~Chapter Fifty-Five: Hospital Visit~

Matt's POV

I don't know what happened, one minute I was having a good conversation catching up with some of the guys from the team and the next Alexander is in front of me holding Becky in his arms saying we are going to the hospital. Now I am in the backseat trying to keep my wife calm as I silently panic and pray that they both will be ok. We finally reach the front entrance of the hospital and I am out of the car before we are fully park with Becky cradled in my arms as I rush in to the emergency department screaming for help.

"HELP SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! MY WIFE NEEDS HELP"

Two nurses run over asking, "What's the matter?"

"My wife she is almost eight months pregnant and she is in pain. Please help her."

One of the nurses goes to get a wheelchair while the other moves us further into the hospital. They have me set Becky in the wheelchair as they immediately start speaking about getting her into a room, grabbing the doctor and a sonogram machine. I just follow them in a panic not really paying attention to the words they are saying. All this movement around me and I didn't even pay attention until one of the nurses told me the doctor will be in shortly to help us. All I can do is walk over to Becky and hold her hand as she clenches in pain and sobs silently. God please don't let us lose our baby, please.

The doctor finally comes in and introduces himself. He asks a bunch of questions while he hooks her up to all these machines. One I recall he says was to locate the baby's heartbeat. We wait on bated breath until we finally hear it, once we do he informs us that it isn't beating as fast as it should and that he needs to do an internal exam on her. We get her in position and the doctor sticks his hand in her only to pull it back shouting at one of the nurses to prepare for labor.

The doctor then informs us that the placenta has likely detached and that Becky is already crowning and she will need to push. After that everything starts moving really quickly, Becky is in position, I'm behind her holding her up while the doctor tells her to push. She pushes three or four times, maybe more I lost count trying to stay strong for them, before the doctor says he is out and asks me if I want to cut the cord. I go over cut the cord and I hear my little boy give a weak cry before he is rushed into an incubator and wheeled out the room.

I return to my position next to Becky as she continues to cry and the doctor tells her they need to deliver the after birth. After that the doctor finally gets the bleeding to stop and explains to us that although our baby is early he has a good chance of surviving since he was so far along. He apologies to us and says he will go and check on our son and will return shortly with more information.

When he closes the door Becky just breaks down crying asking why this happened and I have no answer for her. All I can do is hold her in my arms and rock her until one of the nurses walk in with a sedative to help her sleep. I sit down in the chair next to her bed and cry as I watch her sleep thinking why us.

Alexander's POV

Raven and I sit in the waiting room holding each other as we pray for our friends and their baby. I hold Raven in my lap rubbing her belly as she quietly cries into my neck. We wait three hours and finally Matt walks in, eyes red rimmed and say, "Baby Matty was born at 2:15am on November first. He was 3lbs and 6oz. Doctor says he has some breathing problems and will have to stay here for a few weeks. They aren't sure what caused the placenta to detached but we were lucky we got here when we did. They had to sedate Becky and I am going to go back to be with her. If one of you could call our parents I would truly appreciate it."

As he turns to leave, Raven gets up quickly to walk over and give him a long, tight hug whispering, "Everything will be ok I promise your little boy will be just fine."

"I hope so." Is all he says as he pulls out of the hug and walks away.

Raven stands there for a moment crying as she rubs her belly saying, "Please God don't take their baby. Please let him be ok."

As I am about to ask her if she wants me to call their parents I am pulled into a vision from my son. In my mind I see him pushing with his power to make Raven go into labor soon and then the vision changes and I see him in an incubator next to little Matty's with him pushing out with his powers to wrap him in his shield. As I look it seems like his shield is healing them both and the doctors don't know what is causing the improvement so quickly. I frown as I am pulled from the vision and I walk over to Raven, I kneel in front of her and whisper to me son in Romanian, "Are you sure you want to do this son?"

I just get the same vision as before, so I sigh, kiss her belly and say, "Please be careful, mommy and daddy need and love you so much son." I give her belly one more gentle kiss before standing up and saying, "Raven love don't panic but your about to go into labor."

"Alexander what are you talking about? No I am not and that's not funny."

"I'm not joking and I am only giving you the heads up because our son is about to make it happen so he can help save his friend."

"What do you mmmmm….Oh fudge that freaking hurts!" She screams as her water breaks and I am already rushing her towards the nurse's desk.

"Ma'am my wife's water just broke."

"Ok ok sir, place her in the wheel chair over by the door and I will page the doctor as we get you guys set up in a room. How far along is she?"

"She is almost eight months." I say as I place Raven in the wheel chair as she grips the sides cursing the entire time about the pain.

We are rushed into a room as the doctor comes in and starts checking her over. The next thing I know is the doctor is shouting at her to push and Raven has a death grip on my hand. For some reason it felt like the birth went extremely fast because the next thing I know is I am cutting the cord and my little boy is placed into an incubator and rushed out the room. As the nurse carrying my baby leaves I put the thought in her mind to place him next to little Matt's incubator.

Doctor goes through the process of delivering the after birth and cleaning Raven up before explaining that our baby is a bit small and needs to be in the incubator for a while to get healthier. Once he leaves the room Raven turns to me and says, "What just happened? Why did he do that?"

"He didn't think little Matt was going to make it on his own and he wanted to be there to help him get better."

"How can he help him get better?"

"Apparently his shield also has the ability to heal those inside it with him. He's going to use that to make him and Matt stronger and healthier."

"Now that he is here, how will we get it the blood he is going to need to survive. I don't want him to starve Alexander."

"He won't love, I promise you he won't. Even if I have to wipe the nurses mind as we sneak him blood I will. Our son will survive. Now get some rest and I will call all our parents to give them the news. I love you Raven."

"I love you to Alexander. Please go check on him after you make the calls and make sure he eats."

"I will love I promise. Now rest you will need your strength."

I rub her head gently until she drifts off to sleep. I then take out my phone and start making all the necessary calls. I than walk over to the NICU and ask if I can go in. The nurse sets me up in protective gear and walks me over to the incubators. I can see his shield wrapped around both incubators and I smile with pride that my son is so bad ass he can take care of himself. As I get closer he lets his shield down long enough for me to walk in and he immediately puts it back up. I sit in the chair next to his and I just watch him for a while before I start humming to him softly until him and little Matt falls into a peaceful sleep. I can't believe my little A.J. is only 4lbs and born on November first at 3:10am. My son is finally here and I can't even hold him yet.
