90Final Chapter.
Chapter 27: Memories of Somebody
Sitting on a bed, Nicara peered out the window above her to see a crescent moon hanging over the white barren desert. The view was never changing, or at least not that she knew of. There was no day or night as it's been the same since yesterday, she couldn't believe that this was the world Grimmjow came from. This truly was a world of darkness. Pure twilight.
Yesterday, Nicara had woken up to find herself locked up inside a large room with plain cement walls. The ceiling was probably ten meters high and everything was white. On one side of the room was a queen sized bed, the other side had a couch and a small coffee table. There was also a door that lead to a bathroom.
Ulquiorra had been keeping her cooped up in the room, occasionally bringing in food for her to eat. Honestly she didn't mind too much it could've been worse. He hadn't hurt her and properly fed her, it just felt a little lonely with no one around. It had only been a day or two, but she already missed Grimmjow and the others. Maybe she shouldn't have agreed to come with Ulquiorra in the first place.
This morning after breakfast, Ulquiorra laid a white gown on Nicara's bed.
"What's with the dress?" Nicara questioned, examining it. The dress, no, the gown was white in color, with a halter neckline. It looked beautiful, and was probably really expensive.
"You will change into the dress."
"Why?" she questioned. It wasn't an unreasonable request, just slightly odd.
"Your questions will all be answered very soon. I will come back in one hour and take you to one of the experiment labs." he simply answered, walking out of the room to let her change.
Nicara sighed, unsatisfied with Ulquiorra's answer because it was the same one he's been giving her. She had so many questions running through her head and she wanted answers. She still didn't believe the fact that her nightmares were actually memories. However, she had seen his face before, knew his name, and the crescent moon and barren desert seemed all to familiar. He had to be telling the truth, whether she wanted to believe him or not.
After pacing around her room for three quarters of an hour, she finally decided to put the dress on. The gown was simple, yet elegant. The halter neckline and empire waist helped her small bust look larger. The sheer lacy fabric of the halter neckline showed off her shoulders while the empire waist accentuated her bust and masked her midsection. Somehow it was the right size and perfect fit, almost like it was tailored for her. She couldn't help but to observed herself in the mirror. Overall the dress made her look absolutely beautiful.
There was a quick knock on the door. Must be Ulquiorra, she thought.
"Come in."
Ulquiorra pushed the door open, but stayed at the doorway, observing Nicara.
"I see that you're done. We should make our way to the experiment room, they're almost here."
"Who? Are you talking about Grimmjow?"
"Yes, and a couple others."
"I don't understand. Why haven't you given my memories back yet? Did you just take me so you could lure them here?"
"I can't take the seal off your memories alone, I must wait for one of the shinigami that's coming along with them. "
"One of the shinigami? Who would that be?"
"Gin!" Rangiku yelped with joy, running into the arms of her lover. "I missed you." The two shinigami's closed their distance with a tight embrace.
"Missed you too, Ran-chan." he replied while taking in her sweet scent and burying his head into her golden locks.
Rangiku was delighted that Gin was coming along, she hadn't seem him in months. Grimmjow, on the other hand, wasn't as ecstatic. He didn't hate Gin like he despised Aizen and Tousen, but they weren't exactly acquaintances either. There was something about that fox he still didn't trust.
"Well ain't it my old pal Grimmjow. I heard that the human we're trying to retrieve is your girlfriend. Never thought I'd see the day you would fall in love."
"Shut the fuck up!" Grimmjow growled. "That's none of your business."
"Aww, did I make the big kitty upset?" he teased.
Grimmjow's brows twitched in annoyance before he loss his temper and lunged at Gin. Gin, however, saw it coming and dodged right in time.
"Cut it out you two. " Rangiku intervened, blocking Grimmjow away from Gin.
"Then tell him to shut his trap!" Grimmjow barked. He wanted to get his hands on Gin, but he was hiding behind Rangiku like a child. Eventually, he gave up and walked away. He had a lot of other things in his mind to think about.
After Grimmjow left, Rangiku gave Gin a stern look and advised him to stop with his remarks.
"Aww come on Ran-chan, I was just trying to lighten up the mood."
Rangiku sighed, "I know, but you know Grimmjow is Mr. angry pants. Besides, the two of them actually make such a cute couple, like long lost lovers."
Gin's smirk suddenly grew wider than usual as he quietly muttered, "Yeah, if only they knew."
Grimmjow opened a garganta to Hueco Mundo, unfortunately he wasn't able to open it directly inside Las Noches, but just outside the front doors of the building. They quickly ran inside, trying to locate Nicara. For the most part, the building looked the same. It was a little more beat up, but the same white walls and endless hallways.
"Why can't I fuckin' sense any reiatsu?" Grimmjow growled angrily, punching a wall in the process.
"She's probably wearing one of those reiatsu sealer bracelets that Szayelaporro made."
"Then how do we know if they're even here? It's going to take a while to check every room." Rangiku commented.
"Nicara's here, I can feel it, and I'll tear down every wall if I have to. " Not wasting another second, Grimmjow sprinted off.
"Wait, Grimmjow. " Ichigo yelled, "we should all stick together!"
It was too late though, he was already nowhere to be seen.
"I'll go after him, " Gin offered. "You guys stick together. They nodded in agreement as they watched Gin take off after Grimmjow.
"They're here," Ulquiorra stated in his monotone voice.
"But we're wearing these bracelets that seal off our reiatsu, how will they find us?"
They were in one of the octave espada's experiment rooms and Nicara was currently strapped to one of the experiment tables. She wasn't scarred because if they really wanted to kill her they would've already done so.
The emotionless espada said he would lift the seal on her memories and she took his word for it. Some people would say she's naive and crazy for trusting the enemy, but she felt like she knew him. Something in her gut told her he was telling the truth and that he wouldn't hurt her. She could trust him.
There was a small creak from the door swiftly opening and reclining; someone had arrived. The man who walked in had white hair, a sly smile, and he was wearing a shinigami outfit.
He greeted her with a friendly voice. "Hey Nicara, how ya doing'? Long time no see."
Nicara looked at him in confusion. "How do you know me? This is the first time we've met."
"Oh that's right, we have to remove the seal first, silly me. Ulquiorra, let's get started before Grimmjow gets here."
Ulquiorra silently nodded.
"Grimmjow, where is he? Is he coming?"
"Yup he'll be here real soon. Just relax and close your eyes okay?"
She didn't answer, but did as he requested. They attached several wires on her, she could feel the volts of electricity flowing through her body. There was also a small pinch on both her arms, they must've stuck needles and injected something in her blood stream, for in the next few seconds her veins felt like they were on fire. It spread like wildfire.
At first it was only the veins in her arms, but them her whole body was burning. She screamed on the top of her lungs, her body thrashing around. Images flashed trough her mind. People, Shinigami's, arrancar's, places, everything was just a blur. Her head felt like it was going to explode.
In the distance, she would hear Gin and Ulquiorra's voices trying to calm her down, but the pain didn't stop. Finally, she felt something stab into her side and the fire slowly extinguished along with her vision. Everything turned black.
Gin had stabbed some pain killer serum into her bloodstream to calm her back down. Unfortunately the pain was too much for her to handle, as a result she passed out from all the pressure. Her entire body was covered in sweat, her lips pale.
"She doesn't look too good, do ya think she'll be okay, Ulquiorra?"
Tilting her chin up with one finger, Ulquiorra gave Nicara a quick inspection.
"She'll be fine, she'll be strong enough to fight through the pain now."
Gin nodded, agreeing with him. "When do ya think Grimmjow's gonna get here?"
"Any second now," Ulquiorra spoke as he felt Grimmjow's reiatsu approach closer and closer.
As if on cue, Grimmjow barged through the door and into the room. The first thing he noticed was Ulquiorra and Gin surrounding a unconscious Nicara strapped on a experiment table. Anger boiled through his veins.
"What the fuck did you do to her!?" he roared, lunging at the two.
Gin and Ulquiorra, not wanting a fight simply flashed away, letting Grimmjow surround her. Their job was done, neither of them had any intentions of hurting anyone.
Grimmjow wanted to tear those bastards to shreds, but they were no where to be seen. He'd have to kill them some other time because he needed to focus on the real reason he was there.
Hastily, he tore the straps that were tying Nicara against the table.
"Nicara," he called, shaking her limp body. "Nicara, wake up! Don't you dare die on me, woman."
Slowly her hands started to move. Her eyes were still closed but one hand reached up and lightly stroked the jaw bone on his face.
"Grimm...?" she muttered, her voice unsure.
"Yeah, its me." He sighed. Happy to see his woman was alright, he hugged her tight against his chest. Nicara seemed fine for the most part, but something about her reiatsu felt different, it felt much stronger than before. When he pulled away to look at her face, her eyes fluttered open to look right into him. Her eyes, however, were not the same chestnut brown eyes she had before, instead they were blood red. There was only one woman he knew with eyes like those. It can't be...it not possible... he thought.
Then he observed the dress she was wearing. It fit her perfectly and made Nicara look like her. Ciara?...No, that's impossible, She's been dead for years. There was only one way to find out for sure.
With unsteady hands, Grimmjow slowly brushed Nicara's hair away so he could see the lower back of her neck. And there it was, written in the same black ink as his arrancar tattoo, was a romanized number tattooed on the back of Nicara's lower neck. The number infinity.

Nicara's Number:
I originally wanted Nicara to be espada number zero, but then unfortunately Yami turned out to be it which was quite disappointing...and there were also a couple other stories that already used it, so I wanted to come up with a more unique number.
Anyone else out there taken calculus? Lol, that's actually how I thought of using the number infinity. It was when the teacher was teaching about limits. Technically Infinity is not a real number, it is a imaginary number like i (sqrt of -1), but I figured most people know the concept of infinity and I haven't seen another fan fiction use that yet.
Side notes on chapter:
Gin is alive in my story and as you can probably tell, I'm a Gin x Rangiku fan. I didn't understand why Tite Kubo killed him off, I feel like someone should of just healed him or something.
Side notes on ending:
Nicara's not necessarily an arrancar, but she was ranked as number infinity. It doesn't mean she's the most powerful either, lol I just wanted to come up with a special number! Nicara is also Grimmjow's past lover in Hueco Mundo, who at the time went by a different name and had a different look, which is why he didn't recognize her. Hopefully that clears up things a little bit, if not you can pm me. I'll try to answer your questions, but I don't want to spoil the sequel for you!
So that's the last chapter of Memories of Somebody, but the actual story isn't over yet. The rest of my story will continue in the sequel/pre-sequel which I plan on naming Key of Heart. Some of you might not have liked the ending, but I hope most of you will all continue reading on to the sequel/pre-sequel. Updates will be really slow because I have a very busy life outside of fan fiction, but I will to continue write as I love getting positive feedback from ideas I thought would be silly. The reason I decided to split the story, is because I feel like this story is dragging on, so I think it's nice to get a fresh start and then continue on where this story leaves off.
This is, and will always be my first fan fiction I've written, and I have to say I'm so glad it was successful. I remembered when I first published it, I was very wary about it. I wasn't sure if people would think it's stupid and put a lot of hate comments, because if they did I probably would've stopped posting chapters.
I've put in so many hours into this story, and glad to finally say it's complete (kinda). I never thought I would get this far as I remembered after I updated the first two chapters I didn't update for almost a year. But I got back on track and gained many followers after that.
