Hello there. Welcome to this weird and twisted world of mine! Come on in, pull up a chair, make yourself at home.
There’s not much you need to know, really. If Graf von Krolock is right (and you wouldn’t exactly want to argue with him), and “man muss werden, was man studiert,” then that would make me … a high-camp, drunken vampire Elf with a Death obsession. Yup, sounds about right!
I’m probably a lot older than you think. But my Inner Fangirl apparently reached the age of fifteen and decided to stop there for a while. So far I’ve had no luck persuading her to move on …
I’m addicted to Doritos. Sad but true. And vanilla cream frappuccino. And choccy buttons …
I eat books. Not literally, but almost. Absolute favourites include: Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings (I do the Christopher Lee thing and try to re-read it at least once a year), J K Rowling’s Harry Potter series, pretty much anything by Patricia McKillip, Markus Zusak’s The Book Thief, Julian May’s Saga of the Exiles, anything by Neil Gaiman (he scares me, but in a good way), Andrew Davidson’s The Gargoyle, David Sosnowski’s brilliant Vamped and Rapture, everything Diana Gabaldon ever wrote, Stephen Fry’s Making History, Mary Gentle’s A Hawk in Silver and Ash: A Secret History, and three extremely weird and beautiful books by Elizabeth Hand: Waking the Moon, Winterlong, and Aestival Tide.
I occasionally make Portrait-Horcruxes. Porcruxes? Anyway. There are a number of people out there who own one of my drawings and therefore have a little piece of my soul sitting in a frame on a shelf …
I can measure my life in musicals. Seriously. Especially this somewhat eccentric little collection: Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Lord of the Rings, Elisabeth (Vienna revival), Tanz der Vampire (Berlin/Vienna), Spring Awakening, Les Miserables, and The Producers (Vienna/Berlin). I should probably include Sunset Boulevard and Our House, too … and Cats, because it was the first one I ever saw … oh, and A Little Night Music, and Passion, and I think I have to stop there or you’ll be here all night!
And finally, I have a Muse who tends to pop up, in one guise or another, in most things I write. I try not to let him, but one way or another he always manages to get his own way. He’s completely insane, utterly adorable, makes me laugh, makes me cry, drives me crazy and inspires pretty much everything I do.
