*Your point of view*
You're sitting with you leg dangling over the water - the wooden pier behind you, creaking as you shift your balance. The skies reflect your mood. Smooth gray clouds cast over the sun, giving everything under them a grey tint. You hear the pier creak, even though you hadn't moved a finger. You refuse to turn your head to see if it's him. You can't bear to look at him yet. You hold in your tears - just like the clouds.
*His point of view*
She looked so peacefully in the distance. Her flaming hair slightly swayed with the warm breeze. You kept walking toward her at the end of the pier - cursing yourself for making so much unnecessary noise. But maybe it would make her look. You'd do anything to see her face again - her happy smiling face...but that was a long shot.
You finally reach her and kneel down before sitting beside her. What were you gonna say? You were never speechless! How could this have gotten you here...
All you wanted was her, you still do...how could you convince her that she meant more to you than your stupid reputation?
"I...um hi," you stammer.
She waited a whole minute of watching to squirm before answering, "Hi Spot."
"Do you think it'll rain today?" You said, finally back to your confident-Brooklyn self.
"I hope not," She replied.
Boy her Irish eyes were beautiful. Why were you turning into such a sap?
*Your point of view*
"I hope not," You replied. Why was he staring at you? 'He doesn't like me, the too newsie in Brooklyn doesn't need a girlfriend. No need to make him look weak,' you though to yourself.
"Can I ask you something?" You blurt out. He nods his head, so that a strand of his long hair comes loose from his cap. "Is your pride the most important thing to you?"
His expression doesn't change when he answers, "Yes," you look down at the mucky water, "it used to be."
You snap your head back up to look at him. He continued, "It used to be the most important thing in my world. Sellin' papes and my protecting pride. Until I met you. And I nevers meant ta make youse feel like you were less important than those things." His accent grew stronger the faster he spoke. You took a deep breath to process but his shining eyes kept you distracted, "Wh-What?" You blurt out.
*His point of view*
She asked me, "What?" and it was much more complicated than I made it seem. But it was the truth...
"You're the only one I have left. And I love you." She kept on looking at me and I thought again about how I wish I had my boys with me for support, "Well... What'a ya say?" I hesitate to ask. She looked at me one more time, before replying, "I say, that what you say, is what I say."
You smile so big that you have to look down at the water for fear that your face would crack open. She smiled back, and her freckles showed in the sun. "What would you say if I kissed you right now?" You ask her.
She smiled again, "I wouldn't say anything."
*Your point of view*
And you grabbed the back of his neck softly and brought him towards you. You smashed your lips against his and kissed him softly. "I love you too," you whispered...before pushing him into the water with a splash.
You're both laughing, even though he had a slight goofy scowl. "You better get in here or else!" he shouted at you, "We didn't get to finish." He said with a cheeky grin and a wink.
"Never fear! Brooklyn is here!" You yell before jumping into the water with a shriek. He kisses you on the cheek as it starts to rain, and you both smile as he kisses you again slowly.
