Hello there :D

Welcome to my second story! It will basically be about the interactions of my OC, Ryoko Furukawa, with the yuyu gang (especially Kurama) and how, thanks to them, she begins growing from a shy and insecure girl to a more open, gentle woman with an iron core.

Constructive criticismis is very welcome!

Chapter 1: Opposites

Summary: Ryoko muses over differences between her and our favorite fox. Do they drive them closer, or away from each other?

Timeline: After the Dark Tournament

Enjoy!

They were polar opposites.

Ryoko had realized it when they first met, but the length of their differences only dawned on her when rather unnerving feelings began stirring inside her for a certain redhead.

Their appearance, for starters.

Ryoko had bob-cut jet black hair, a round face and brown eyes. Botan cooed she was the cutest thing ever (why she thought so was beyond her), but, truth be told, she didn't look particularly impressive.

And then you had Kurama. Long, red hair that burned like fire, emerald eyes that glistened in the sun and delicate charming indeed. He has a fanclub for some reason, you know.

Personality-wise too. Kurama was calm, collected and had a natural charm that could enchant anyone. Ryoko, on the other hand, was a shy, bubbly nervous mess that couldn't hold a conversation with a classmate to save her life. The fact that she actually managed to speak properly with her friends (which are basically the Spirit Detective team and co.) was already a far improvement.

But there other differences. Some that normal people didn't know about.

Kurama was a demon, an ex-rogue thief on parole. He was kind at heart, he really was. But he was also perfectly capable of being vicious and cruel when needed. Roto and Karasu had experienced it firsthand. He wouldn't bat an eyelash, nor spare a second thought.

Ryoko was a shrine maiden-in-training, descendent of an old line of spiritually aware men and women who had vowed to fight the threat of demons. She might seem like the detached one at first, but she was a sweet and naïve girl. Very naïve. She didn't sleep the first time she killed someone.

Ryoko was aware of all of this. But after a lot of thinking and many sleepless nights (the bags under her eyes had gained her worried looks form Kurama and Botan alike), she reached a conclusion:

She did not care.

Because he had been the first to call out to her. He had become her friend and helped her make friends. He taught her, guided her, comforted her, cared for her. The list could keep on going.

So, yeah, they were polar opposites. Natural enemies, even. But you know what they say.

Opposites attract.
