Please give a warm welcome to our our newest mod, Aqua Aluvia!

I just updated the Wanted List. Please let me know if I missed a fic or two.6/28/2013 #4 Report
Sorry, I know I'm not an admin and probably shouldn't post here but I had time to kill and wanted to help. I couldn't find any of the cases involving these plagiarizing authors in the wanted list: 1. Skylar Brooks 2. Scarlett embers 3. Saturn's heart 4. Justtypicalwriter 5. K.L Simpson 6. Mori.x 7. 3yo0oshy Cases that can be added to the "case closed" would be Kimi Chenergy and probably Connermae.6/28/2013 #6 Report
he is right saturn heart has either deleted his or the origanal writer deleted his6/28/2013 #7 Report
Guys, please don't post on this thread. I'll let your previous ones slide, but Horus will get mad if you post any further on this thread. Let's take it to chat room shall we?
3yo0oshy's case is closed.6/28/2013 . Edited 6/28/2013 #8 Report
Thank you, Mach.
Yes, the admin thread is for admin and mod discussion only. Should have made that clear. Will keep it locked for now.
In other news, just returned, will catch up on posts and messages in a bit.7/1/2013 #9 Report
Some announcements first:
- As most of you will have noticed, Luna is our newest TaPiR mod. Welcome to the staff, Luna!
- TaPiR will now also work closely with CCG in affiliation
- stop_plagiarism now has a TaPiR policy! If anyone is cross-reporting a plagiarism case to stop_plagiarism, they will now be asked to link to the TaPiR report as well. If you see anyone reporting the same case as a TaPiR case, is a good idea to comment with the link to TaPiR case too. Will help consolidate efforts.
Also, have a proposal about TaPiR process:
Am thinking of decommissioning the Wanted List thread. Instead of keeping list, thinking of using the C2 and the forum reports only to track plagiarism cases. Been observing the pricess, adding cases tp the Wanted Lists seems like extra hassle and redundant work for the mods.
Opinions? Mods only please post responses here. (may need to unlock and lock thread)
-H.A.7/2/2013 #10 Report
I agree about the wanted list. It's too much work. Keep the template though.7/2/2013 #11 Report
We are decomissioning the The Wanted List (Lista de buscados) and Case Closed - Archiving Success Stories and Resolved Plagiarism Reports (Caso cerrado) threads as it seems to be a redundant step in the process. It is much more efficient to keep track of the plagiarists using the C2, and the existence of the threads with our set title format is more than sufficient to function as a list.
As a result, extra care must be taken now to ensure all plagiarized stories are added to the Plagiarist Report Wanted List C2 Mods should also ensure all stories added to C2 have a corresponding case thread for evidence.
We should be more careful about the tags we use in the titles as well. Here is the list of standardized tags. Please do not deviate from them. If you feel that a tag is missing from the list, suggest the new tag in the thread and yours truly will edit the post.
List of mod tags that should be used in titles:
[Active] - Plagiarist has been active within 6 months of report.
[Inactive] - Plagiarist's last known activity was more than 6 months from the date of report
[Copyrighted] - Plagiarized content contains copyrighted content
[Hostile] - Plagiarist is defiant and may retaliate with flames or harrassment, proceed with caution
[NSFW] - Plagiarized story contains mature content not suitable for ages 18 or below
[Repeat] - Plagiarist is a Repeat Offender and has been caught more than once and still persistently plagiarizing
[ID Theft] - Plagiarist is also trying to steal the identity of another author
[DO NOT REPORT] - Negotiations are currently under way with plagiarist. Do not report or contact the plagiarist until the negotiator is done.
[Inconclusive] - There is suspicion, but not enough evidence to come to a conclusion. Suspect should be given benefit of the doubt for now unless new evidence surfaces.
[Case Closed] - Plagiarist has pulled the stolen stories
[False Report] - Report was false and no real plagiarism occured.
MOD DUTY ROSTER
In order to increase our efficiency with handling cases, am assigning specialized roles to each of the mods. Have attempted to assign roles that are most suitable for the respective mod. If any of the mods should feel they are more suitable for another role, please send a PM to Horus for discussion.
Primary Case Responder - HorusTheAvenger
The Responder checks all new detected plagiarism cases and ensures that there is a corresponding case thread on the TaPiR forum for it. If there isn't one, he/she creates it. If one has been created by a newcomer, he/she will verify that whether there is enough evidence or not, and adds the appropriate tags. He/she will also be responsible for checking other stories on plagiarist's profiles and adding the plagiarized story to the C2 if it has not been done already.
Primary Negotiator - Luna Goddess of The Night
The Negotiator's job is a delicate one, and involves contacting the plagiarist to attempt to find out why the plagiarism occurred. They main object is also to convince the plagiarist to take down the plagiarized fic before the TaPiR team resorts to stronger actions.
Communications Officer - Maid of Justice
Communication Officers are the mods who make contact with other people involved in reported plagiarism cases. Their roles include:
- Contacting the original author to inform them of the plagiarism
- Contacting the reviewers of the plagiarized story to let them know that the story has been plagiarized
Comm Officers should be courteous and diplomatic, and should always strive for peaceful solutions over naming and shaming.
C2 Manager - Mach68
The C2 Manager manages the C2 and ensures that all entires have a corresponding case thread.
Cold Case, Closed Case Specialist - Izraill
The C4 Specialist monitors old cases that have fallen off the front page for new developments and movement. If they locate an old case that seems to have activity, they bump the case thread back to the front page for attention. They are also in charge of closing cases if other mods have not closed the particular case yet.
Known Plagiarist Monitor - HorusTheAvenger
The Monitor keeps a list of known plagiarists on his/her author alert, and periodically checks any new stories posted by these current and former plagiarists for evidence of plagiarism. If a new case is detected, he/she updates the corresponding case thread so action can be taken.
Report Compiler - HorusTheAvenger
The Compiler makes a list of all stories in the C2 and emails them in an abuse report to the Admins every month.
Some members of the forum are multilingual and are able to provide additional assistance to a case which may not be in English.
Spanish - Izraill
Filipino-Maid of Justice
(Note to mods: if you are proficient in more than one language and wish to offer your services, list your name and language here)
Liaisons serve as main points of contact between TaPiR and other organizations, and are responsible for communication between the two groups.
Stop_plagiarism - HorusTheAvenger
CU - Izraill
Constructive Criticism Guild - ??
NOTE: All mods are still able to take cases, report and review plagiarism cases, and add to the C2. The roles are not exclusive and are only assigned ensure there is a clear area of responsibility to cover in case a step is missed.
As always, suggests and feedback welcome.7/6/2013 . Edited 7/11/2013 #12 Report
To All Mods:
At the present we have too many outstanding cases. Please focus on clearing those up first before looking for and posting up any new ones. If we have too many up at a time our focus is scattered and we are not effective.
Because there are so many cases we need to prioritize which cases we handle first.
Cases of clear cut plagiarism, especially those with people affected by the plagiarism, should be given attention to first.
Copyright violations without active complainants are low priority.
Cases with unclear plagiarism or inconclusive evidence should be low priority as well.
Resolving existing plagiarism cases should have always have higher priority over searching for new copyright violation/plagiarism cases to report.
-H.A.7/13/2013 #13 Report
Update on tagging.
We are added a new Tag and modifying the existing [Case Closed] tag.
[Troll] - For cases where the suspect is deliberately trolling for attention. Do not review, report only.
New [case closed] tags:
[Resolved: Account Deleted] - FFN admin has acted and deleted the account
[Resolved: Self Removed] - Suspect has pulled their story on their own
[Resolved: Made Compliant] - Suspect has made their story compliant by removing the plagiarized portions.
Also, now that a many of the existing cases have been resolved, we should be open for new cases again.7/14/2013 . Edited 7/15/2013 #14 Report
On assignment again. Fortunately not much travelling, but things will be a bit hectic. Will still check in to catch up from time to time but will not be able to be around as much. May be slow to respond to PMs. Apologies.

Might have to leave for another week, only to be online two days on average, depending on how demanding my studies are.

Since BP22 is gone from the surface of the site, we have a victor in 'The Plagiarist of the Period Award': Miss 'KiaraLivie0'!7/19/2013 . Edited 7/19/2013 #16 Report
Noted. Thanks for letting us know.
Yes, now if we can only get KiaraLivie into the admin's attention.7/19/2013 #17 Report
Updated the How To thread with the new changes, and also Tikatu's DMCA takedown email template.
Also, one last change. [Resolved: Self-Removed] is being simplified to [Resolved: Story Deleted]. Realized it was causing confusion otherwise. No need to change the old tags, but please apply to all new cases going forward.7/26/2013 #18 Report

I updated the scoreboard, and I have confessed an offense I committed prior to joining TAPIR. :-(
Re: Be afraid, plagiarists. Be very afraid.
I'm not even a plagiarist, and I'm beyond very afraid. T_T8/7/2013 . Edited 8/8/2013 #27 Report
I am retiring as scorekeeper as of August 18, 2013. This decision has nothing to do with Rogue's lead and more to do with real-life commitments. I will be graduating from college in December, and after that I will be either entering the workforce or attending graduate school. Therefore, I will not have enough time to maintain and report cases and update the scoreboard on a regular basis considering that I will not be as active on this site as I was before.
I am not retiring from TaPiR, nor am I discontinuing the scoreboard. I'm just stepping down as scorekeeper, so that position is now up for grabs. If you want to take my place as scorekeeper, please let me know. I trust your judgment and I will happily explain the rules to you.8/13/2013 . Edited 8/16/2013 #29 Report
Congratulations on graduating, Mach. You will be in for a turbulent time of your life, but also the most exciting. Good luck and welcome to working world.
Alas, it is overrated.
If no one wants to take up role of scoreboard keeper, we may have to discontinue it. Will move the deleted accounts list to a new thread.8/13/2013 #30 Report
