You know what? Against all odds and beliefs I'm actually not dead nor have I abandoned this fic. I plan to finish this even if I die. It might take some time but seeing how many people actually like this (I'll never know why. I read my previous chapters and I cringed the whole time) I promise to honor thee who do not think that this is just a waste of time. I thank you all for reviewing, favoring and following! You have made me very happy during these years. Once again I AM SO SO SOOOOOOO SORRY!
As an apology of sorts I give you:
Chapter six
Last time:
More metal clashing and similar until a gun shot rang through the air. Everybody looked at the leader and Raphael. The latter boy was falling backwards. All fighters froze.
"D-did you k-kill him?" All stared at the leader. Before he could answer they heard the police sirens.
"D-dunno but let's get the hell out of here!" The gang left very quickly.
"W-we should 'cough' we should get out of here too before the cops arrive. R-right Leo?"
"Yes, Donatello. Take Michelangelo with you and go now. We'll meet at the park. I'll take care of Raphael."
Donnie grabbed Mikey's hand and they ran off. Leo picked Raph up and walked to the closest alley. Then he placed him down and checked his chest. There wasn't blood which was weird but then he found the reason his brother wasn't dying. A silver locket stopped the bullet from killing him.
Leo was dumbfounded. 'Just...what?' Then he let out a big sigh he didn't know he was holding and he relaxed for a minute.
"My younger brother is alive. Thank god if there even is one," he whispered particularly to no-one. Then he examined the locket a bit more. 'Where did he get this? He couldn't have bought it himself so someone must have given it to him but who and why?' he pondered while keeping an eye on the police. His eyes lit in realization. 'It was the girl! I must thank her for saving Raph. Or maybe not because explaining things would be too complicated. Still who would have guessed that her gift had saved her crush? How ironic.'
An ambulance arrived at the fight scene a minute later than the police. Leo snuck closer and 'borrowed' the first aid kit without anyone noticing him. He would send money to them later to compensate for it. But right now his brothers needed it. He cleaned and bandaged Raph's most serious wounds. Then he scooped him on his back and began to stroll towards the park.
At the park he found his other brothers behind a big tree. The little opening was well hidden behind the tree and bushes. Donnie looked up alarmed at the intruder before he recognized it was Leo and relaxed a little before looking behind Leo's shoulder. Mikey was weeping in his arms uncontrollably but quietly.
"He's fine. Just out cold. The bullet met an obstacle before it would have hit his flesh." Leo flashed a small smile while showing them the locket. Mikey looked up to see what had saved his bigger brother. He looked at Leo with his big puppy eyes full of tears.
"H-he'll be okay, r-right?" Leo put Raph down next to the tree and went closer to hug the youngest.
Donnie moved next to Raph to take a better look of him while Leo embraced Mikey.
"Yeah. He's gonna wake up as grumpy as always and get angry at you when you tease him again."
Donnie began cleaning Raph's wounds properly all the while listening to his two other brothers.
"W-why did he have to s-shoot him?" Mikey looked up at Leo.
"I really don't know but he's alive and going to be alright." Leo patted his head.
The nerd and closest they had for a doctor looked up from his finished work and moved closer to the hugging siblings. The oldest noticed this and pulled back from the hug.
"Now Donnie's going to take care of your injuries so be a brave boy and don't cry anymore, okay?" he asked smiling a little. Bright blue eyes peeked at him and after getting a nod from the youngest, the eldest gave way for the 'doctor'. Leo moved closer to the unconscious brother of theirs and checked his condition once more before leaning against the tree just beside his brother and closed his eyes for a moment. Before long the usual babbling could be heard coming from the hyperactive turtle while the doctor/nerd answered between his treating. How would he explain all this to their father, Leo didn't know nor have the energy to think at the moment.
Suddenly he jerked awake feeling someone's hands on him and he all but jumped on the person before hearing his voice. "Sorry for startling you, Leo, but I need to check and take care of your wounds too," Donnie said in a small voice while continuing with the treatment. Leo just nodded and closed his eyes again, though he opened them quickly for it was far too quiet. His searching gaze found its mark by spotting his two younger brothers both leaning against the same tree.
"How are they?" he whispered whilst gazing at his brilliant brother and immediately adding, "and how are you?"
"Mikey's gonna be right as rain as soon as he gets more sleep and pizza, I think, and knowing Raphie he won't stay down for too long either," he paused as his soft brown eyes locked with the deep ocean blue irises, "I'll be alright as long as you all are alive and well but how are you holding up?"
"Splinter's going to kill us all but specially me because I'm the oldest. Besides that I think I'm going to live," he grinned emitting a small laugh from the other. "Speaking of which, we better call him 'cause I'm pretty sure we aren't going to be able to carry these two home by ourselves."
Donny finished bandaging him up and moved to check the other two while Leo called their adoptive father. After a lot of reassuring and convincing, and a bit of instructing he ended the call and settled besides his brothers. "He said he'll be here in twenty minutes," he answered Don's questioning stare, "Get some rest until he gets here, I'll stand guard." Donnie opened his mouth to argue but thought better of it as Leo gave him the look. He only shifted closer and leaned his head against Leo's shoulder and began soon to doze off. Leo let his eyes assess the damage visible to the eye that he could find on his brothers. His attention shifted towards the blue sky once he was satisfied when nothing too drastic could be found.
He wasn't kidding when he told Donnie that their father was going to kill them. Maybe he exaggerated just a little. Still it must have been some kind of miracle that the man who adopted them had such patience with them getting into trouble every other week. That didn't save them from the scolding though. Leo could already hear the disapproving tone and the 'no training' order. At least all of it would be done only because the man loved and cared about them.
Speaking of the devil he could hear his father's frantic voice calling for them. Placing his second youngest' head against the tree trunk he stood slowly and walked towards the voice and called out in response.
Seeing his sons alive left Yoshi nothing if not relieved and he hurried and embraced the only standing one in a tight but not too tight hug. Noticing how they the other three were sleeping and the remaining one quite dead on his feet, he decided to leave the questioning to a later date.
"Let's get you all home, shall we," he said smiling softly at his eldest. The weary boy only nodded before helping him carry his sleeping brothers to the awaiting car near the park.
After all the waiting I hope that this wasn't too much of a disappointment. Tell me what you thought. Till next time! (sorry one more time)
