Just a cat looking to curl up with a good book, or at least a good story spun off from one given the nature of this site. I've got a Bookwyrm's horde-worth of ideas for pieces of stories of my own, but a rather unfortunately distinct lack of the knack to put said pieces together. Characters, scenes, scenarios, world building, backstory, plots and prompts, and just about everything else (though with a rather noticeable lack of dialog) needed for stories, but none of it in a sequential or linear format translatable to page. To borrow slightly from the Doctor: it's all a bunch of wibbly wobbly, birdy wordy stuff (and yes, that is a "Bird is the word" reference). For a limited example: say I try to introduce a character, well first I have to define the character, even if all the backstory isn't needed for the introduction it is necessary to have it for later reveals and development. But then in working out the backstory even more individual characters are created, and there are likely organizations, factions (both within said organizations and without/in society itself), countries, etc that also need to be noted as existing (and later fleshed out) for the way they shape the character. And that's just the one character, and all the time spent trying to write down all of that completely drives the initial plot/reason to introduce the character in the first place out of my head, or worse it completely changes it/flips things on their head such that any and all Previous work (on other characters or plot aspects or what have you) has now been rendered moot. Now add onto that my own ADD, and the fact that my "muse" (if I can even claim to have one) has its own flighty attention span such that the ideas blend genres, jump from source to source, cross over, and likely downright copy elements if not plagiarized unconsciously from the mix of half remembered read plots and imagined ones mixed with fanfiction variations and meta-fictions. So in daydreaming up a character or scenario for one idea I find myself applying aspect of other ideas to it or taking it to a different idea. So a character has some connection/encounter with an assassin's/mercenary group/organization, not necessarily a big part of the characters backstory but something sets me off and I'm lost on a tangent laying out the details of the organization, but then said organization doesn't fit the setting for the original character that sparked the idea for its creation and instead it fits better in This Other setting and these characters, but then this one of those characters actually could have a connection to that first character so there could be a crossover between these two settings, but if I combine them then I need to edit these ideas... And if That is confusing and hard to follow its only a fraction of what is swirling around in my head, and if you managed to follow along (as opposed to merely grasping the concept I was trying to portray: that my mind is chaos) then perhaps you could get enough out of my muse to write something, but you'd still have to cope with my own ADD and lack of patience to try and give access. After all writing takes up so much time, time that could instead be spent on reading other's stories. All that said (and if you bothered to get through all of that) I will gladly spit ball some ideas/give feedback to those who ask for it.
