A/N: I do not own, or intend to make profit from the Tolkien series, Lord of the Rings or Hobbit. Neither book or movie. This is purely fanfiction, writing for only fun and practice.

I also wish to share that as I write this story, I'm doing research in history and language of Middle-Earth in Tolkien's work. I may revisit to correct certain bits, but other than that, I am aiming to stick to the books and a bit of the movies. I think, the actors are perfect for the existing movie characters, but that is me. Other characters will vary. I will focus on some more than others, but that is still open to your imagination.

Some of this may be roughly Tolkein-verse, so please be open-minded, I'm not Tolkien/Middle-Earth pro. If I get something wrong, please let me know and I can do my best to correct it.

Other than all that, please enjoy my addition to Tolkien's world of magic and adventure.

Prologue

As the tale goes, the maiar were spirits that descended into Arda to help the Valar shape the World, a task that would take life times. There were several, yet not many were named. Each one chose different forms from the mortal appearance to even that of animals. It varied from maiar to maiar, structured by their traits of talents and knowledge. Yet similar to the Valar, maiar do not range them in fixed form, but can freely change it. Each Maiar were associated with one or more particular Vala, though less powerful than their masters and teachers.

Before the tale of Erulin Elenriel, Spirit Daughter of the Stars, she was not heard of by many, even among the maiar. How her existence came to be is a mystery among many within Arda. For you see, maiar are not born of flesh, they are created from a formless entity by their creator, Eru. Descending into a chosen physical form to serve and learn under the tutelage of the Vala. Elenriel to all, or Erulin to her Guardian-Parents, was given this form, or rather born with it.

Unlike the maiar, she is an offspring to a higher power.

Where she was birthed, by whom or what, is a mystery to that even the Valar. The truth of her existence is permitted to few, whereas the rest will only know her as a mere maiar, vassal of Manwe and Varda, student of Ulmo, and beloved to all the Valar.

In this tale of adventure to discovering true purpose, the youngest maiar guided under the tutelage of Manwe and Varda, shows great promise in her gifts, expressing great interest in furthering her knowledge and experiences. We learn of her past, struggles of the present, and discover the future that is intertwined with the Firstborn.

Her destiny has long been written in the stars.

Growing within the castle of Manwë, she has lived sheltered and far from the rest of Valinor. She has made few friends among her kind, yet a deep yearning for a connected companionship and an adventure unlike any other grows ever stronger, making Erulin ever so lonely.

She has encountered few of the Firstborn within the castle on occasion, delighted by their loveliness and grace. Alas, much to her disappointment, they did not give her as much as a second glance unless for being a child, though somewhat curious. She surmised that since there were many maiar within Valinor, seeing her as she sees them wasn't to be expected.

The maiarling is often found amongst the books, her quest to discovering more and using her imagination to create. Her magic is powerful, more so than most maiar, yet still far from perfection. Her knowledge is growing, but her impatience hinders her at times. Her impatience formed an interesting temper, only brought forth a few times.

When taught by her masters, her strengths were brought to light through various trials, most none too easy.

In reflection of Varda's influence, she has grasped similar gifts to protect herself with the gift of light, a power to ward and heal. May she ever find herself lost or surrounded by darkness, the light of her spirit will guide and protect her and those she holds close to her heart. These are some lessons and words taught to her by the Queen herself. For later years, there was her tutelage under Ulmo. Through solitude, she has formed the fluid skill to flow as the waters and control to her whim. From the beginning with the queen, came her training with the powerful and respected Manwë, in which she soon discovered that she could will the wind to dance. To be both still with patience and roaring with crashing rage, she has better control over her ability, and understanding of the ties her emotions carry to her powers.

Though she is far from mastering these powers, Erulin Elenriel is a spirited being, rarely discouraged. During her solitude studies, she grew far more restless and wary, eventually tired of reading the same material and doing the same thing every day. She felt a lack of challenge and gradually wished to travel to see the world beyond the castle walls.

It was inevitable for the restless spirit to venture further into Valinor.

Thus began the scheming of the Vala for they knew for some time now that their Erulin was destined for something greater.
