This just came to me after going to the dentist with my baby cousins. I've never seen something like this pop up on fanfiction, so here you go!

"DADDY! DADDY!" Joanna Castle cried as she ran down the stairs, stumbling over her own feet just a little as she ran full speed towards where he was sitting on the couch. She crashed into him, wrapping her arms tightly around him (as much as a six year old could to a grown man).

"What, princess?"

"I lost a tooth!"

"You did?" Joanna smiled a big toothy grin, showing off her new smile that was missing her front tooth.

"See, daddy, see?" She said, nothing short of a bundle of energy. "Here's my tooth, but it's not in my mouth anymore!" She held up the tooth.

"You know, you have to put it under your pillow tonight right?"

"Because the tooth fairy has to come!"

"That's right."

"I know! Mommy said she'll help me when she tucks me in tonight." He looked over and smiled at his wife, who was watching this exchange from the bottom of the stairs.

"Good. Now why don't you go give that to mommy? You wouldn't want to lose it, right?" His daughter gasped, as if that would be just the most awful thing in the world. She hopped off his lap and scampered to her mom. "Here, mommy. Daddy said you have to keep this safe. Promise me," she said, in her most serious big-girl voice, "that you'll keep this safe."

"I will baby, I will," she told her daughter, taking the tooth and dropping a kiss on Joanna's forehead. Seemingly content with that answer, Joanna ran back up the stairs, probably to play with her dolls.

Kate walked over to her husband. She went to sit on the couch beside him, but he grabbed her around the waist and pulled her into his lap. "Hey!" He kissed her annoyed smirk away.

"So. Our baby's lost her first tooth."

"I know. She's getting so big."

"Why can't they just stay little forever? I dread the day when she stops running into my arms like that."

"I know," she said, flattening down some of his hair, kissing his forehead.

"You know..." he said slowly, "We could always just..."

"Richard, NO!" She told him strongly.

"But Kate! You're still..."

"You're still young enough to have more kids!"

"Richard Edgar Castle!" she scolded him. "That is enough! We have four kids under the age of six. And you," she accented it to prove it was his fault, "want more kids?"

He smiled sheepishly. "With you, Kate, I'd keep having kids until we weren't able to anymore." He continued quickly after seeing her shocked expression. "But clearly you don't want to, so I guess we won't."

"No..." she said slowly, diverting her gaze from his eyes. "I- I didn't say that."

"Do you want more kids, Kate?"

"I...I don't know. Maybe. Just not right now. Anna just turned six three months ago, Addy & Bridge are only four, and AJ's barely a year old. I've already gone through having a baby at home while being pregnant. It's more stress than anyone needs on their shoulders."

"I understand, Katie. But...but do you think there's a chance that we could have more kids?"

"Possibly. Ask me again when AJ's a little bit older." She kissed him softly.

"MOMMY!" A shout came from upstairs. They both looked up to see Joanna standing at the top of the stairs. "Addy and Bridge want to see my tooth before it's bedtime."

"Okay, baby, I'm coming."

"I am NOT a baby! I'm a BIG GIRL! I just lost a tooth!"

"Of course you are, honey," Rick said, following his wife up the stairs, and scooping his daughter up. She snuggled into his neck. "Of course, you are."
