A/N: I just thought of this randomly. You know, while contemplating the what ifs...

"Goodbye, my dear." Said a dark haired man.

"When is the war going to be over love?" asked Susan to her husband.

"Only time will tell, beloved." He replied, "Until then, I must serve this county with pride. Goodbye."

"Bye." Said Susan tearfully.

"Mommy mommy!" cried a little girl of five.

"Coming!" yelled Susan.

"Mommy! I want a bedtime story!"

Susan sighed as she entered the room of her daughter. The child never got enough of bedtime stories.

Kind of like Lucy…

Susan shook her head, now was not the time to think about her past family. She smiled warmly at her daughter, Lucy and said, "What story would you like to hear today, sweetheart?"

"The one about the four children and the lion and the faun!" yelled little Lucy.

Susan sighed again, that was her little one's favorite. It reminded her of the mistake she made with her brothers and sister. She knew that it was too late to turn back now and that she had to learn to live the life she chose to live here in England.

Shaking her head again, she took a deep breath and started to narrate the story:

"Once, there were four children named Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy…"
