Long ago a boy fell in love with the girl next door, Ten years later they were married with two twin girls. The girl drove to the grocery store with the girls and on the way home he texted her to say he loved her, she checked her phone and looked away from the road for one second, which is all that the time it took for a semi to hit the driver's side of the van.
-Days later-
The remaining twin stood there between the two caskets watching the rain wash her Mothers childhood pains away, barely daring to breathe. Her father stood up and came behind her and put his hand on her tear wracked body presumably to comfort her but it only made it worse. I was too absorbed in my own misery to go and comfort my Niece and brother-in-law.
I slowly sighed and stepped forward to say goodbye to my beautiful, caring and compassionate younger sister.
That day changed my father, he barely even cares anymore. About a year after my Mamas death he got me a full time nanny saying it would only be 'temporary'. Then came the boarding schools and soon after the foster homes. And every night my father drinks my mother and sister away, hoping he doesn't see my face because I look too much like her.
I slowly pulled off my head phones and stuck them in my backpack, wincing as I banged into the door jam. I stiffened and waited for the yell up the stairs from my foster mom. This one I have been with for 3 years and by a long shot was my favorite. I continued walking down the stairway and crept down to the kitchen to start making breakfast.
