I know, I know, you guys probably want to lynch me for making you wait so long. It's been drama and work filled once high school started up again. But you guys don't want my excuses, I'm sure you just want some Jack Frost (whom I don't own, as well as the rest of the series). Enjoy, and please review.
A full night's sleep. I forgot how nice that felt. The previous two nights I may have had Jack with me, but that wasn't until after the nightmares started. However, from the time my head first hit the pillow, until the time I woke, I felt safe. I remembered waking up and thinking how lovely it would be to have this every day. Then I remembered I probably will. Needless to say, I had a feeling I would be more of a morning person from here on out.
I went to roll out of bed and found myself trapped in Jack's embrace. Not that I was complaining. I had also forgotten how it felt for someone to really want me by their side. Andrew already seemed lifetimes ago, and even still, he was merely a brotherly figure to me. "Don't go yet," Jack murmured as he buried his face in the back of my neck, like a sleepy child would. The feel of his breath on my neck sent chills down my spine, and my skin's sensitivity caused me to laugh loudly. Jack picked his head up and I heard him chuckle. "And what is so funny?" he inquired, teasing me.
I laughed again and finally succeeded at exiting the bed. "Nothing, dear," I replied sarcastically. Jack got out of bed as well then entered the bathroom we had found to be connected to the room. "I'm going to visit North," I informed Jack as I slipped on a dress I found in a nearby closet. North must have known I was coming, for the dress was a beautiful light blue, with white ice-like designs. It was essentially the dress form of Jack's signature sweatshirt.
Jack stepped out of the bathroom before I could even leave the room. "Count me in," he concluded, finishing pulling his sweatshirt over his head. He messed his hair up even more then held up his hand, for me to hold. I accepted graciously, and noticed Jack staring at me. "You look…great," Jack seemed breathless as he finished awkwardly. I blushed in response, naturally, unused to compliments on my appearance.
As we walked down the halls of the ornate castle, the soft fabric of my dress caressed my ankles. I definitely wasn't used to floor length dresses, but I found this one to be quite comfortable. My thoughts continued to wander until we heard Bunny and North yelling from the study.
"We could just go in and get them, Jack and Jayne won't have to know a thing." Bunny was clearly trying to persuade North to keep us ignorant on something. My stomach started to flip, fearing the worst had happened, and I felt Jack squeeze my hand in an attempt to calm me down.
"We have to tell them," North responded, shutting down Bunny's idea, "this is her family, after all. We need to have them safe." I now felt my heart drop. Why wasn't my family safe? I knew they could be in danger from me being here, but that wasn't set in stone. "And you know just as well as I we won't defeat Pitch without Jack."
At those words Jack burst through North's study. "Are you telling me Pitch has Jayne's family?" Jack nearly shouted, startling both North and Bunny. I walked up to Jack and placed a hand on his shoulder. Bunny flinched then nodded.
I fought my feeling of being unable to breathe and spoke, even though my voice shook. "We have to go, then. We need to rescue them from Pitch."
