Son of the Moon

Chapter 61

-Percy-

Silver arms crossed; Percy stared down at the maps laid out on the war table. One was a map of the United States as a whole with the predicted paths that Typhon might take on his rampage toward Olympus. The other two were more detailed maps of the areas surrounding Mount Olympus and Mount Othrys.

"These are potential routes but the one we're expecting the most is this one." Athena traced her finger along one of the lines drawn across the US map, "He's not out yet but he will be within the day. We'll head to intercept and try to destroy Typhon before he reaches Olympus." The fact that it was 'try' and not 'will' was a sobering thought but not an unexpected one. Typhon was the ultimate monster, one that even most of the gods had fled from in fear back in the ancient times.

"The Clear-sighted Squadron will be working on evacuation routes to keep the Mortals out of the way." Ares nodded, "They've been sent copies of the maps to use as reference.

"We've been working with the retired children of Vulcan." Reyna stepped forward "Thanks to the gods providing us with the formula for Greek Fire, we've spent the past year developing ordinances to use on Mount Othrys. The Legion will lay siege to the Mountain's base, that should draw out forces from the Titan palace so a small task force can sneak in to plant the ordinances."

"How are they set to go off?" Zeus frowned, stroking his beard, a quirk Percy had noticed the god king tended to do when agitated.

"They have a timer. It will be close, but they team planting them should be able to get out in time." Reyna's voice was overly stiff, showing the controlled military precision of a Praetor. There was a very real chance that the ones sent on that mission wouldn't make it home. But that was the reality if the situation, every mission had a very real chance of death when it came down to war against the Titans and the Giants.

"I'll have most of the Greeks ready to defend Olympus." Percy nodded "Those too young to fight on the front lines will be assisting the Apollo healers with tending to the wounded, while the Hephaestus Cabin are all being relegated to repairing the Bronze Dragon." If they had that thing up and running then there would only be a handful of monsters capable of matching it.

"Won't the mortals notice an army around the Empire State Building?" Hylla frowned, the Amazon queen having spent the last year in recovery just to get back to her former level of strength.

"If the prophecy means what I think it does, then no." Percy denied, shaking his head "To see the world in endless sleep. That was one of the lines, and we know that Hypnos and Moros joined with Kronos."

"A sleep spell to have the mortals be passed out and out of the way." Hylla and Reyna scowled, speaking in tandem and showing their disgust with such a tactic.

"The Amazons were originally going to split between the Greeks and Romans." Hylla spoke up "But-" she glanced over to a pillar in the throne room of the gods where Polybotes stood unarmed, having given his Trident to Zeus upon entering Olympus as a sign of good will.

"I will fight alongside the Greeks." Polybotes' voice was deep and rumbling "Kronos will come here, as will Poseidon. I know my brother and I know my foe. Kronos will attack without the giants because he wants this victory to be his while Poseidon will also desire to come if only to reach Perseus." Polybotes approached the table, pointing a clawed finger at the map of New York "With the two of them combined as they are I wouldn't be surprised if their worst traits were bleeding in to one another. The sea god doesn't forgive easily, and Kronos is not one to accept when others won't submit to him. With the prophecy marking Perseus as the one who can stop them, along with the rivers of the city closest to Olympus having a history of not liking Poseidon, then this area will become even more personal for them."

"Having you fighting here would be a great boon." Athena admitted, although the underlying 'but' was clearly audible to everyone, Polybotes included.

"I swear upon the River Styx and upon the Geyser gods that I will fight as the ally of Perseus Jackson and his forces. That I am here to finally fulfill my purpose in seeing the end of Poseidon. And that I will leave without betraying you once this war is concluded." Polybotes rolled his eyes, not even bothering to hide the fact that he picked up the underlying distrust as thunder shook the ground from the oath "Does that satisfy you?"

"I swear upon the Styx and the Geyser gods that should you keep to your oath then you shall not be attacked by us or our forces." Zeus nodded, matching the oath with his own "I-" the god king was cut off as a wave of magic swept through the air, easily shaken off by the gods, demigods, and Giant in the room.

"Damnit, it's happening now!" Apollo cursed, eyes glowing gold as the sun god seemed to be seeing through everything and everyone around them "The Titan's forces are approaching the city and the mortals are collapsing."

"Hermes, take them back to their forces!" Zeus was already moving, the sky god tossing Reyna and Hylla to the swift messenger god before vanishing in a flash of lightning while Hermes flashed away.

"I will bring the Greeks here." Athena promised as she vanished.

"Your sisters will arrive soon." His mom swore, the gods vanishing one by one to head toward Typhon.

"You ready?" Polybotes grunted, the giant cracking his neck loudly, picking up the trident that Zeus had left behind. In answer, Percy drew forth Riptide, the bronze blade of his fallen sister gleaming.

"Ready."

AN: Short, I know, but I didn't have anything else for this that wouldn't be padding or a bad transition. Next chapter though, oh, next chapter we get something I've been planning for a while for this story. Since the first arc honestly and I can't wait to get to that and all the other things I have planned for this last act.
