"I still can't believe it..." Caroline exclaimed, sipping from the glass of champagne which she was currently holding in her right hand.
"Me neither, Care." Elena said. The brunette girl stood on Caroline's right side while Klaus occupied her left side. Right behind Elena stood Elijah. They all were watching the scene which was playing in front of them.
Kol and Bonnie were dancing in the middle of the big dance floor in front of the friends. Normally, this wouldn't be something extraordinary, but today wasn't normal and this wasn't ordinary.
It was the most wonderful and breathtaking day in the witch's life. Her wedding day! Now the young witch wasn't a Bennett anymore, now – after everything that had happened in her life – she was a Mikaelson.
And she wouldn't complain for one second in her life about anything that lead her to this moment.
Today she was the happiest person in the world and nobody could convince her otherwise.
"I always thought she would be the last one to get married..." Caroline looked from the dancing couple to her boyfriend and leaned a bit into him.
"The same goes for Kol, my love", said Klaus and looked down at his blonde vampire. He felt the weight of the little satin box in his trousers and he knew sooner or later he had to ask her the question like he had planned for so long. But not tonight. No, tonight was all about Kol and Bonnie. Maybe in a few days when the newly-weds weren't home anymore.
With an inaudible sigh he took Caroline into his arms and kissed her forehead.
A quick glance to his right told him that Elijah was in the exact same situation he was in. Elijah had bought the ring together with Klaus and Kol a few weeks after the youngest Mikealson-brother had proposed. That was now almost nine months ago. But sooner than later he would ask Elena to marry him because he was 100 percent sure that she would say yes. And he couldn't wait to hear her say this little word.
Just four days after the wedding Elena and Elijah took a trip to a beach house the Mikaelsons owned. The oldest Mikealson brother had decided that it was time to propose to Elena. Another day later would mark the day that Elijah had walked back into Elena's live with the help of the entry in her diary. At least that was the reason he told Elena when she asked him about the trip.
The morning after they had arrived at the beach house Elena stumbled out of the bedroom into the kitchen to make some coffee and maybe prepare some breakfast but it looked like she came too late for that. Standing there in front of the kitchen counter was Elijah who made pancakes for them.
Elena hadn't realize the amazing smell that surrounded her until now. "That smells delicious!", she stated before hugging her boyfriend from behind.
"I hope it tastes as good as it smells!" Elijah exclaimed with a little laugh at the end of his sentence. "Now, go, sit down. Your pancakes are almost ready!"
Elena had just sat down when Elijah set a table in front of her. It looked as good as it smelled and Elena had no doubt that it would taste as amazing as she hoped it would. After she picked up her fork and tested the pancake's fluffiness she took a bite from it.
Just as she wanted to take a second bite, the brunette saw something sparkly shining from the plate. She put her fork down before picking the sparkly object up. As she took a closer look Elena almost choked on the pancake which was still in her mouth.
Shocked she looked over at Elijah who was now kneeling on the ground instead of standing in front of the counter. "Marry me?" He asked with a small smile on his lips.
The young brunette swallowed down her bite of pancake before nodding her head in a way that made her look like a madman. "O my god, yes!" She exclaimed as she jumped from her seat onto the ground to kiss her soon-to-be-husband. She felt like the happiest person on earth as Elijah took the ring from Elena and put it on her finger.
A few weeks came and passed and the newly-weds hadn't come home yet from their honeymoon. Maybe Bonnie was a little too excited about Europe to come home yet or she just liked the privacy she had with Kol more than sharing a house with her best friends and husband's brothers. Well, Caroline could really care less.
Because she had the mansion for herself and her boyfriend alone because Elijah had taken Elena to some beach house far far away. So, she wasn't really surprised that the house was completely empty except for herself when she came from the grocery shopping. But what she didn't expect were the candles covering every inch of the house.
"Nik?", the blonde vampire called out. She had settled for "Nik" now as nickname, it sounded way better. When she didn't receive an answer she put down the bags full of groceries and walked down the hallway following the candles into the living room.
And stopped her moves immediately.
This wasn't something you'd expect when you enter your living room...
In the middle of the room on the floor was a gigantic heart build out of candles. But the thing that had caught her attention was her boyfriend kneeling right behind the heart with a little satin box opened in his hand. Caroline's mouth dropped open in shock and she put her hand in front of her mouth but just a second later the young blonde had the biggest smile on her face known to mankind. It wasn't something you'd expect to see when you enter your living room, that's true.
But it was definitely something you loved to see.
Before Klaus had even opened his mouth to ask the question how he had planned for so long Caroline nodded her head and stumbled over her words while trying to say "yes" as often and fast as she could. Just seconds later she was in his arms and he put the ring on her finger.
"So, you'll marry me, then?" Klaus asked with the sweetest and happiest smile on his face. Caroline could only nod her head as happy tears streamed down her face. "I love you" was whispered into her ear and she couldn't help but kiss her now fiancee with all her heart and emotions poured into it. "I love you too." she whispered, her face just an inch away from his and their foreheads leaning together. Their breathing heavy from the kiss but both had a smile on their faces. And even without saying it they both knew it.
They knew that everything was perfect for their future.
