"You shouldn't be here." Miles glanced over at Charlie. "This is a bar."

"Yeah, I know. You shouldn't be here either." she told him.

"I'm over drinking age."

"So am I."

He raised his eyebrows.

"I turned twenty one last month."

"Oh. Have a beer then." Miles was slightly drunk already as he pushed a heavy glass toward her. It missed and sloshed out over the counter.

"I might. Why are you here?" Charlie reached out her hand to stop the glass from tipping all the way over. She sipped it and made a face. "Also, why would you drink that?"

"Gets better."

"I know why you're here, Miles." she rushed ahead without waiting for an answer, she already knew it anyway. "Getting drunk isn't going to bring back Nora. She wouldn't like this, you know."

"Nora liked beer. You're no fun." he turned away from her.

"Miles, please listen to me." Charlie pleaded.

"You're not going to shut up, are you?"

"No. And I'm not going away."

"Figured that out a long time ago. You don't go away, you don't shut up, you always want to talk," he rambled on for a bit.

Charlie just leaned against the bar and listened to him ramble. She took another sip of the beer. "Still sucks." she remarked.

"Life sucks, Charlie." he interrupted his own ramblings to agree with her.

"Damn right. But, getting drunk isn't going to make it better."

"Don't say damn. Kids can't say damn."

She scoffed. "I'm not a kid anymore. We've been through too much."

"We are not kids. You are."

"Whatever. C'mon, you need to get back to quarters before someone tattles to the President."

"Not nearly drunk enough yet."

"You really want to face President Foster in the morning with a hangover?" she asked.

Miles gave her a long look. "You really are no fun. Maybe that's why Jason,"

"That's enough. I don't want to talk about him, anymore then you want to talk about Nora." she broke in.

"Fair enough," he sighed. "You're no fun but you're right."

"Good. Go sleep it off and I'll try my best to get the meeting rescheduled."

"For never?"

"Probably can't do that." she gave him a small smile. "But I'll try."

A/N - originally, this was written for the finale, before I'd actually seen it but knew who died. But, I suppose it also works for a post episode fic for "The Longest Day". Whichever you prefer :) Please review!
