A message to all those waiting on my Naruto fanfics:
I'm sorry to disappoint, but Naruto no longer holds any interest to me, so I am not continuing Tails of a Jinchuriki or The End of One Thing is the Beginning of Another. I'll have to go into the history of my interest in manga and anime to give an adequate explanation.
Around seven years ago (my freshman year of high school), I got into Naruto after a friend showed me some clips. That is not to say it was the first time watching it, but I had only watched a couple episodes of the dub on Toonami before. So I spent the entire summer catching up to the subs (a bit after where Naruto first meets Sasuke post-timeskip). I really liked it at that point, and was a huge NaruHina fan. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next, so I started reading the manga, and quickly caught up to that. I joined an online forum and mostly talked about NaruHina and predictions of the next chapters and stuff like that.
I then got into reading NaruHina fanfiction. It was the only thing I would read. I've probably read a total of around 1000 NaruHina fanfics (well, that might be over, but it can't be that far off) before all of the NaruHina fanfics started seeming the same. I started having a hard time remembering which fic had what happen. It all boiled down to how Naruto fell in love with Hinata, how they got together, how it dealt with Hanabi (cold or becoming a sweet little sister), Hinata's father (bad guy, or just forced by circumstance), who Hinata's mother was (dead or alive, Hyuuga or not), whether there was a council of elders in the Hyuuga clan that had any say in things, how it dealt with Kyuubi (evil Kyuubi, neutral Kyuubi, helpful Kyuubi)... the list could go on. Then there were the story types: Naruto gets exiled, Naruto is revealed to be Minato's son publicly, Naruto becomes the next Kyuubi, Naruto turns against Konoha for mistreating him, Naruto gets taken on as an apprentice, Naruto has a kekkei genkai, Hinata's a jinchuuriki too, Naruto gets adopted, the team are different (usually with Naruto and Hinata on the same team, maybe a different or extra sensei), how it dealt with Naruto's parents (if they were alive and or their feelings about each other), etc.
Another thing was the side pairings. Originally, I was only for SasuSaku, NejiTen, and ShikaTema/ChouIno or ShikaIno. I stopped caring much about the side pairings, as I really wasn't much interested in them, especially when they took the focus away from Naruto and Hinata, so I became able to read ones with slightly different pairings, and started not minding Sasuke bashing, Sakura basing, Kiba bashing (although that one was kind of ooc, as Kiba never really was in love with Hinata and he's not really a jerk), and other sorts. My not minding the Sasuke and Sakura bashing was helped by the fact that I started really disliking Sasuke at the time, as well as feeling that Sakura had ruined the entire story, but that's a rant for another time.
After a while, I was able to categorize almost every NaruHina fic I read, finding that the only differences between them were the permutations of the above things, so I got bored of straight NaruHina. Some time before I got tired of straight NaruHina, I started my first fic, Tails of a Jinchuriki, which was basically a "this is how it should be done" fic for Naruto and Hinata becoming hanyou, since I thought that all of the other ones had been badly done in how it happened, but I quickly realized that I had no plans for after they become hanyou, so I stopped writing it. Also, some time during that period, I started reading and watching Bleach (which will come up later when I talk about my second fic). Therefore, from that evolved my liking of NaruHarem fics. I still insisted that Hinata was part of the harem, if not the main girl, but the added romance with the other girls and added dynamics of character interaction between the girls made it enjoyable to read (other than the fact that I'm a pervert [e.g. a warm-blooded male]).
I also started reading a large number of other manga, working my way down the most popular list on OneManga (back when it hosted manga), and am still an avid manga reader with more than 250 manga on my mangaupdates reading list (not including dropped manga and finished manga, but including things that haven't been updated in a few years, so I'm hardly currently reading 250 series). I also started reading Naruto crossover fics after a while of reading other manga, but I only read NaruHarem fics (as no Naruto pairing with a girl from another manga, anime, or video game could interest me enough to read it), and if there was more than just Naruto from the Narutoverse, I always insisted on Hinata being in the harem. At some point, I stopped watching the Naruto anime, during the Sora filler arc, since it was boring and I didn't want to have to suffer through more filler (btw, when I originally watched the pre-timeskip filler, I didn't know it was filler, so I suffered through it all, although the arc with Hinata and the waterfall was good, although I forget the actual name of the arc... something Beetle arc). I think I also stopped watching Bleach at that time too, because I never really enjoyed Bleach as much as Naruto. I kept reading both the Naruto and Bleach manga while still reading tons of NaruHinaHarem fics and NaruHarem crossover fics. It was about that time that I started on my second fic, again, a sort of "this is how I think it should be done" for a Naruto/Bleach crossover, as I think the most important thing when making a crossover is to make the two worlds and the concepts they contain mesh together. I had a good number of plans for it, but I got rather busy with Junior year of high school (I believe, though my timeline might be off, so maybe Sophomore year). By the way, if anyone wants to know what I planned for it, go ahead and ask in a PM.
I continued reading Naruto and Bleach, along with continuing to read tons of other manga, especially harem/romance/comedy manga, and continuing to read NaruHinaHarem and crossover NaruHarem fanfics. As I continued reading Naruto and Bleach, along with other manga, I started liking Naruto and Bleach less and less. Hinata confessed to Naruto, but that was completely forgotten. My loathing of Sakura as a character grew and grew, along side thoughts "if only Hinata were the third member of Team 7", and my dislike of Kishimoto Masashi as an author grew, as he was clearly an Uchiha fanboy, with all of the overpowered-ness they have. He killed off Orochimaru, who was the best villain, he killed off Jiraiya, my favorite character (besides Hinata), Hinata still got barely any screentime, and all of the humor that used to be in Naruto had vanished. It was getting boring. New concepts popped out of nowhere that we should have seen in part 1, like sensors and barrier experts. He started throwing around kekkei genkai like they're nothing special. The samurai, which I thought would be badass, were all slaughtered by Sasuke in ten seconds flat. The last straw overall was Kabuchimaru (who is a pathetic replacement for Orochimaru) raising practically everyone who had died from the dead. All I thought was "Great. A zombie army. How original. Wait. How did he even know that Haku would be useful to resurrect? More importantly, how did he get all of the chakra to raise hundreds if not thousands of people, not to mention the sacrifices to do so?" It was way too overpowered and, imo, a stupid plot device.
Also, after reading so many manga with fantastic characters, I had become less and less enamored with the characters in Naruto, especially the girls, besides Hinata ofc. Kishimoto-sensei himself said that he was bad at drawing girls. That's an understatement. It seems like he decided that the only way to make a character attractive was to add big boobs. He actually did a good job with Hinata's post-timeskip character design, though. A lot of the characters were rather weakly portrayed as well, for instance Tenten, who has basically no personalty at all. Kishimoto-sensei actually admitted that she was just thrown together so that Team Gai would have a female member. After reading so many manga with really cute, well characterized girls, I stopped being interested in Narutoverse NaruHarem fics, as the girls (besides Hinata) were boring to me. I would still read some Naruto crossovers (still Harem, mind you), but I read fewer and fewer of those as well, until I stopped searching for new Naruto fics altogether.
Ah. I forgot to talk about why I stopped writing my second fic. I had originally planned on having there be two small harems, one NaruHinaHarem and one IchiHimeHarem (IchiHime being my favorite Bleach pairing). After reading so many NaruHarem crossovers where he went into another universe, but the main character from that universe was still there, and seeing as 99% of them sucked, I realized that you can't really have a harem fic with more than one male protagonist. It just doesn't work well. I had also lost a lot my interest in Naruto, and then my losing interest ing Bleach as well was the finishing blow for that story. After I stopped reading Naruto and Bleach, I continued reading manga, but wanted some anime to watch, so I started looking for anime adaptations of the manga I liked and became a rather avid anime watcher. Luckily, none of the anime that I had read the manga of were long-runners (over 26 episodes, save for Inuyasha, which was the first one I watched then, which was 167 episodes in length, but I think I actually watched that before I started reading a ton of manga. My memory is foggy on the details. Wait. Yeah. I still was reading and watching Naruto at the time, so it was probably after I started watching Bleach and I wanted a third series to watch. After that ended without getting to the actual ending, I started reading the manga to find out what happened next, which got me into reading manga besides Naruto and Bleach.) Along the way of finding anime adaptations of the manga I liked, I found a fansub site with a chat box and decided to chat about anime, and I liked the group of people and became a part of that "community", which I'm a member of to this day. At first they helped recommend some fantastic anime to me, and I gained a rather respectable taste in anime and a greater knowledge of Japanese and anime concepts through watching so many great and diverse anime. More recently, on top of watching many more anime than I used to (10 currently airing anime and watching good already aired anime I haven't watched when I have the time), I started reading light novels and playing a couple of virtual novels.
Anyway, back to talking about my writing. As you've read I have little to no interest in Naruto anymore, but my interest has moved elsewhere. I'm in my Sophomore year of college, and don't have a ton of time to devote to writing, not that I have any grand ideas about any fics. I was going to write a continuation of To-LOVE-ru, but then To-LOVE-ru Darkness started, and it's way better than what I could write. There's a number of series that I'm really interested in, but either it's so good that I don't think I can write an AU as good as it is already (or it doesn't need one), or even if I wish something else would have happened in the story, someone else has written an AU fic so good that I could never hope to write something anywhere near as good. Crossovers of the series I'm currently really interested in are out of the question as well, as the worlds just don't mesh well together. So. That's pretty much everything to this date. I explained why I don't like Naruto anymore and why I'm not really writing fanfiction anymore (at least until my muse comes out of hiding and replaces the fanfic idea lightbulb in my head). I have a good idea for a Naruto/StarWars crossover, and I might get around to writing it if the mood hits me, though no promises.
Tails of a Jinchuriki will not be put up for adoption. It wasn't going anywhere special, so I'm letting it die like it should. The End of One Thing is the Beginning of Another, however, I might consider letting someone adopt, but they would have to first discuss it with me.
