A/N: Hi guys, in all honesty I was really done with this fan fiction but for some reason I had a stir of passion for this particular fic and started to write. I really want to finish it but I think I'm only half way throughXD Special to thanks to all the love for the previous chapter. Rereading them definitely played a role in this update ;)

And he was right for on the other side of said door the blonde sat on the floor, leaning her head against the wall, feet drawn to her chest.

Her heart ached. Her head hurt and she couldn't get those random images caused by that thing out of her head.

Everything hurt. The brown diary looking book laid opened mid page with dried, old blood splattered in the middle. She had attempted to read it but had found herself throwing it across the room when a bunch of random images randomly assaulted her instead. Images that held her mom and white magic and the sky and ceremonies or some type of haunted like rituals and a race that seemed to have fallen into extinction.

She didn't understand what was going on.

She wanted this pain in her already aching heart gone.

Na-natsu, please help me….

Water slid down her cheek as she grasped her head.

Chapter 11

In a magical realm, where planets sparkled and the light of the stars strive, a wave of darkness echoed.

"Gemini…what have you done?"

The tone dropped and a fist clenched within the darkness when there was no response. "Why did you give Lucy that book?" Teeth gritted. "Damn it, she wasn't ready."

"Loke," came the twin response, "It's what Layla-sama would have wanted."

"You know as hell as I do Layla wouldn't have wanted her daughter to suffer like this. Giving her their memories, what were you thinking!?"

Suddenly the voices fused, bringing with it a tone reminiscent to that of the late Heartfilia. "Open up your eyes, Loke! I had no choice. For so long that clan has hidden the truth from her and each day that passes runs the risk that she will die. Layla would have wanted Lucy prepared in every way possible."

"Natsu and the rest will protect her."

There was a pause and then tears were spilling down ivory cheeks, dripping into a pool of darkness. "Haven't the Heartfilia clan suffered enough already." A sniff. "We promised Layla-sama we would protect the rest of her bloodline for all eternity. We will do anything to protect Lucy-sama. We don't want Lucy-same to die. Do you know how we felt watching Layla-sama die!?"

"No…I can never understand how it feels, Gemini but Lucy wasn't ready."

"Lucy has to be, Loke! The rogues will find a way to reach her. Acnologia will stop at nothing until he has her. She deserves to know the truth. Layla-sama would have wanted that."

A hoarse, tired whisper: "And how do you know that."

"Because we are Layla-sama."

Na-natsu, please help me.

Charcoal eyes snapped opened.

Natsu was forced to take a step back as something electric zapped at his body.

"What the…"

And he felt it. Lucy's magical power was rising. A-fucking-gain.

No. No. This couldn't be happening. Not after all he had gone through. Why? Damn it!? She wasn't eighteen yet.

Na-natsu please help me.

That voice. Lucy was calling for him.

His hand curled into a fist.

Lucy was calling for him.

He had to—would protect her.

Angrily, he made to smash the door opened but white light sparked all over the place, lashing out at him and effectively rendering his attack useless. In fact so strong was this energy that his feet slid forcefully backwards and his eyes widened slightly as he watched the white magical like electricity crawl all over the walls in a raging upheaval. Lashing out and writhing painfully this way and that way.

What the…

"Natsu, Lucy!" Erza along with the other members of his family rushed towards him.

His eyes narrowed

"Lucy-chan!" exclaimed Mirajane worriedly.

Gajeel and Gray wasted no time to act.

"Ice Make!"

"Roar of the Iron Dragon!"

But their attacks had no effect on the foreign magic.

Abruptly, a magical circle surfaced from the walls. Soon, whispered voices of a type of incantation sounded.

"What the fuck?" Gajeel glared all around him. The whispers seemed to be coming from everywhere with its haunted melody and foreign words.

Levy twisted her face in concentration as she struggled to memorize words and tone she had never heard before. "Lu-chan…" Wendy gripped her tiny little hands tighter as her body trembled. "Char-Charle…I'm scared?" Charle swallowed but bravely stepped in front of her companion.

Everyone else prepared to launch an attack.

Mirajane's satin soul immediately activated. She outstretched her hands, allowing for dark energy to gather. A second later and the whole upper floor would have been destroyed by dark energy if not for the flames that mercilessly fled passed everyone only to viciously crash into the door. The door and walls exploded as flames poured into the room. With it emerged the wrath of a very pissed off pink headed male.

"Lucy!" he exclaimed watching in horror as the same white magic sparked all over her.

"Na-natsu," Then it was happening. The white light was beginning to eat away at her body.

She raised a hand nimbly towards him, body shaking in fear and he ran to her. What the hell was going on? Lucy. She was disappearing. No. He couldn't lose his mate, not when he had finally found her.

Natsu outstretched his bandaged hand. "Lucy!"

"Na-natsu…"

And then a magical circle appeared beneath her, bright light exploded and the next thing everyone knew both Lucy and Natsu had been swallowed by the bright light.

Gajeel's eyes lowered. "Fuck."

Upon a throne carved out from the gates of hell sat the king of a very powerful civilization. His hair was long and white and there were silver markings carved at each side of his face. Various circles of fire launched into the ceiling, pumping and yearning viciously for new flesh. The launching of fire soon turned to black. Gates to this large dark arena creaked opened slowly as shadows slipped in as casually as ever.

Acnologia's eyes opened very slowly. With a lazy glare he eyed each of his followers who were now bowing before him. All except one: Zeref who seemed as emotionless as ever. He smirked. "Zeref."

"Acnologia."

The man's smirk grew wickedly and gracefully he stood, dark grey cloak mimicking his movements. "Still referring to me as Acnologia, son."

Zeref smiled sadly.

Acnologia scowled as he surveyed the nine demon gates whom surrounded the black wizard. "Where is the girl?"

Mard Geer was the first to move. From his bowed position he dropped to his left knee. The others followed suit. "My Lord, we did not anticipate the return of Natsu Dragneel and his friends."

Acnologia's eyes narrowed and he hissed, "What."

Suddenly, the various circles of pumping black fire soon turned silver. It lashed out ferociously before snapping into each other and then separating into five dragons. The roar that followed next shook the entire place and it rushed in a haze of madness towards the nine demon gates. The result would have been catastrophic had black magic not abruptly tore through the ground, surrounding them in a swirl of darkness.

Lips turned downwards in distaste, Acnologia dully dispelled the dragons. "What is the meaning of this, Zeref?"

Zeref gave his father a bored look. "They are my followers and I will punish them as I see fit."

Acnologia arched a brow. "Oh?"

He sat down and rested a knuckle against his cheek. "Leave us."

The slightly trembling members of the nine demon gates nodded their heads. "Yes, your majesty." And just as easily had they slipped in just as easily had their shadows slipped out.

The fire resumed pumping into the air and had returned to a peaceful red-orange. "Is there any specific reason why the Heartfilia girl is not here, Zeref."

Zeref shrugged. "It is just as Mard Geer said, Acnologia. We did not anticipate the return of Natsu Dragneel. After all he had vanished for nine years. His reappearance could not be anticipated by the nine demon gates."

"But you anticipated his return, did you not, boy."

A pause. "Yes, I did. Makarov was there. All of Fairy Tail was there also and Gildarts was heading in the direction of the tournament. The outcome would not have been to our advantage. The nine demon gates and I are not enough to destroy them."

"Then why did you not take the spriggan twelve with you," Acnologia growled annoyed.

"The spriggan twelve is on par with Fairy Tail. The battle would have taken too long and there is a risk that Lucy Heartfilia would be taken to the Celestial Realm. You and I both know we are unable to travel to that realm."

Acnologia stood again. "Zeref, regardless of your excuses, you are more than capable of bringing back to me one measly human girl or have you forgotten your promise."

The arena started to shake and soon two extremely large red metallic doors situated behind the throne began to tear apart.

"This is your punishment."

Bright white light scattered around everywhere and Zeref's eyes widened.

They were surrounded by darkness. Natsu wrapped his arms tighter around the quivering blonde the more they descended into the foreign realm. The whispered voices from the hall were back again. Below them the white magical circle of light opened. Natsu's gaze darkened as they passed through them and then it was happening. Images. Too many images to count were flashing roughly through his mind and the magical circle expanded, morphing slowly into an image of a woman who looked very similar to Lucy.

For a moment the woman distorted and then the scene seemed to be traveling across mountains of an ancient age. Deeper they journeyed until finally the scene halted within a dark cave. Torches lighted. Various beings cloaked in white cloaks surrounded an upraised altar. The same voices back from the hall were back only this time they were coming from the cloaked figures. It was some type of incantation.

Natsu felt Lucy's quivering increased. He wanted to yell; to move in front of her; to protect her from what he knew was coming next. Neither of them were able to speak and the only thing Natsu could really do was to hold her even tighter in an effort to comfort.

The noises grew. From the torches the fire lashed out. Bright almost blinding light stroke down on the altar. The whispers grew more urgent and frantic until finally the light dispersed and emerging from its place was a naked woman who looked extremely identical to Lucy.

The voices whispered again.

Anna.

The stable scene distorted before changing again.

At top of a hill, stood Anna, Acnologia, Igneel, the spirit king and a witch with the crooked hat. A spell was cast and the human race's fate was locked.

The scene suddenly jumped forward a myriad of images and then finally they halted on another woman whom was more identical to Lucy than the previous. She was kneeling before the woman named Anna whom was sitting on a throne.

"Layla."

"Yes, mother."

"Layla, I've seen it. Our clan will reach extinction come the night of tomorrow." A pause. "Only you will survive."

A sob.

"In years to come you will give birth to Lucy whom will bear all of the Heartfilia's sins. Lucy will suffer and if things are not changed she will die once she reaches the age of eighteen. This is the price we are to pay. I disobeyed the gods and as such father exiled me to be imprisoned by the humans. Yet the sin I have committed has back fired on me once more. The spell I helped cast meant to help the demons by taking a human will now take my very own for you, Layla though not human will fall for a human and Lucy will bear the penance for that spell." Another cry; this time not from Layla but from Anna.

"I am so sorry."

Tears descended into the darkness and then darkness surrounded both Lucy and Natsu. The magic circle appeared again so did the whispers.

Levy cried loudly once she noticed white electricity began zapping all over Lucy's room. It had been seven days since their disappearance. Everyone had tried basically everything to find them and each night either her or Mira, Lissanna or one of the girls would come to the room, hopping, wishing with all their might that their precious family members would return.

Tonight Levy had came here because she had felt hopeless. The celestial spirits weren't sure what was happening. Loke himself seemed distant and refused to see any of them when summoned by another spirit. No one had known where they were. Whether they were safe and Levy had came to Lucy's room to vent all of her frustrations: to talk about Lucy's dreams; about how much everyone love her; how her friends kept coming to the mansion each day asking about her; how sting nearly got throttled by Gajeel; how much Natsu loved her; when he would finally confessed; the things he did just for her; the way he only smiled for her. She had talked about anything and everything and now something was happening.

She yelled for the others when she finally regained her senses. They must have felt the strange presence too because they were there just a second after her call.

"What is happening, Levy?" Erza asked, equipping into her heavenly swords persona.

Everyone had also activated their magic. Demon Mirajane hovered above the others, the ball of satin soul levitated across her palm.

Levy shook her head. "I don't know. I was standing here, talking and then magic activated. Is it Lu-chan and Natsu? Are they coming back?"

Gajeel snorted. "It might be something else."

Yellow electricity sparked all over Laxus as he cracked his knuckles. "If so it betta be the fuckers responsible for that incantation."

The whispers of multiple voices activated again. The magic circle appeared on the floor. This time it was much larger than before for it occupied the floor's entire grounds.

For a moment the light blinded each of them but faded seconds afterwards. The magic circle still remained as well as the voices; however—

Everyone's eyes widened in shock.

Kneeling on his right knee was Natsu Dragneel, their precious nakama, and in his arms was the girl whom grew up way too quick.

"Lu-chan! Natsu!"

Happy cried excitedly and made an attempt to go to them; however the electricity lashed out and Gray barely caught the blue cat before the collision could commence. "Happy, everyone stay away from Natsu until the magic disperses!"

Happy sniffed, sobbing quietly into Gray's bare chest. This wasn't fair.

Levy grasped her mouth. "Lu-chan…Natsu…they're okay…they're safe," she cried, sliding onto the ground, her legs in a v like position beneath her as she wiped her eyes.

By now the magic circle was beginning to shrink.

Natsu was still as still as ever. Once the spell finally dispersed, everyone crowded the extremely quiet man.

"Natsu?" Erza questioned worriedly.

When his chin snapped upwards almost everyone took a step back frozen in slight fear at what they saw.

On top of his head protruded black, deadly looking horns. His eyes were bloody red and they were black tattoos decorating the side of his face. As his grip tightened around the unconscious blonde, his breathing grew more harsh and he seemed to be glaring with such vicious animosity that Wendy found herself grabbing her chest at that rabid look.

Once he realized there was no immediate danger to his mate, the tattoos slowly retracted and he pressed his nose frantically against the gap between shoulder and neck.

No one said anything, watching as Natsu held the un-moving blonde.

"Natsu…Is Lucy…" Lissanna.

"I can't save her…"

Everyone startled.

"I can't save her…[his bandaged hand grabbed her clothing even tighter] I can't save Lucy," he whimpered.

It was the second time they had seen him break: when his entire family had been massacre Natsu had cried amongst the rain. After that they had never seen the boy from before; only mere fragments. And all that was left in his stead was a man that was always so angry, so distant and cold yet now it appeared as if he were breaking. His body was shaking as if he were afraid to let go.

Natsu squeezed his eyes shut. It hurt. It hurts so fucking much and he pressed his face deeper into her skin as a red tear squeezed out of his eyes.

"Lucy…."
