Hey y'all! Sorry about how long it took me to post this! I have had this one written for a while, but have hadn't been able to post. This is a shorter chapter, but there will be more to come! Please comment and favorite!
After dinner and night fell, everyone was left to their thoughts of how we would over come this new combination of foes. I knew where everyone was except for Peter; then an idea crossed my mind.
I made my way up to the roof and found him sitting there, staring out at the glittering New York skyline. "Hey," he greeted me, with out breaking his gaze of the distant skyline.
"Hey how are you doing?"
"I've been better," he paused, "I can't help but think about how many people are out there suffering right now due to my failure."
"We all failed Peter," I told him while I took a seat next to him.
"I know… but Mysterio is my responsibility."
"Yes, and Malfoy is ours, we are the ones who brought him here, to your dimension."
"Anyways I still feel responsible for everything that happened. Especially after everything with my uncle, I feel as if it has become my responsibility to do everything I can to protect the people of this city."
"I know! So then why aren't you out there right now! At least making rounds of the city."
He took a deep breath, as if trying to deny the words that were about to escape his mouth. "I can't… I can't go into that city with the possibility of running into the two of them again." Silence bore down between us, "I need to figure out how to beat them."
"We, Peter, we need to figure this out, together."
"Hermione, I've never had to face an enemy like this, one that I can't use science to defeat. I don't know what to do!"
"Then let us help you. We want to help you Peter." I said pulling myself closer to him and putting my arm on his. He looked into my eyes, breaking his gaze at the city for the first time since I climbed up the fire escape. He seemed, in that moment, to be more handsome than every. The stars behind him emphasized the dark brown of his eyes; I could not break his gaze.
"Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?" I couldn't help but blush at his compliment.
The silence was broken by the clanking of shoes on the metal of the fire escape and we quickly broke each other's gaze. Ron came trotting up the metal stairs. "Oh, there you guys are!" He said with words of distrust as he glared at Peter. "Hermione, Harry is looking for you, he says that he might have an idea. What were you guys doing up here?"
"Just talking," Peter hastily spoke, feeling her anger towards Ron for the way that he was speaking. "Hermione you better go down and see what Harry wants. I'll be down in a sec. I think I might go swing around the city for a little bit, maybe even stop a petty crime or two." His sarcasm came spilling through with every word.
I made my way over to the fire escape, and begun my way down into the house. As soon as I was out of sight I heard Ron saying something along the lines of, "I don't like you, especially how close you're getting to Hermione." I gave a deep sigh, shook my head, and ducked through the window into the house to find Harry waiting for me just inside. We made our way to the kitchen, while he was telling me about how determined Ron was to go up and get me.
He must have been planning on talking to Peter the whole time. I really do wish that he would just back off. We are good friends why can't that be enough? Oh well, Peter's too smart to pay any attention to whatever it is Ron has to say. He's pretty brave too...and kind of cute... NO, HERMIONE! You know that you need to get back to Hogwarts, which means you'll most likely never see him again.
"Hermione? Hermione? Hello?" Harry was waving his hands in front of my face trying to bring me back from my own thoughts. "Everything all right? You kinda spaced there."
"Yeah I'm ok, just a lot on my mind right now. What's up? Ron said that you had an idea."
"What do you know about the Gemini curse?"
