Chapter Three

For the next few weeks, Mark had a bit lovey dovey with John and the younger man couldn't figure out why. He was a bit afraid that maybe Mark was planning on breaking up with him. He didn't want that to happen, but what could he do?

Randy was no help. He tried to investigate and pump some info out of Glenn, but the bigger man saw through his lover's schemes and placed him on time out, meaning no sex for a month. Randy paced John and Mark's living room as he tried to think of what was going on through Mark's mind.

"Randy, you're wearing a hole into my carpet," John said after awhile.

"I can't help it," Randy said as he plopped down next to the blond on the couch. "Why are you more curious?"

John shook his head. "I can't be stressing over nothing."

Randy stared at his friend.

"Yes, I'm stressing but not like you. It's like you're in the relationship with Mark than me."

The younger man sighed. "John, you're my friend and I don't want you to get hurt. I love Mark, but he can be an ass. When you both got together, I was afraid...deathly afraid. So afraid that I told Glenn if he hurt you, I'm killing him."

John stared at his friend.

Randy nodded. "Mark has more exes that Hunter, Glenn, you, or me combined...include Kofi in that mix."

John sighed and rubbed his face. "I don't want to think about it. I don't want to think that he might leave me because he found someone else. I...just want to think about it."

The younger man shot up from his seat. "What if he wants to marry you?"

The blond gave him a look. "Think about what you just said to me."

Randy placed his hands on his hips and looked up at the ceiling. "You're right. That is kind of crazy of Mark. What if his job wants to relocate him out of the country and that's why he's been acting so lovey dovey?"

"You think he might break up with me because of that?"

"Or might ask you to come along with him?" Randy sat on the edge of the coffee table. "But would you be willing to leave everything?"

John scratched his throat as he thought about it. He loved Mark and wanted to be with him. If Mark's job really did want him to relocate, was John willing to up and move?

He started to feel a bit nauseated at the thought. He got up and went straight to the bathroom and threw up. Randy stood in the doorway and watched. John flushed the toilet and tried to stand back up. His friend had to help him to the sink so he could rinse out his mouth, but he ended up vomiting into the sink.

Randy held him and stared straight ahead as he rubbed John's back.

Mark walked in and watched the two. "John, you okay?"

John shook his head and slowly started to straighten up. Mark came to his side and took his boyfriend from Randy. He led John to their bedroom while Randy cleaned up.

John lay down and curled up.

"John?" Mark said.

"I just...I got really sick all of a sudden," John said.

"Do you need me to get you anything?"

Mark nodded. He jumped up and went to the kitchen. He poured a cup and went back to his lover. John struggled to get back up, but Randy told him to stay down.

"John, just lay back down," Mark said as he came back in. He sat down and lifted John's head.

John made a face and shook his head. He lay back down and gritted his teeth.

"Maybe we should take him to the hospital," Randy suggested.

"No," John moaned.

Mark stared at him and replied, "You don't look so good."

"They'll just take forever," John replied.

"Well, we need to figure out what is wrong with you." Mark helped him up with Randy's assistance.

They got him to the car and Randy took his vehicle and followed behind. Sure enough, it took eight hours before John got a room and a doctor to look at his charts. By then, Randy had went home.

"Sorry for the long wait," he replied. "Well, Mr. Cena, looking at results from the tests we've done, you're not pregnant. Your blood pressure is a bit high, but that might be due to the pain you're in."

John smiled. "I could have told you that."

"Hey, can't rule that out," the doctor replied.

John nodded while Mark looked on.

"You're going to keep you here until the morning and perform an ultrasound if that's okay with you," the doctor said.

John nodded and looked to Mark. "Mark?"

Mark snapped out of his trance. "What?"

"They're going to keep me here," John said. "You can go home."

Mark got comfortable in the couch. "No, I'm staying."

"Honey, you know that that pull out won't be comfortable for you. Last time you slept in one, your back was out of whack for two weeks."

The older man shook his head. "No, I'm staying here. I don't want you to be alone."

"I won't be alone."

The doctor nodded in agreement. "He has all the pretty nurses to help take care of him."

"It's not the nurses that I'm worried about," Mark said.

John shook his head. "Baby, go home. Get some rest. I'll be fine."

Mark took John's hand. "But I don't want to leave you."

"I know, but I don't want you to be hurting in the morning."

"Let me see if I can get a cot in here," the doctor said. "Will that be better?"

Both men looked at him and nodded.

The doctor left.

Mark kissed John's hand.

"You're so sweet," John said.

"No, I'm worried. My baby is in here and there's nothing that I can do," Mark said.

"Don't worry. They'll figure it out."

John began to gag and Mark handed him a bowl to throw up whatever was left in his stomach. Mark just watched his young boyfriend. He felt helpless and wanted to do something to make John feel better.

"Mark?" John said.

"Hmm," came from the older man.

"Are you planning on leaving me?"

Mark stared into those baby-blues that he loved so much. "What?"

"You've been acting so strange. Randy thinks that your job might be relocated you and that's why you've been so loving."

The older man just shook his head. "That's not it. I've had a lot on my mind and no, breaking up with you isn't one of them."

John nodded and gagged again. He soon stopped and lay back down.

Mark took the bowl and went to throw out the vomit. He washed out the bowl and went back to his seat.

An orderly rolled in a cot and set it up for Mark.

"Thanks, man," the older man said.

"No problem," the orderly said before he left.

Mark sat back down and held John's hand.

"You should go to sleep," the blond said.

The older man smiled. "I want to hold your hand a little while longer."

John nodded and got comfortable. He soon fell asleep. Mark watched over him for the rest of the night.
