I just want to say that I am dyslexic and thank you for everyone for understanding, it means a lot.

Finally the last chapter and I hope everyone enjoys. It took me forever to come up with what I was going to write. I wrote several things and then erased them all.

July 16th 2056 – 37 yrs later

Mystic Falls, Virginia

The party was in full swing out back of Damon and Elena's home. Music filled the whole space as couples danced and mingled with each other. Everyone at the party had grown up with each other or was brought in by someone in the tight circle of friends that had grown from nine to well over fifty. The group had been growing with new members being born and members bringing outsiders in to join.

The last thirty-seven years had been by far the most memorable years of the seven friends lives. They don't know if it was the secret of what happened in Bulgaria that kept them close after all these years or the sheer fact that they enjoyed each other's company. Even their children had become good friends. The friends had decided a long time ago not to worry about how they came together, but to just enjoy the moments and to never let a moment pass by. This rule was unspoken, but they all lived by it.

Elena stood up from the table she was sitting at and she looked out at all of her family and friends that were gathered, and a smile appeared on her face. Elena was still beautiful, even thought she looked older now. She had a few gray strands in her hair, but it still almost looked the same. She reached over and grabbed her husband's hand, smiling down at him. Damon grinned back up at her, looking up into her dark brown eyes, that may have fade with time but they still reminded him of the girl he fall in love with all those years ago. The last thirty-seven years had been good to Damon. His once raven black hair was now a salt and pepper color, and his once ice blue eyes were dull now, but still held the mystery and mischief they once held in his youth. Damon looked good for being sixty-one year's old.

"Would you like me to get you something mom?" Lexi asked from where she was sitting with her little girl, Delphia sitting on her lap. Delphia is only five and looks more and more like her father each day, but with her grandfather Damon's eyes and hair color.

"Oh no dear," Elena said with a smile when she looked at her beautiful daughter, who is now thirty-eight years old. Lexi has grown into a beautiful, accomplished woman. She created and now runs her own branch of the family's company in California. Both Damon and Elena were beyond proud of her. "I was just looking at everyone and just thinking." She said while a sigh while looking over at her grandchildren who were all playing with each other.

"Mom!" Samuel whined as he came towards his mom. "I'm bored." He said while taking a seat beside his mother. Samuel is Lexi's oldest kid and Elena's oldest grandchild at twelve years old.

"Sam." Lexi warned as she looked over at her son, who favors his grandmother Elena's looks. He has the dark brown hair and eyes too.

"Mom!" Sam whined again and looked at his mother, while arching his eyebrows at her. The look very much reminded Elena of the many looks she had seen Damon give her.

"Leave your mom alone, Sam." Finn said while clasping his son on his shoulders and Sam looked up at his dad. Finn has grown up in a handsome guy, looking more like his mom than dad. The only thing he got from his father was his father's curly hair. Finn has his mom's hazel green eyes and dark brown hair too.

Lexi and Finn had gotten together during Lexi's freshman year of college, when they both shared an apartment in New York, while they both went to Columbia University. They then got married a year after Lexi graduated and Finn began to work at his family's company. Finn had made his father proud by going out to California with Lexi and starting up a new branch of the family's company.

"Sammy…why don't you go swim?" Elena offered with a smile.

"What about swimming?" Austin said while running up to them with a grin on his face and he was out of breath. Austin is Lexi and Finn's middle child at eight years old, and he's a good mixture of both his parents with his hazel green eyes and light brown hair that was curly, but he favors more towards the Mikaelson side.

"I was just telling your brother that he could go swimming if he was bored." Elena said with a smile before ruffling Austin hair.

"Sam's fine," Finn said while making Sam stand up so he could sit down. "Go play with your brother," He said while giving his son a look that said don't question me. "Take Del with you." Finn said while picking up Delphia who grinned at her father and placing a kiss her on her face before placing her on her feet and pushing her towards her older brothers.

Elena smiled as she watched both Austin and Sam take a hold of Delphai's hands as they walked towards the other kids. She looked down at her husband again and smiled at him and he squeezed her hand in return.

"Love you." Damon whispered to her and she smiled more. Their love for each other had only grown stronger over the years.

"Mom?" She could hear her daughter Isobel say as she came towards her. Isobel is Damon and Elena fourth child and she was very much their wild child. Isobel Mae, had been born September 6th 2024 and she had been named after Elena's mother. Isobel was beautiful, just like both of her older sister's, with her dark brown eyes that were very much like her mothers. Isobel also had her father's raven black hair and her mother's fair skin. Isobel was also a good mixture of both of her parents. Isobel has been her mother's child, with her love of drawing and painting too.

"Yeah, Iz?" Elena asked her daughter as she turned around to find her daughter coming towards her holding her youngest child, a little boy that is only two months old. Isobel had short hair that went to her chin. The little boy is a cutie with medium brown hair with blonde highlights running through out it and his eyes were still a dark blue.

"Can you hold, Kol for a second?" Isobel asked her mom while her husband Harry came towards them carrying their middle child, Veronica, who is covered in mud, with their oldest daughter Caroline following right behind them. Little Caroline is only six and she is the spitting image of her father with her black hair and dark brown eyes, while Veronica is three yeas old with ice blue eyes and golden blonde hair. Little Veronica resembled her grandmother Caroline, except for her blue eyes; those were where from her grandfather Damon. Both girls were also covered in mud. "It would seem the girls found a mud puddle." Isobel laughed when she looked over at her girls' who was grinning at her.

"Sure," Elena said with a smile. "Hand him over," She said while taking her grandson into her arms. "Where's Kay and Ror?" She asked her daughter.

"They're being good." Harry laughed as he passed his daughter over to his wife. Harry is Caroline and Tyler's youngest and only son. Caroline had picked Harry's name, naming him Harrison Kol Lockwood, after her father and Kol, which upset Tyler a little bit. Harry got all of his good looks from his father, with his dark brown hair and eyes, along with his tan skin. Isobel and Harry had been high school sweethearts and they even stayed together during their college years, even though they were 2 to 3 hours apart. They got married a few years after college. They now live in New York City, while Isobel runs her own gallery and Harry works as a public affairs consultant at a large company in downtown Manhattan.

"I'll watch him," Elena laughed while looking down at her little grandson and smiled down at the little boy. Both Isobel and Harry took their daughters' into the house.

"Here…let me see my grandkid." Damon said while taking the baby from Elena.

"I should probably do the toast." She said with a smile before leaning down and kissing Damon on the cheek before standing back up and reaching for her wine glass.

"Probably," He laughed. "Where's Luke anyway?" Luke is Damon and Elena's youngest kid. Lucas had always been Elena's baby; even now that he was thirty years old. Lucas is the youngest of Damon and Elena's children, and he had been born September 4th 2026. Lucas had been a surprise for both Elena and Damon, because they had not been expecting any more children after their daughter, Isobel. Elena had chosen to name Lucas after her cousin Jeremy, calling him Jeremy Lucas Salvatore. Lucas was the tallest of the children at six foot, with dark brown hair and eyes. He looked like the spitting image of his mother, getting more of his traits from the Gilbert side. Being the youngest, Lucas was spoiled, but he had made his parents happy by getting accepted to Julliard and performing at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and now getting to play at the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. His plan is to get picked to play at the London Symphony Orchestra and then the Vienna Philharmonic, but his big plan is to be able to play at the New York Philharmonic.

"Probably somewhere with Alex," She laughed. Damon moved his eyes over to his oldest son, Alex and smiled. Alex had been Elena and Damon's third child, born January 12th of 2022 and they had settled on the name Michael Alexander Salvatore, but Elena insisted on calling him, Alex. Alex had been named after his father and his uncle Stefan. Alex had came into the world screaming and with a bunch of dirty blonde hair sticking up everywhere on his little head.

Alex is the same height as his father and has the same physical build, but that's where it differed. Alex has dirty blonde hair that is getting darker over the years and he has dark blue eyes. Elena when she looked at their son Alex, it was like looking at her father all over again. Damon was very proud of his son. Alex had graduated from Georgetown University with a degree in Government and was now working with Tyler who was the mayor of their little town.

"Your probably right." Damon laughed while rocking Kol back and forth, trying to get the little baby not to cry.

"I'm going to go make my toast." She said with a smile before walking over to the DJ that was playing music for the party. "I need the microphone…going to do the toast now," Elena said with a smile as the DJ handed her a microphone. She tapped the microphone to get everyone's attention. The music died down and everyone turned around to face her. "Hi everyone," She said with a smile while talking into the microphone. "I wanted to give a toast and congratulate my son on his accomplishment," She said with a smile when she heard Lucas groan and then Alex laughing. "Luke," She said into the microphone. "Come forward." She could hear Lucas groaning more, but she watched as Alex pushed his younger brother towards the stage.

"Oh grow up," Alex said with a smile as he shoved his brother forward. "It only last a few minutes." Alex laughed as he reached over a placed an arm around his wife Charlotte's shoulders. Alex had married Charlotte Devereux, his college sweetheart after finding her four years after college. Charlotte is a beautiful slim girl, with medium brown hair and honey brown eyes, along with coca brown skin. Charlotte and Alex had a beautiful little girl a year into their marriage. Charlotte held their little girl, Elsa who is only six years old and looks more like a Gilbert with each passing day, with her dark brown hair and eyes.

"Alex!" Lucas growled at his brother before laughing when his wife, Ashley came to stand beside him and he took a hold of her hand. Ashley was over four months pregnant with their third child, a little girl that they were planning on naming Hannah. Ashley is pretty with reddish orange hair and green eyes.

"Luke," Elena said into the microphone. "Your father and I are very proud of you," she said with a smile. "Even though it scares me that you are moving all the way across the country-"

"You still have me." Alex said with a laugh as he cut his mom off.

"We'll be there to make sure he's okay," Lexi laughed as she kissed her husband on the cheek.

"And I am only in Seattle…not too far away." Stephanie said with a smile from where she was standing beside her husband, Colin Hallows. Stephanie is an inch shorter than her older sister and she has greenish blue eyes like her grandmother Isobel. Stephanie is a good mixture of both of her parents, just like Lexi, but her hair is a dark brown that almost could pass for black in certain lights. Stephanie had been born May 13th 2020, almost a year into her parents marriage. Elena had given Stephanie the middle name of Louise after Jenna who had passed away a couple of years ago, because they had already named her after Damon's mom.

Stephanie is the only one of Damon and Elena's kids that has a PhD. Stephanie got her PhD in marine biology and now she is a professor of marine biology at the University of Washington, after spending two years studying Great White Sharks. She met her husband Colin at a coffee place and it took her forever before she realized that Colin actually liked her. Colin Hallows is a few inches shorter than Damon, with light blonde hair and light brown eyes.

"I am very happy that your sisters' are not too far away…along with Liz," She said with a smile as she looked out into the crowd and spotted Elizabeth, Caroline and Tyler's oldest kid. Elizabeth is a good mixture of both her parents with her light brown eyes and golden blonde hair. She still looked young for being thirty-three. Elizabeth smiled up at her godmother as she held her little boy closer to her. The baby boy was Aaron Robert, or Rob for short. Rob is the youngest out of the two kids that Elizabeth and Cameron has, with green eyes and reddish brown hair, and he is also a good mixture of both his parents.

"We'll make sure he's well looked after." Elizabeth laughed. Her husband Cameron Mason was standing beside her. Cameron has reddish brown hair and brown eyes. Elizabeth and Cameron meet while Cameron came to the hospital that Elizabeth was working at has a clinical psychologist at a hospital in Los Angeles, to fix the hospital computers.

"It will be nice to have other women to talk to." Ashley said with a laugh.

"I want to congratulate you…and wish you luck in your adventure," Elena said to her son. "I am very proud of you…I'm just going to miss not having you so close." She said while crying.

"Oh mom," Lucas said while hugging his mom. "We'll come to visit as much as we can."

"You better." She laughed.

A couple of hours later –

Elena stood in her living room, looking up at the wall that she had decorated with pictures of her family and friends. She looked at the picture of her and Damon on their wedding day and then the picture of all of them after the battle in Bulgaria, then her eyes moved to look at the picture of all of her kids together when they were younger and it brought a smile to her face. She then looked at a picture of Lexi and Finn at their wedding and then one with them and their kids, before looking at the picture of Stephanie and Colin with their twins, Riley and Ryder. The twins both looked more like their mom with their dad's eyes. They have light brown eyes and dirty blonde hair. Riley is a cute little girl, while Elena knew that Ryder would become a handsome young man.

Elena moved her eyes to look at the picture of Alex and his wife on their wedding day, and then towards the picture of Isobel and Harry with their children, they were only missing Kol in the picture. Both Caroline and Veronica were grinning at the camera, while Kayleigh, their second to the oldest, was glaring at the camera. Kayleigh is a good mixture of both of her parents with her dark blue eyes and raven black hair. Harry was holding their youngest daughter, Aurora, who has dirty blonde hair with green eyes that looked so much like her grandma Caroline's.

Elena let her eyes move towards the picture of Lucas teaching his son, Jeremy Alaric how to play the piano while Ashley and their youngest Damon watched. Ric has light blue eyes with reddish brown hair and he is a good mixture of both his parents at the age of four in the picture. Little Damon is only a year old in the picture, and he is also a good mixture of both of his parents with his dark blue eyes and medium brown hair.

Elena got a glimpse of a picture of Caroline and Tyler on their wedding day and it brought a smile to her face, remembering that day and how happy Caroline was. After they got married, they had moved to D.C., where Caroline got a job as a clinical psychologist and Tyler started up his own company for architecture. Now Tyler lived in Mystic Falls and is the mayor.

Beside that picture was a picture of Elizabeth and Cameron with their children, Claire and Rob. Claire has crystal blue eyes and strawberry blonde hair and like her little brother, she was a good mixture of both of her parents.

Right beside the picture of Elizabeth and Cameron, was an old picture of Abigail and Aaron. Abigail is the middle child of Caroline and Tyler, and she like her sister was a good mixture of their parents. Abby has light brown hair and green eyes that she inherited from her mom. Aaron was the youngest child of Jeremy and Anna. Aaron is the spitting image of Jeremy with his dark brown hair and eyes. Aaron and Abby were high school sweethearts and married straight out of college, but Aaron got a job studying a culture in Papua New Guinea soon after they got married. So both Aaron and Abby moved to Papua New Guinea and lived there for four years before Abby became pregnant with their first child, Serenity. They moved back and had two more daughters, but their marriage has started to have a strain to it and Aaron has already taken time off of teaching at Duke to go back to Papua New Guinea and Abby is teaching at a high school in Lynchburg as an English teacher. The last thing Elena heard was that Aaron and Abby were going to get a divorce and Elena wondered if Aaron was like his parents who had already divorced years ago.

In the picture of Abby and Aaron, they had all three of their daughters. Little Serenity was smiling as she stood in front of her parents. Serenity has light brown hair and eyes. Aaron held Paisley their middle child, who looked just like her dad with dark brown hair and eyes. Abby held their youngest Trinity, who had light brown hair and green eyes.

Elena smiled at the picture of Rebekah and Matt on their wedding day. Rebekah had went on to become a corrections officer, while Matt a got a job as a trainer at the University of Richmond. They still lived in Richmond too.

She then looked over to the picture of Rebekah and Matt's oldest son Eli and his wife Jocelyn. Eli was the spitting image of his mother, with his light blue eyes and light brown hair and he works at a bank that is connected to his family's company. Jocelyn is a gorgeous woman with dark hair and dark brown eyes. They had both of their kids, Zachary and Jacob in the picture with them. Zach has light brown hair and light blue eyes, while Jake has dirty blonde hair and dark blue eyes.

Elena smiled as she looked over at the picture of Olivia, Rebekah and Matt's youngest kid and her husband James Wyatt. Olivia is a good mixture of both of her parents with her light brown eyes and dirty blonde hair. In the picture there is Olivia and her husband, along with their daughter Rebecca, who is the spitting image of her mother with her dirty blonde hair and light blue eyes. Olivia was doing field study over in the southern part of France as a sociologist.

She let her eyes travel over to the picture of Jeremy and Anna on their wedding day. It was still hard for her to believe that they had been divorced since 2033, but she was happy that they had finally realized they should be together and not apart. They began to have problems while Jeremy was still back in school and Anna was taking care of both of their boys. Anna hated being a stay at home mom, even though she loved her boys. Finally around 2030, Anna took a job in the Amazon that had her out of the country for a year filming the different cultures in the Amazon. Finally Jeremy understood that Anna was trying to live her dream, like she had let him and that she did miss the boys, but Jeremy couldn't live the way that they were living and they finally divorced. Jeremy got the boys and Anna kept taking jobs out of the country, filming different cultures. Jeremy moved back to Mystic Falls with the boys and took a job as a professor of music at the Lynchburg College.

The picture beside Anna and Jeremy's was of Andrew, Jeremy and Anna's oldest son who is a math teacher up at the high school in town. In the picture of Andrew, his wife and high school sweetheart, Mary Alice stood beside him. Andrew is a good mixture of both Jeremy and Anna, with his dark brown hair and eyes. Mary Alice has black hair and honey brown eyes. In the picture they are both holding their two sons, Grayson and James. Grayson was named after his great grandfather, who had passed away several years ago, along with Miranda and Alaric. Grayson is the spitting image of his father, with his dark brown hair and eyes, while his brother James has black hair and dark brown eyes and looks more like their mother.

Elena sighed and smiled a sad smile when she looked at a picture of her and Caroline at Disney World with Mickey ears on. She touched the picture and had to hold back the tears. Caroline had been gone for twenty-five years and it still felt like yesterday that it happened. Caroline had passed away in a horrible car accident at the age of thirty-six and not a day didn't go by that Elena didn't miss her.

"What are you doing?" Damon asked as he came into the living room to find his wife staring up at the wall that held all their pictures.

"Oh just reminiscing." She said while wiping at her eyes as she turned around to face her husband.

"Thinking about Caroline?" He asked while he wrapped his arms around her.

"Yeah," She sighed. "Its just hard sometimes when I look at that picture," She said while pointing to the picture of her and Caroline at Disney World. "And to think that a year later she was gone," She paused. "When I took that picture with her…I never thought she would be gone…I was just thinking about how stupid that hat looked on me." She said with a smile.

"We never know when our time is to come," He said sadly. "Think about Klaus." Klaus had passed away year ago from Hereditary Haemochromatosis at the age of fifty-nine.

"Yeah…I know," She said with a sigh. "That was surprising to all of us…even Rebekah and Elijah." Elijah's wife, Elizabeth had passed on four years ago from cancer. Elijah and Elizabeth had two kids, Hugo and Adele.

"It was," He said while holding her close. "But Caroline and even Klaus's passing taught us how short life is…and how important it is to cherish every moment." He said while kissing her forehead.

"We have had some good moments," She said with a smile as she looked up at him. "Very good moments." She said while leaning up to kiss him.

"Dance with me," He said while picking up a remote and turning on the stereo they had in the room. The song they danced to at their wedding began to play. She smiled up at him. "Dance with me." He repeated and she nodded. He began to spin her around and she laughed.

"Did you ever imagine this would be our life?" She asked. "That we would not only be parents of five beautiful, successful kids…but also grandparents?"

"No…but I hoped." He laughed before kissing her.

"We've done good." She said with a grin has he spun her around and she giggled.

"Your still as beautiful as you were the first time I saw you in this life and even in the first life," He whispered in her ear as he pulled her closer to him. "You still drive me crazy," He said while lightly kissing her neck. "I am glad you stumbled into me all those years ago." He laughed.

"I am too," She said with a huge smile on her face as she looked up into his blue eyes. "Even with all the bad…it's been a pretty good life." She said with a grin with he kissed her neck again and then moved to kissing her jaw and then her lips.

"I love you, Elena." He said whispered against her lips before kissing her soundly.

"I love you too." She said with a huge grin on her face before turning around and quickly making her way through the archway that led into the room. "Come and catch me." She said over her shoulder as she dashed towards the stairs as best as she could and she could hear him right behind her and she laughed more.

Throughout their life so far, they had the best times of their lives so far. They would not change anything, because they wouldn't have the life they do now. They love their children, along with their grandchildren. Damon kept working at his family's company and Elena worked for a short period of time at a museum as art conservator, before becoming a high school art teacher at the high school in their town and now she works has a substitute teacher when they need someone to fill in. Everything for them had been perfect, even with the passing of their friends and some of their friends and family members getting divorced. The love they shared for each other just kept getting stronger over these years and it would keep getting stronger, because they love each other with their whole hearts. Elena loves Damon like no other and Damon loves her the same. Their story was truly one of the great love stories, but only they and their friends would know that. They didn't care if anyone else knew, just that they got to spend the rest of their lives together.

To my readers and reviewers, it has been long road. A bumpy road, but I hope everyone enjoyed this story. I loved writing it and I loved hearing everyone's opinions. I hope this final chapter is what everyone hoped it would be. Please let me know what you think, no flames though.

I hope you enjoyed Damon and Elena's children. Also, what did you think of Lexi and Finn being married (I kind of always planned to put them together) or Jeremy and Anna being divorced. What did you think of Caroline's passing or even Klaus's (I had these planned from the start. Reason for letting Caroline become human. I know I am evil.)

I hope you enjoyed the children and the grandchildren. I had such a hard time of writing this and what I should write and tell you about their future, but I wasn't sure what to put and what to leave out. I know how their lives end and its a good ending, a good long life, but I was just not sure what to hide and what to show to you guys. I am hoping I did a good job.

You won't believe this, but this is my first time actually ending a story. I am very proud of myself for finally ending a story. I really do hope you guys enjoyed this story. Also I will be taking this story down in a week and I will be putting my own characters into and changing the story around, not much but a little and then I am going to try to get it published or maybe self-published. Let me know if you guys would like to read it with my characters.
