present colleague Draco Malfoy.
"Yes father," replied Scorpius.
Draco glared at Hermione and picked up his little son in his arms.
"Well! It's time to leave," said Draco.
"But I wanna play wid Row," replied Scorpius.
"Sorry to say, but we don't have time for that," he told Scorpius strictly and without listening to his further protests, carried him away.
"Rosie dear," said Hermione as she crouched next to her daughter, "I think we should leave too."
When Rose did not respond, she simply picked her up and carried her away. Away from the crowd. Away from Scorpius.
Both 'The Brightest Witch of Her Age' and 'The Slytherin Prince' failed to notice that the two kids continued staring at each other till the remained in the same visual field.
And that was the time when their fate was written in the stars.
