Disclaimer: I only own Dr. Jennings, nobody else...sadly
Oh and sorry if there are mistakes, they are all mine if there are (cause no beta for me)
Dr. Damian Jennings had started running a year and some odd months ago and had not stopped since. After telling Fairy Tail the news of Levy's "demise", he quickly jumped ship. Jennings moved from place to place, researching, gathering information, and never letting himself become a known figure in any town he stayed in. He knew the chances of Levy surviving in that cave were slim to none; after all, she was nowhere near the strongest girl that existed. But she does have the Abaddon now; the voice in his head reminded him whenever he thought about the girl who had been such a thorn in his side. So, in the off chance that Levy did survive, he moved around every couple of months, not wanting to be tracked down by a crazy revenge seeking guild.
He never became a staple in any city he stayed in, never made an impression, never made friends. He would lock himself up in the nearest library as soon as he got into the new town and would immediately start researching a way to regain the Abaddon or another way to become just as powerful. Some leads seemed very promising and others not so much, as they depended on the carrier of the magic. In any situation, Damian Jennings had come to the conclusion that somehow, someway he would need to get his hands on Levy again. Corpse or a living and breathing body; it didn't matter to him.
Tired of getting nowhere far in his research, Dr. Jennings packed up the material items he kept with him and headed back toward the cave he thought he had left behind for good. It took him a couple of days, but he was soon on the trek through the woods back to the collapsed cave.
The first thing he noticed as he reached the cave was the hole in the rubble that had kept the cave closed. He walked up to the cave entrance and slowly crawled through the hole, careful not to catch his skin or clothes on any of the protruding rocks. The second thing he noticed, as he stood up inside the cave was immediately the smell. It definitely smells like something died here. He covered his mouth and nose with the crook of his elbow and used the small amount of light coming from the cave entrance to look around.
He saw cracks in the ground that were obviously the work of the Abaddon and noticed his stuff from the year before on the ground, but he caught no sight of Levy's items. She must have actually gotten out. Damn it! Although from the smell of it, she was in here for quite a while… His thoughts trailed off as he crawled back out of the cave and took a large breath of fresh air. "Looks like we'll meet again, Levy", he grinned maniacally, "but first, I have to go even the playing field a bit more." He adjusted his glasses and began the trek back toward civilization.
Levy was getting better, but she still had her bad days. Days where her mind seemed to be fighting against her and her body felt numb. The minute Levy started awake from a particularly vivid nightmare she knew it was going to be one of those days. Catching her breath, she turned her head to look out the window and saw that the sun had just risen and let out a long sigh. Rolling over onto her stomach she pushed her face into her pillow and used her arms to wrap the pillow around her head as the thoughts from her nightmare filled her head. You're never gonna get better. You'll never get your magic back. You're still useless. You're weak. They'll all change their minds about you. They'll leave you again. Levy squeezed at the pillow wrapping around her head, desperately trying to silence the thoughts inside her. They only increased to the point of being deafening.
Getting caught up in the thoughts and emotions, a purple light once again came from Levy. She didn't hear the knock or the announcement of someone entering the room. She didn't feel the depression of the bed when someone sat down next to her. She only realized there was someone there when they gently put their hand on top of her shoulder. Levy stopped squeezing her pillow, the purple light slowly dissipated, and after a couple of minutes she turned her head to face the visitor that had yet to move their hand. She was met with blue hair and then white fur.
The first thing Wendy noticed when Levy turned to face her was the dullness of her gaze. She immediately knew something was wrong and that it was another one of those days. She looked down at Charle, who was very concerned, on the bed, "Charle, can you go tell Gajeel and Lily that Levy and I are gonna spend the day together?" The exceed nodded, hopped off the bed, and left the room in order to tell the Gajeel and Lily that it was one of Levy's bad days. After watching the exceed out, Wendy turned her focus back to Levy. "Good morning, Levy", Wendy greeted with a gentle smile.
Levy lifted her gaze to the face and smile of her visitor, "Wendy." That was about the best greeting Levy could give at the moment. She lowered her eyes back down to the mattress. Wendy thought for a moment, and then suddenly perked up as she got an idea. Removing her hand from Levy's shoulder, she hopped off the bed and walked over to the bookshelf. Levy remained mostly unresponsive as Wendy picked out a book.
After a few minutes Wendy made her way back over to the bed and sat at the foot of it. Suddenly nervous she ran her fingers over the cover of the book before speaking, "You told me that this was your favorite book, and I read it a few times when you….while you were gone…" Wendy trailed off, her words filled with uncertainty, "It's become one of my favorites too, and hopefully it's still one of yours." Wendy smiled down at the book and opened it to the first page. Levy immediately recognized the words Wendy was reading, and the thoughts slowly quieted.
After the second chapter Levy turned back over onto her back and looked down at Wendy. After the third chapter she sat up at the head of the bed. After the fifth chapter she scooted over on the bed a little and patted the spot she next to her when Wendy looked at her in between paragraphs. By the eighth chapter Charle had returned to the room with breakfast and sat on Levy's lap as Wendy continued to read next to them between bites. After chapter thirteen, Levy gently took the book from Wendy and started softly reading. After chapter twenty-five, Lily, Lucy, Erza, and Mira walked in to see all three of the room's occupants fast asleep, the book open, but lay forgotten, next to Levy as they leaned on each other in their sleep.
