Chapter Two:

The Longest Day

Augusta was terrified of what would happen. She appeared in the Auror bay of the hospital, without a healer or trainee in sight. There was an alarm bell going off above the nurse's station so she knew she only had mere moments to bind the girl-child to Harry and Neville so that her parents wishes could be honoured. Augusta pulled a silver athame from the sheath upon her waist, and with it she pricked all three children's hands. Harry, having been told by Neville to be quiet, was, for once. Neither shed a tear at the prick, but Hermione woke with a whimper. Augusta quickly held their bleeding palms together and uttered an ancient Longbottom Family incantation. "Dominatus belli cantus de sanguine, familia mea, tres isti ligaveris!" she intoned solemnly, forever marking the three as siblings. No matter what anyone said now, the three children could never be seperated.
