That was then, this is now
Annabeth's POV
"Hey, Peter what are you doing here?"
He didn't answer, he just glared at me. Do I have something on my face? Do I look horrible? Why is he staring at me! I thought annoyed.
Peter's friend cleared his throat and got up. "I better get going. I got some party business to take care of." he instantly got up from his seat and went inside.
"Peter?" he coughed and turned away blushing.
"Hey, Annabeth. My friends invited me here." he said smiling as I took a seat next to him.
"Same here. My friends dragged me along." he laughed making my blush furiously.
"Where are you from?"
"I'm from San Francisco, what about you?" I asked shyly.
He took a deep breath "Just here" I then noticed a scar across his neck. I was about to ask about the scar, but bit my tongue before I did.
"Tell me more about yourself." Peter said leaning towards me.
"You first, I'm not that interesting."
"Okay, what do you want to know?" he muttered scratching his neck.
"What do you like to do?" He thought for a second or two.
"I love to swim!"
I smiled, "Really? That's cool."
"Yup, I always did." We sat there in complete silence for about four minutes listening to the cold night.
Peter broke the silence "So where do you live?"
"I live with my friends Thalia and Luke in an apartment."
His smile drops slightly. For a moment Peter looked depressed, lonely and angry at the same time, but he managed to smile.
"So, is Thalia and Luke best friends of yours?"
I nodded "Yeah, they are. I knew Thaila my whole entire life, but I've only known Luke for about two years.
He doesn't speak for a while which made me a bit nervous.
"You've known her your entire life?
"Yeah"
"How is she?" he asked. I a bit shocked when he asked that. Why would he have interest in her? Why would he ask that anyways?
"If your thinking of going out with her. I'm sorry, but she is already-"
"Woah whoah!" -he paused in complete shock- "Hold on, First, I am not interested in your little friend I was just asking. Secondly, why would you care IF I was interested in her?"
I tried to think of something to say.
"I would care because she is my friend and I want her to stay away from people like you!" I stopped realizing what I just said.
"Woah princess, but explain to me...how am I not safe?" he raised an eyebrow confused "You rarely know me!"
"Well, Mr. Know it all! You seem very mysterious and strange. You seem to be hiding something and you seem a bit dangerous! Lastly, don't call me princess!" I shouted out loud. I was about to tell him more, but stopped when I saw his face. His sea green eyes were full of sadness and anger. What have I done?
"I'm sorry. Forget what I just said. I was just anxious why you wanted to know about Thalia." he didn't respond instead he shut his eyes and took a deep breath making me shiver.
He opened his eyes "Don't be sorry. All you said was the truth. I have to accept the truth you know?" He was about to say something, but I interrupted him.
"If everything I said is true. Why?"
He looked at me confused "Why...what?"
"Why are you dangerous? Why are you strange around people."
"My past that's why." The way he said it made me have shivers up my spine. I took his hand into mine rubbing them slowly.
"Tell me, I want to help you get over your past" he glared deep into my eyes maybe deciding whether he should believe me or not.
"Not now, not here, not ever" he whispered lightly pulling his hand away from mine. I felt like leaving him alone, but part of me didn't want to.
"Maybe some other time." I suggested.
"I have to think about it first. I'm not sure I'm ready to tell anyone yet" he said slowly "And thanks." I nodded then suddenly the door flew opened.
Thalia came out shrieking "Annie you have to come and see this! The party is just getting started!" She left before I could respond. I turned around expecting to see Peter, but he was nowhere insight.
"Peter?" I got up from my seat and started to walk around.
"Peter?!" I then felt someone touch my shoulder. I turned to see who it was and saw Peter inches away from my face.
"I have to go. It's getting late." He whispered.
"Why did you hide?" I asked quietly.
"Long story, bye" before he left I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"Bye." I whispered. He pulled quickly and left without a word.
