Please review! I'm not good at poetry, and so I don't expect to be. I wrote this last night after writing a perfectly-rhyming detailed and humorous poem about my sister. I don't intend on posting it, so you can forget that. This poem is based on the 1976 Russian film of The Little Mermaid (Rusalochka). The Prince looks so young, yet the actor was born in 1937. I can't help but think he's in his late teens or early 20's, and he's definitely gorgeous.
The avatar for this fanfic is 10 minutes into the film, when it becomes daylight, and the Little Mermaid softly begs him to wake up.
...
She lived in the sea where dwelled a kingdom,
She had a blue fin with seagreen hair.
With a pearl necklace around her neck,
She had the finest flair.
...
She and her sisters swam up to the surface,
Where a ship happened to be sailing on that day.
They used their influence to lure them to their deaths,
With just a look at them as their arms moved with a sway.
...
But the mermaid most beautiful did not just yet join them,
She swam up to the ship where she saw a prince.
He was, O, so handsome,
He noticed her, giving her a wince.
...
She hurried into the water,
Helping her sisters to lure the sailors to their death.
As the ship sank, they took their wealth without a fret.
But the mermaid most beautiful did not join them, the king's daughter.
...
She took the prince so handsome,
And swam up to shore.
Gazing at his unconscious state, she swam.
But he did not wake up, even for a look of her beauty so pure.
...
The mermaid most beautiful spent the rest of the night,
Gazing at him till it was daylight.
A group of ladies came riding on horses, forcing the mermaid to hide.
Taking the prince to his kingdom they went, O how the mermaid sighed.
...
She loved him so, more than her own life.
She recieved the help of a kind man who got a witch for her.
She had to suffer for legs in exchange for her hair.
She could walk and dance, but with pain like a knife.
...
Like stepping on the edges of knives she suffered,
To be near her prince for her heart's sake.
But as he did not awaken, he did not recognize her as his savior
Yet calm and serene was her behavior.
...
A certain princess he considered his savior,
Lies she told him, to which he had believed.
As it was nonsense, she must have been relieved.
How mistaken the prince was.
...
A knight came for her hand in marriage,
Though he was very wealthy, she didn't accept.
"I will hold a tournament tomorrow. Whoever wins will get my hand," said she.
Since the prince was valiant in fighting, she knew how that would turn out to be.
...
Sulpitius was the name of the man who had gotten the witch.
He tried to reason with the prince, to no good was it.
The mermaid would die unless someone died for her.
Was it he or the prince that was the bitch?
...
The prince won, but the knight killed him.
The princess refused him, to his dismay.
The mermaid cried over the dead body on the ground on which he lay,
But when the witch revived him, he left for the princess.
...
The mermaid weeped as the two were wed.
By morning, she would die.
The morning arrived, and Sulpitius disguised as the prince.
They fought, getting himself injured and on the ground did he lie.
...
He told the prince he did it for the mermaid's sake,
The little mermaid who was the prince's true one-and-only.
She became eternal like a dream, appearing first to the prince.
He finally wanted her as he watched her go. As for him, he was unhappy.
THE END
...
