Note: Finally, this is the end! For a story that I started on a whim and too ages and ages to update. :) It is always a satisfying feeling when finishing a story, but also a sad one. *sigh* Well, here we go.

The Forgotten Diary

Epilogue

Avery POV

I rolled over in bed, sticking my nose in a head of dark hair. The scent of lavender soap filled my nostrils. I sneezed. The figure beside me moaned in annoyance and snuggled closer. The hair retreated and the irritation in my nose halted. I smiled contented and wrapped my arms around the smaller frame.

"Netta, go back to your own bed," I whispered halfheartedly.

She burrowed her face into my chest. "Daddy's not home. I don't want Mommy to be lonely."

"I'm not lonely. Go back to bed," I insisted, although it was pretty half hearted.

"I don't believe you." She started snoring. I gave up trying to get her into her own room and listened to her breathing. I had my eyes closed when I heard a noise in the foyer. The front door shutting, the shuffling of feet on the carpeted floor, knocking into things because the person outside couldn't see a thing.

The door opened a crack and I saw a head carefully combed brown hair. He chuckled and entered the room completely. He set down his bag and removed his dress shoes and loosened his striped blue tie, all as quietly as he could so that Netta wouldn't wake up. Finally, he crawled under the covers and we sandwiched the little girl between us.

"How was work?" I whispered.

He stroked my blonde hair. "Busy. Karat was being a pain and all I wanted to do was go home." He sighed. "So the usual." He leaned over Netta and kissed me on the forehead. "I love you," he said.

I smiled. "I love you too."

"You two should stop talking and go to sleep," replied the voice from between us.

"Oh really?" I asked.

Her father whipped back the covers and started tickling her mercilessly. Her happy laugh resounded through our little home and summoned Stan. He jumped into the bed and started licking her face. I watched the three of them romp and fiddled with the garnet that hung around my neck. It was hard to believe I could possibly get any happier.

"Okay. That's enough you two," I scolded.

Stan huffed and hopped down. "That's fine. I'll just go and bark at invisible squirrels," he replied and trotted away. "Night, Netta. Night, Avery. Night, Karl."

Karl and Netta curled up together after returning the sentiment and giggled amongst themselves. I lay down myself and did my best to hug them both. "You wanna know a secret?" I whispered.

"What?" Netta whispered back.

I cupped my hand around her ear and said, "Mommy's pregnant."

She gasped and shot up. "Really?! Does that mean I'm gonna be a big sister? Is it a boy or a girl? What are you going to name it? Wha-"

Karl pulled her down and covered her mouth, shushing her. "Netta," he warned. Then he looked at me, grinning wildly. "Which would you prefer?" he asked, warning her to be quiet.

"I'm not sure," she answered, pondering the question seriously.

"Then do you want to help Mommy and Daddy pick out new names for the baby?"

She nodded, her eyelids growing heavy. We stroked her hair and waited for her to fall asleep.

"I love you," my husband whispered, giving me a chaste kiss.

"I return the sentiment completely."

Okay. Well that is the end of that. No more Forgotten Diary.

To my Followers/Favoriters/Reviewers: Thank you so much for your support and encouraging words. I doubt I would have continued this if it weren't for you. :D

So… I know that a lot of you stated that you'd like for me to write another Kavery story, alas, I don't really have any ideas for a new one right now. But, I am open to taking suggestions. :)
