AN: I am SO sorry this chapter is so late :(

HOWEVER, if you missed my update before this one you should go back and read the change I made to the 1st chapter…I changed the scene where Sophie is trying to find her way out of the woods, so that it now plays more on her using her new abilities :)

Please let me know what you think of the change; oh and thank you PhoenixAccio for pointing out my mistake last chapter and opening up the opportunity to improve my story, and go deeper into Sophie's powers ;)

And thank you rachealninja10 for the gas station's name :D

Anyway, without further adieu, here is chapter 2 of Seraphina's Helper :D

"Talking"

'Thoughts'

Disclaimer: Sadly I do not own Rise of the Guardians, nor The Guardians of Childhood series, they belong to DreamWorks and William Joyce respectively :)

Previously…

As I sit there on my knees with the kid in front of me crying, I suddenly feel a cold hollow feeling run through me as the woman leans through me to pick up her crying child and check him for any injuries.

Once the initial shock is over, I get up and turn around to see that the kid is okay and the woman turns and walks straight through me again as she puts her kid back in the car before getting in herself and driving off.

I take a deep breath, and then let it go before responding to what I have just witnessed.

"I'm dead…"

Chapter 2

(Sophie's POV)

Once I got over the initial shock, which comes with realizing you are dead, I noticed that the boy and his family were gone. I looked around the parking lot of the Gearhead Gas Station and realized that the place was slowly emptying out, which means that I would not be able to hitch a ride out of here.

I knew I wanted answers. Why was I dead? What was I running from? Moreover, how did I die? I was not sure where I was going to find my answers; but, I knew a good place to start. I had to find the Guardians, they would be able to, at least, help me start looking.

The only problem was I was pretty much stuck in the middle of the forest, where I doubt anyone could find me. So, I started walking. I went down the road that leads back to Burgess. Maybe there I would be able to find Jack, and then he could find a way to take me to the other Guardians?

I hope so, because I seriously do not know how I died, or why I was brought back…maybe once we get to North, he will be able to explain this situation a bit better?

After walking for a while, the wind started to pick up a bit and brought with it a cool breeze. However, it was not just any cool breeze this breeze was cold! So, I looked up and just caught a glimpse of Jack just shooting out of sight towards Burgess.

'Well, at least now I know he's there. The tricky part will be finding him.' I think with exasperation as I start to run after him.

Next thing I know, I've tripped on a huge rock on the side of the road. I close my eyes, waiting for the searing pain that comes from falling on a paved road. But…neither the pain, nor the impact, ever came. All I felt was a gentle breeze ruffling my hair.

I slowly open my eyes and look down only to realize that I was floating 10 feet (3.0480 meters) above the road, suspended and held in place by the wind itself. I then looked around more to see if Jack had seen me, and was the cause of the wind catching me. But, as I slowly looked at my surroundings, I realized that Jack was nowhere to be found. Which can only mean one of two things…1) there was another spirit who is friends with the wind and took pity on me, or 2) I have the ability to fly just like Jack! Since I didn't see any other spirits around, I went with the latter option.

Which, that in itself is both a good and a bad thing, as I soon found out. I suddenly noticed that I had no way of knowing how to get down…nor did I know how to actually fly and get from place to place like Jack does.

As this train of thought ends, I think 'Boy does Jack make this look easy…But, then again, he did have 300 plus years of practice under his belt, and I have what 30 to 40 minutes of just figuring out that I'm a spirit to begin with!'

As I continue to ramble on in my head, I figure that now is as good as any time to start practicing. So, I start by trying to get back down to the ground. This is harder than it looks, but I eventually succeed and land on the ground, very ungracefully, with a hard thud and possibly bruise my butt in the process.

I continue to practice until I can comfortably take-off, land 'safely', and move about in the air reasonably well. Once this is taken care of, I start once again towards Burgess, in the hopes that Jack is still there.

By the time I get to the town, it is already time for all the schools to let out. So, I knew it wouldn't be too hard to find Jack, if he was still in town.

As soon as I got close enough, I dropped down and landed behind one of the restaurants that were at the edge of town. I walked out of the small alley, which led to the back of the restaurant, and onto the sidewalk. The streets and walkways were full of teenagers and kids who had just been let out of school.

It still feels weird, and completely wrong, to have people walk right through me, so I tried to avoid them as much as possible. While doing this, I slowly made my way to the one place I knew Jack would be at this time of the day, the park.

However, as I'm walking through the town square, I notice something in one of the storefront windows. So, I turn to get a closer look only to find out that I was something that I never believed I'd see so soon. There, staring right at me, is a poster for an up and coming book series with a picture of the author next to a picture of the first book in the series. And to my complete disbelief, and joy, the author is none other than my brother Jamie! I remember him telling me last year that he was working on a book series and was planning to get it published, but I didn't think it would be happening this soon!

As I'm standing there staring at my brother's poster, being filled with awe, pride and joy at my brother's accomplishments, I completely ignore the people walking through me. That is, until I hear a very familiar, and very mischievous, voice behind me.

"Huh, I've never seen you before, you must be new. I guess MIM is still keeping busy."

I turn around and there is the person I've been looking for since I saw him flying over my head earlier this morning. There, in all his pranking glory, was the one and only Jack Frost, balancing atop a street lamp with his arms balancing his staff on his shoulders…the perfect picture of ease and indifference, with just a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

"So, what's your name?" he asks once he sees he has my attention.

End of Chapter 2

AN: Once again, I am SO SORRY for taking so long in updating this story, but I have already gotten started on the next chapter, and my muse is working so far so hopefully it won't take so long this time around to update the next chappie :/

And again, thank you PhoenixAccio and rachealninja10 for helping me out with my story and inspiring ideas for the story, I greatly appreciate it :D

Now, here are the questions for this chapter:

1) What should the name of the town, where Sophie lived and went to college, be?

2) What pranks should Sophie play on Jack?

3) What pranks should Jack play on Sophie and/or Bunny?

4) What do you think will happen when Sophie meets up with the rest of the Guardians?

R&R!
