AUTHOR'S NOTE:

I would appreciate constructive criticism but this is kind of in vain, since people rarely read poetry on this site.

Ok, those rare few gems of readers, you can pretend that it's very obviously Hermione's POV.

And, by the way, I've absolutely no training or specific education on poetic structure or anything like that, so if it 'doth not rhyme', see if I care! :-)

Read, Read, Re-read, and review!

All authors love reviews, even one-worded reviews!

PATH TO REDEMPTION

I stood, staring aghast at the stairs,

The steps large and intimidating,

Gulping slightly, I took a last backwards glance,

Once started, would I find my way home?

My fine ears detected a weird noise,

The sound of teeth clicking

As one clenches his jaw,

The reflection on the dark window on my right caught my eye,

A woman stood, regal face boasting a proud bearing,

But visibly lost at that time,

Her back hunched and eyes showing

A desperation worth weeping over,

Her face once made up with rouge on her cheek,

Mirrored as pale and listless,

She made a pathetically unremarkable picture,

Obviously defeated,

With a start I realised it was me,

I was that picture,

My defeat, shamed lack of expected victory,

Shown to the world,

The stairs in front seemed more insurmountable than ever,

Yet, it was my only path,

The only road to my redemption,

One day, I'll look in the mirror,

Not to see a regal beauty fought over by men,

But a redeemed and respected woman,

Who nearly reached her oasis in the middle of the Sahara.

Author's Note:

Was it any good?

Did someone, anyone(Woo-hoo, anyone there?!), like it?

Review and let me know!

Oh, and flames are great for marshmallows, which I love by the way!

So, flamers, do your best!
