The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.
Remember what is important to you.
If someone says: "That's impossible," you should understand it as, "According to my very limited experience, and narrow understanding of reality, that's very unlikely."
In fifteen minutes, everyone will be famous.
Sometimes, not being in control is the most beautiful thing in the world.
Let's make better mistakes tomorrow.
You are a victim of the rules you live by.
Motivation is what gets you started; habit is what keeps you going.
Fuck you, it's magic.
Make peace with your past so it won't mess with your future.
Prove you exist.
If you try to fail and succeed, then what have you done?
If at first you don't succeed, try again until you bleed.
In our pursuit to find the enemy we came face-to-face with ourselves.
There is no chance unless you take one.
Better to ask forgiveness than permission.
Life is like a ten speed bike, most of us have gears we never use.
If you want to fool the world, tell the truth
The day you realize you’re not as young as you used to be is the day you start dying.
Courage isn't the absence of fear, it is the presence of fear yet the will to continue.
A candle is never diminished by lighting another candle.
Anger being expressed by violence is nothing more than ignorance.
Speak your mind, but chose your words carefully.
The most dangerous lies are the lies you tell yourself.
He who waits to take the first step will spend his entire life on one foot.
Light a man a fire and he is warm for the night. Light a boy a fire and he burns down the house.
The ones that are hardest to love are usally the ones that need it the most.
The message below is a lie.
The message above is the truth.
Fear is temporary, regret is forever.
Young people know how to run fast, but old people know the way.
After one realizes he’s been a fool, he’s not a fool anymore.
Pain only means that you’re still alive.
You do not have to prove something for it to be true. However, you do have to prove something for others to believe it true.
Tough times never last, tough people do.
It's not the fall that kills you, it's the pavement.
A person who asks a question is a fool for 5 minutes, but a person who doesn't is a fool forever.
Win as if you were used to it; lose as if you enjoyed it for a change.
Adults are just kids with money.
In order to be someone, you must first be yourself.
Nothing improves the memory more than trying to forget.
Never look back unless you're planning to go that way.
Have the courage to live; anyone can die.
Don’t drown the man who taught you to swim.
Failure is only a temporary change in direction to set you straight for your next success.
Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.
If there exists no possibility of failure, then victory is meaningless.
The only real failure in life is the failure to try.
Life’s real failure is when you do not realize how close you were to success when you gave up.
Success builds character; failure reveals it.
Failure is the tuition you pay for success.
Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up.
A man may fall many times, but he won’t be a failure until he says that someone pushed him.
Notice the difference between what happens when a man says to himself, "I have failed three times," and what happens when he says, "I am a failure."
Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.
Being strong sometimes means being able to let go.
True goodbyes are the ones never said or explained.
The song has ended, but the melody lingers on.
The world is round and the place which may seem like the end, may also be the beginning.
There is a time for departure even when there is no certain place to go.
A best friend can tell you things you don’t want to tell yourself.
The best mirror in the world is an old friend.
Sometimes the person you really need is the one you didn’t think you wanted.
Never be sad for what is over, just be glad that it was once yours.
Fate leads the willing, and drags along the reluctant.
Everything comes gradually at its appointed hour.
A true adventurer goes forth aimless and uncalculating to meet and greet unknown fate.
Destiny has two ways of crushing us: by refusing our wishes and by fulfilling them.
Find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.
There is no chance, no destiny, no fate, that can hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul.
Nothing perfect lasts forever, except in our memories.
The future depends on what we do in the present.
I have enjoyed life a lot more by saying "yes" than by saying "no."
If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, you’ll never enjoy the sunshine.
People can live one hundred years without really living a minute.
No matter what you do, there will always be critics.
The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want.
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Give every opportunity a chance, leave no room for regrets.
May the dreams of your past be the reality of your future.
We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future.
One must always maintain one’s connection to the past and yet ceaselessly pull away from it.
Right actions in the future are the best apologies for bad actions in the past.
If we open a quarrel between the past and the present, we shall find that we have lost the future.
Always choose the future over the past.
The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.
If it’s good, it’s wonderful.
If it’s bad, it’s experience.
We are responsible for what we do... Unless, of course, we are celebrities.
The grass may be greener on the other side but at least you don’t have to mow it.
Most good judgement comes from experience.
Most experience comes from bad judgement.
There is no difference between a wise man and a fool when they fall in love.
Only the wisest and the stupidest of men never change.
Don’t let your victories go to your head, or your failures go to your heart.
Those who criticize our generation forget who raised it.
The only time you run out of chances is when you stop taking them.
Never challenge an old man. Because if you lose, you’ve lost to an old man, and if you win, so what?
If all else fails, try reading the instructions.
We may not make good decisions, but hell, we make good stories.
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
It happens to everyone as they grow up. You find out who you are and what you want, and then you realize that people you've known forever don't see things the way you do. So you keep the wonderful memories, but find yourself moving on.
Most people don't grow up. Most people age. They find parking spaces, honor their credit cards, get married, have children, and call that maturity. What that is, is aging.
I have decided that maybe I want to write when I grow up. I just don't know what I would write.
When we were children, we used to think that when we were grown-up we would no longer be vulnerable. But to grow up is to accept vulnerability... To be alive is to be vulnerable.
All children, except one, grow up.
It's the children the world almost breaks who grow up to save it.
You need not be sorry for her. She was one of the kind that likes to grow up. In the end she grew up of her own free will a day quicker than the other girls.
Because children grow up, we think a child's purpose is to grow up. But a child's purpose is to be a child.
Growing up is loosing some illusions in order to acquire others.
The thing is, that world doesn't exist. All growing up means is that your realize no one will come along to fix things. No one will come along to save you.
When we grow up, we lose the talent for loving without restrictions.
Tell the story that's been growing in your heart, the characters you can't keep out of your head, the tale story that speaks to you, that pops into your head during your daily commute, that wakes you up in the morning.
Books can also provoke emotions. And emotions sometimes are even more troublesome than ideas. Emotions have led people to do all sorts of things they later regret—like, oh, throwing a book at someone else.
Love is fire. But whether it will warm your heart or burn your house down, you can never tell.
Just because you're smart does not mean that the other guy is stupid.
I think all of us are always five years old in the presence and absence of our parents.
Fairy tales had been her first experience of the magical universe, and more than once she had wondered why people ended up distancing themselves from that world, knowing the immense joy that childhood had brought to their lives.
Everything is ceremony in the wild garden of childhood.
Growing apart doesn't change the fact that for a long time we grew side by side; our roots will always be tangled. I'm glad for that.
If only she could be so oblivious again, to feel such love without knowing it, mistaking it for laughter.
For in every adult there dwells the child that was, and in every child there lies the adult that will be.
Childhood is not from birth to a certain age and at a certain age the child is grown, and puts away childish things. Childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies.
Grown ups are complicated creatures, full of quirks and secrets.
Fear isn't so difficult to understand. After all, weren't we all frightened as children? Nothing has changed since Little Red Riding Hood faced the big bad wolf. What frightens us today is exactly the same sort of thing that frightened us yesterday. It's just a different wolf. This fright complex is rooted in every individual.
At one magical instant in your early childhood, the page of a book—that string of confused, alien ciphers—shivered into meaning. Words spoke to you, gave up their secrets; at that moment, whole universes opened. You became, irrevocably, a reader.
There are perhaps no days of our childhood we lived so fully as those we believe we left without having lived them, those we spent with a favorite book.
How hurtful it can be to deny one's true self and live a life of lies just to appease others.
As long as the world is turning and spinning, we're gonna be dizzy and we're gonna make mistakes.
Hiding how you really feel and trying to make everyone happy doesn't make you nice, it just makes you a liar.
There will be a few times in your life when all your instincts will tell you to do something, something that defies logic, upsets your plans, and may seem crazy to others. When that happens, you do it. Listen to your instincts and ignore everything else. Ignore logic, ignore the odds, ignore the complications, and just go for it.
Older men declare war. But it is youth that must fight and die.
The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently.
Young people don't always do what they're told, but if they can pull it off and do something wonderful, sometimes they escape punishment.
Anybody can look at a pretty girl and see a pretty girl. An artist can look at a pretty girl and see the old woman she will become. A better artist can look at an old woman and see the pretty girl that she used to be. But a great artist-a master-and that is what Auguste Rodin was-can look at an old woman, protray her exactly as she is...and force the viewer to see the pretty girl she used to be...and more than that, he can make anyone with the sensitivity of an armadillo, or even you, see that this lovely young girl is still alive, not old and ugly at all, but simply prisoned inside her ruined body. He can make you feel the quiet, endless tragedy that there was never a girl born who ever grew older than eighteen in her heart...no matter what the merciless hours have done to her. Look at her, Ben. Growing old doesn't matter to you and me, we were never meant to be admired—but it does to them.
Stories you read when you're the right age never quite leave you. You may forget who wrote them or what the story was called. Sometimes you'll forget precisely what happened, but if a story touches you it will stay with you, haunting the places in your mind that you rarely ever visit.
I've learned one thing, and that's to quit worrying about stupid things. You have four years to be irresponsible here, relax. Work is for people with jobs. You'll never remember class time, but you'll remember the time you wasted hanging out with your friends. So stay out late. Go out with your friends on a Tuesday when you have a paper due on Wednesday. Spend money you don't have. Drink 'til sunrise. The work never ends, but college does.
There is a certain part of all of us that lives outside of time. Perhaps we become aware of our age only at exceptional moments and most of the time we are ageless.
Our lives were just beginning, our favorite moment was right now, our favorite songs were unwritten.
The secret of remaining young is never to have an emotion that is unbecoming.
Some are young people who don't know who they are, what they can be or even want to be. They are afraid, but they don't know of what. They are angry, but they don't know at whom. They are rejected and they don't know why. All they want is to be somebody.
There is nothing so pitiful as a young cynic because he has gone from knowing nothing to believing nothing.
This is what I've learned in my life: Headbanging is crucial. Growing up is hard to do. There's nothing wrong with wearing a dress.
Make a pact with yourself today to not be defined by your past. Sometimes the greatest thing to come out of all your hard work isn't what you get for it, but what you become for it.
This is an important lesson to remember when you're having a bad day, a bad month, or a shitty year. Things will change: you won't feel this way forever. And anyway, sometimes the hardest lessons to learn are the ones your soul needs most. I believe you can't feel real joy unless you've felt heartache. You can't have a sense of victory unless you know what it means to fail. You can't know what it's like to feel holy until you know what it's like to feel really fucking evil. And you can't be birthed again until you've died.
Fear's useless. Either something bad happens or it doesn't. If it doesn't, you've wasted time being afraid, and if it does, you've wasted time that you could have spent sharpening your weapons.
Curiosity is the lust of the mind.
No matter how much suffering you went through, you never wanted to let go of those memories.
Your fear is 100% dependent on you for its survival.
Real love still happens sometimes. It's not just something we make up when you're nine. I have to believe that. You do, too.
Courage: the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.
No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.
When I was a little girl I used to read fairy tales. In fairy tales you meet Prince Charming and he's everything you ever wanted. In fairy tales the bad guy is very easy to spot. The bad guy is always wearing a black cape so you always know who he is. Then you grow up and you realize that Prince Charming is not as easy to find as you thought. You realize the bad guy is not wearing a black cape and he's not easy to spot; he's really funny, and he makes you laugh, and he has perfect hair.
This is how it works:
You're young until you're not
You love until you don't
You try until you can't
You laugh until you cry
You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath.
I still don't belong to anyone — I am mine.
I think sometimes it takes a little bit of being crazy to make a difference in this world, and that's what you do.
You don't look a day over fabulous.
Sometimes it's okay to admit you can't do everything
We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.
Creativity takes courage.
You can never solve a problem on the level on which it was created.
The chief enemy of creativity is good sense.
Life beats down and crushes the soul, and art reminds you that you have one.
The inner fire is the most important thing mankind possesses.
Gaze into the fire, into the clouds, and as soon as the inner voices begin to speak... surrender to them. Don't ask first whether it's permitted, or would please your teachers or father or some god. You will ruin yourself if you do that.
You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.
A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.
There is creative reading as well as creative writing.
To be an artist means never to avert one's eyes.
All profound distraction opens certain doors. You have to allow yourself to be distracted when you are unable to concentrate.
It's only words... unless they're true.
Be yourself and I promise people will enjoy it. If they don't... Forget them, they probably like Miley Cyrus.
I'm at that place I grew up to leave.
Don't fall in love with a shadow unless you know the sun will never set.
Home is not where you live, but where they understand you.
You forget all of it anyway. First, you forget everything you learned—the dates of the Hay-Herran Treaty and Pythagorean Theorem. You especially forget everything you didn't really learn, but just memorized the night before. You forget the names of all but one or two of your teachers, and eventually you'll forget those, too. You forget your junior class schedule and where you used to sit and your best friend's home phone number and the lyrics to that song you must have played a million times. For me, it was something by Simon & Garfunkel. Who knows what it will be for you? And eventually, but slowly, oh so slowly, you forget your humiliations—even the ones that seemed indelible just fade away. You forget who was cool and who was not, who was pretty, smart, athletic, and not. Who went to a good college. Who threw the best parties. Who could get you pot. You forget all of them. Even the ones you said you loved, and even the ones you actually did. They're the last to go. And then once you've forgotten enough, you love someone else.
A child's voice, however honest and true, is meaningless to those who've forgotten how to listen.
What we found was that girls are strong, determined and confident until they hit adolescence, then, things start to change, and they lose some of that confidence.
Being loved makes teenagers feel secure and safe in an unsafe world.
She's just an average teenager. She was an honor roll student but lately she's been in the boy world and her grades started dropping. Just stuff girls do.
Teenagers make mistakes.
Don't think. Don't fucking think. Because when you think you realize just how fucked up everything really is. You realise you don't know how you got where you are, you don't know where you're going, and you don't know what to do anymore.
I'm more afraid of growing up than anything else.
I remember when getting high meant swinging at the playgrounds. The worst thing you could catch from a girl was cooties. Race issues were who could run the fastest. The only thing you smoked was the tires on your bike. Life was so simple and carefree, but the thing I remember the most was wanting to grow up.
To let go isn't to forget, not to think about, or ignore. It doesn't have any feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret. letting go isn't winning or losing. It's not about pride. It's not about obsessing to dwelling on the past. It isn't about loss and it's not defeat. To let go is to cherish memories, but to overcome them and move on. Letting go is accepting. Letting go is having the courage to accept change. Letting go is growing up.
There's a point in your life when you get tired of chasing everyone and trying to fix everything. But it's not growing up... It's realizing that you don't need certain people, the bullshit and the drama they bring.
So I walked down those halls memorizing everything — the gym, the classrooms, my friends' desks, and the memories of a year that went all too quickly. Here I was, leaving for the last time. No coming back on Monday for homeroom — no more thanking the Lord that it was finally Friday. No more sleepy classes, no more gym periods. No more falling over giggling with my friends about a stupid prank. No more seeing him between classes... I would miss this place.
I wish I was a kid again. Having such an innocent mind, not knowing what ugly there is out in the world... Thinking everybody is beautiful, and not caring about gender, race, or sexuality... How come when we grow up, we turn into such mean, judgmental people?
Live your life like you're still five, because five was the best age to be. Boys still had cooties, and you already knew how to ride your bike, so that meant no falling, and if you did fall, you had a helmet because you listened.
The best thing about a picture is that it never changes, even when the people in it do.
You give up on everything because you cannot commit to anything.
There's this girl in the mirror, I wonder who she is. Sometimes I think I know her and sometimes I wish I did. There is a story in her eyes, lullabies, and goodbye. When she's looking back at me I can tell... she's hurting inside.
Never underestimate the pain of a person because the truth is everyone is struggling. It's just some people hide it better than others.
There's nothing scarier than getting what you want, because that's when you really have something to lose.
Somewhere, someone is looking for exactly what you have to offer.
There's gonna be some things in life that are going to make it hard for you to smile, but through all you see, all the rain and all the pain, you have to keep your sense of humor and keep on smiling.
Don't give up on your lost causes, you never know when your luck will change.
Just be yourself. It doesn't matter if it's good enough for someone else.
Follow your heart, because if you always trust your mind, you'll always act on logic, and logic doesn't always lead to happiness.
Everything happens for a reason. Nothing happens by chance or by means of good luck. Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul. Without these small tests...whatever they may be...life would be more like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere. It would be safe and comfortable but dull and pointless.
Never cut what you can untie.
Never let your head hang down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way. And don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines.
Sometimes we let affection go unspoken,
Sometimes we let our love go unexpressed,
Sometimes we can't find words to tell our feelings,
Especially towards those we love the best.
Those who love deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young.
Sad thing is, you can still love someone and be wrong for them.
People change and forget to tell each other.
I think the only reason everyone holds on to memories so tightly is because memories are the only things that don't change when everything and everyone else does.
And the stars just sit there and glimmer like they don't notice how we're dying inside, and the rain still pours and mocks us in our death, and the world goes on when all the hearts are broken.
Every scar you have tells a story, the times you fell off your bike, the time you scraped your arm while climbing that tree or the time... he broke your heart.
I guess everyone has their reasons for keeping people away, an instinct to protect yourself from getting hurt. It's part of human nature.
Joey: "People change, Dawson."
Dawson: "They don't have to."
Joey: "Yes, they do. People die, and they move away... and they grow up. Everything changes eventually."
Don't let yourself get so angry that you stop loving, because one day you will wake up from that anger and the person you love won't be around anymore.
There are certain people who are not meant to fit in your life, no matter how much you want them to.
Dreams aren't perfect. They come true, not free.
Maybe some friendships aren't meant to be saved. Maybe we're meant to spend a certain part of our life with certain people... And then move on.
Don’t risk anything you aren’t willing to lose.
Most people don't know who they are, that's why they lie. They're afraid someone else will figure it out before they do.
Too many people grow up. That's the real trouble with the world, too many people grow up. They forget. They don't remember what it's like to be 12 years old. They patronize, they treat children as inferiors. Well I won't do that.
When you are old and gray and full of sleep, and nodding by the fire, take down this book and slowly read, and dream of the soft look your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep.
Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him, now you have a motivated idiot.
I guess it's typical to cling to memories you can't get back again and to sort through old photos of a summer long ago of a friend you used to know.
Adolescents are not monsters. They are just people trying to learn how to make it among the adults in the world, who are probably not so sure themselves.
At fourteen you don't need sickness or death for tragedy.
Don't laugh at a youth for his affectations; he is only trying on one face after another to find a face of his own.
My adolescence progressed normally: enough misery to keep the death wish my usual state, an occasional high to keep me from actually taking the gas-pipe.
It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not.
As long as we have memories, yesterday remains. As long as we have love, today is beautiful. As long as we have hope, tomorrow awaits
Lord knows dreams are hard to follow. But don't let anyone tear them away.
You have made people listen. You have made people care, and you have taught us that whether we are poor or prosperous, we have only one world to share. You have taught young people that they do have the power to change the world.
You can't keep throwing fire at fire, you just have to let it burn out.
I don't like studying. I hate studying. I like to learn. Learning is beautiful.
Do not change for anyone, you must trust yourself more than someone else.
Sometimes growing up means growing apart.
Dreams don't have to stay dreams forever.
I don't believe in failure. It's not failure if you enjoyed the process.
Everything in life was a combination of coincidence, fate, and destiny.
Bad people ask you to change yourself for themselves, good people ask you to change yourself for yourself, great people never ask you to change for anybody else.
The greatest thing in life is finding someone who knows all your mistakes and differences and still finds you absolutely amazing.
Boy: "Crying means you're weak."
Girl: "No, crying means you care."
Until you gain the courage to lose sight of the shore, you will not know the terror of being lost at sea.
Don’t look where you fall, but where you slipped.
I hope you feel better about yourself. I hope you feel alive. I hope that good things happen to you, and I hope that when the inevitable bad things happen you can handle them and learn a lesson and move on. I hope you know you're not alone and I hope you spend plenty of time with your family and/or friends and I hope you write more and get a seven-figure book deal. I hope next year no more celebrities die and I hope you get an iPhone, if you want one. Or maybe a pony. I hope someone writes a song for you on Valentines Day that's a bit like Hey There Delilah, and I hope they have a good singing voice, or at least one better than mine. I hope that you accept yourself the way you are, and figure out that losing 20 pounds isn't going to magically make you love yourself. I hope you read a lot. I hope you don't have to almost die to figure out how valuable life is. I hope you find the perfect nail polish/digital camera/home/life partner. I hope you stop being jealous of others. I hope you feel good, about yourself and the people around you and the world. I hope you eat heaps of salt and vinegar chips because they're the best kind. I hope you accomplish all your hopes & dreams & aspirations and are blissfully happy & get married to Edward Cullen/George Clooney/Megan Fox/Angelina Jolie (delete whichever are inappropriate) & ride a pretty white horse into the sunset & I hope it's all sweet and wonderful because you deserve it because you did well this year in the face of sparkly vampires/great evil/low self-esteem.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm not sure who the first person was who said that. Probably Shakespeare. Or maybe Sting. But at the moment, it's the sentence that best explains my tragic flaw, my inability to change. I don't think I'm alone in this. The more I get to know other people, the more I realize it's kind of everyone's flaw. Staying exactly the same for as long as possible, standing perfectly still... It feels safer somehow. And if you are suffering, at least the pain is familiar. Because if you took that leap of faith, went outside the box, did something unexpected... Who knows what other pain might be out there, waiting for you. Chances are it could be even worse. So you maintain the status quo. Choose the road already traveled and it doesn't seem that bad. Not as far as flaws go. You're not a drug addict. You're not killing anyone... Except maybe yourself a little. When we finally do change, I don't think it happens like an earthquake or an explosion, where all of a sudden we're like this different person. I think it's smaller than that. The kind of thing most people wouldn't even notice unless they looked at us really close. Which, thank God, they never do. But you notice it. Inside you that change feels like a world of difference. And you hope this is it. This is the person you get to be forever... that you'll never have to change again.
I am neither especially clever nor especially gifted. I am only very, very curious.
It's not brave if you're not scared.
To change, and to change for the better, are two different things.
It does not hit you until later; the fact that you were essentially dead does not register until you begin to come alive.
Communication. It's the first thing we really learn in life. Funny thing is, once we grow up, learn our words, and really start talking, the harder it becomes to know what to say or how to ask for what we really need.
Sometimes questions are more powerful than answers.
Sometimes the thing that you are looking for is the one thing that you can't have.
I'm not sure if you've noticed, but the people who are the worst at taking care of themselves are the ones the world actually needs the most.
Sometimes the things you complain most about are the things you care most about. Unfortunately you don't always know that before it's too late.
You spend so much time wondering who you are, don't you think? You flounder about, searching for your identity, when most of the time it is as plain as the nose on your face. You struggle with questions of purpose and need, and forget that the answers are found mostly inside yourselves.
After careful consideration and many sleepless nights, here's what I've decided. There's no such thing as a grown-up. We move on, we move out, we move away from our families and form our own. But the basic insecurities, the basic fears and all those old wounds just grow up with us. And just when we think life and circumstances have forced us truly to become an adult, your mother says something like that. Or worse, something like that. We get bigger, we get taller, we get older. But, for the most part, we're still a bunch of kids, running around the playground, trying desperately to fit in.
I realize I'm in one of those stages where I'm mad at the world, I'm like daring the world to push me off a cliff... just to see if I can fly.
I don't know what I want in life. I don't know what I want right now. All I know is that I'm hurting so much inside that it's eating me, and one day, there won't be any of me left. Everything that ever caused a tear to trickle down my cheeks, I run away and hide from it. But now, everything is unwinding and finding its way back towards me. And I don't know what to do. I just know that the pain I felt so long ago, it's hurting ten times more.
Sometimes things just don't make sense and all of a sudden I get scared.
I can't take it anymore. Everyone thinks I'm indestructible; the girl who never flinches; the girl who always has a smile on her face; the girl that's gone through so much yet doesn't have one scar—and I'm tired of it! I don't want to live behind a wall of laughter and smiles anymore. I want people to understand me. I want people to understand how hard it is to be me and to have to deal with all this crap and still be expected to be happy. It's not fair. Why is it that everyone else can just fall apart but I have to be the one to keep it together?
God only gives us stuff he knows we can handle, I just wish he didn't trust me so much.
See, with girls, there are two kinds of guys. The first kind of guy is the kind of guy that you don't stare at or give any thought to. You don't dream about him, or use him as the basis for all your wishes. But if he ever did ask you out, you know that you could learn to love him. You could grow to love him with time. The second kind of guy is that guy you're always aching for, the one you're always thinking about. He's the kind of guy that makes your knees go weak and leaves you breathless and knocks you off your feet. The kind you stare at and scribble his name and yours all over your notebook.
You may not remember the tests you've failed, but I'll bet you remember the person you were with the night you decided not to study.
There is a certain freedom in being completely screwed, because you know things just can't get any worse.
The truth will set you free. But first it will piss you off.
If you can't do something well, enjoy doing it poorly.
I don't like it when someone tells me something about myself that I haven't yet realized. If I lack the courage to tell myself something revealing, I'm not ready to hear it from someone else.
Conceited people never get anywhere, because they think they're already there.
It is hard to believe that a man is telling the truth when you know that you would lie if you were in his place.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is, 'God is crying.' And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is, 'probably because of something you did.'
You have to believe in yourself, because I believe in you and I don't want to be wrong.
There is something behind those masks. You're just afraid to face it. You're not running away from who you are. You're running away from who you think you're becoming. But you don't have to face it alone.
If you are going to fall in love with me, it's only fair that you know what you are falling in love with. You are falling in love with my insecurities, and my obsession with trying to figure out what everyone thinks of me. You are falling in love with my immaturity, my constant need to feel loved and appreciated, my overactive tear ducts, my internet obsession. You fall in love with my troubled past, and my hopes and dreams, and how I'm a hopeless romantic at heart. If you fall in love with me, you fall in love with my self-hate and all my imperfections and my perception that nobody could ever love me. But, you are also falling in love with the way my eyes smile when I'm with you, the way I'll text you in the mornings just telling you I hope you have a great day. You're falling in love with the occasionally humorous and/or thought provoking things I say, and the way I blush when people ask me about you. But to me, the most important thing will be that you are falling in love with me, despite me thinking that it is impossible.
For everyone, there's a person, place, or time that brings you back and makes you feel alive.
Sometimes on the way to what's supposed to happen, something even better happens.
A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words.
In wisdom gathered over time I have found that every experience is a form of exploration.
No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions, and to build confidence in the creative spirit.
It takes a lot of imagination to be a good photographer. You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things. But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary.
Once the amateur's naive approach and humble willingness to learn fades away, the creative spirit of good photography dies with it. Every professional should remain always in his heart an amateur.
To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place... I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.
Life is all about risks and it requires you to jump. Don't be a person who has to look back and wonder what they would have or could have had. No one lives forever.
If you want to succeed in your life, remember this phrase: That past does not equal the future. Because you failed yesterday, or all day today, or a moment ago. All that matters is: What are you going to do, right now?
The tongue is but three inches long, yet it can kill a man six feet high.
Beginning is easy, continuing hard.
One dog yelping at nothing will set ten thousand straining at their collars.
When the cat mourns for the mouse do not take her seriously.
Unless you enter the tiger's den, you cannot take the cubs.
The reverse side also has a reverse side.
One kind word can warm three winter months.
When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete, everybody will respect you.
Someone will always be prettier. Someone will always be smarter. Someone will always be younger. But they will never be you.
If people don’t like me for whatever I do, for being me, then that’s too bad. I don’t want to change to be something that I’m not for other people to like me
Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write, every piece you finish
Take chances, take a lot of them. Because honestly, no matter where you end up and with whom, it always ends up just the way it should be. Your mistakes make you who you are. You learn and grow with each choice you make. Everything is worth it. Say how you feel, always. Be you, and be okay with it.
Anybody who criticizes you is a wimp. So be you. And be you loud, and be you strong, and be you to the maximum.
Sometimes you need to step outside, get some air, and remind yourself or who you are and where you want to be.
Instead of wishing you were someone else, be proud of who you are. You never know who has been looking at you wishing they were you.
I like the idea of being whoever I want to be.
Never underestimate a girl’s ability to find something out.
I’m tough, ambitious, and I know exactly what I want. If that makes me a bitch, okay.
Real women don’t look like the ones displayed in the magazines. They’re much more beautiful and interesting. It’s too bad they don’t feel that way themselves.
I really can’t deny it, I am who I am. I’m pretty normal. I’m not that smooth type of girl. I run into things, I trip, I spill food. I say stupid things… I really don’t have it all together.
This is for the girls who don’t always win. The girls who stay up all night listening to music that inspires them. The girls that laugh, smile, cry and think all on a daily basis. The girls who love, learn and regret. The girls who may never have it easy. The girls who learn the hard way to live and tell about it. The real girls.
Here’s to the girls: That keep a smile even though they’re going through hell. That keep their head high, even though they’d rather be elsewhere. That give amazing advice, but can’t seem to follow it themselves. That can make anyone laugh, but herself. Here’s to her.
Sometimes the wrong choices take us to the right places.
If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you’ll understand what little chance you have in trying to change others.
You change for two reasons. Either you learn enough that you want to or you’ve been hurt enough that you have to.
Each second that passes is another moment to turn it all around.
You will never become who you want to be if you keep blaming everyone else for who you are.
The scariest thing about distance is that you don’t know whether they will miss you or forget you.
Until you are broken, you don’t know what you’re made of.
Apologizing does not always mean that you’re wrong and the other person is right. It just means that you value your relationship more than your ego.
At some point, you have to realize that some people can stay in your heart, but not in your life.
You can’t keep messing up someone else's feelings just because you are unsure of your own.
Be proud of every scar on your heart, each one holds a lifetime’s worth of lessons.
I bet you don’t remember half of the things I’ll never forget.
If a girl understands your bullshit, sticks through your mistakes, and smiles even when you’ve done nothing for her — it’s obvious she’s a keeper. But it’s also obvious you don’t deserve her.
I have this fear that one day you will discover I am not as great as you once thought I was.
Don’t be afraid of death. Be afraid of a life you didn’t live. You don’t have to live forever, you just have to live.
We cast away priceless time in dreams, born of imagination, fed upon illusion, and put to death by reality.
Sometimes the greatest moments happen unplanned and the greatest regrets occur from not reaching what is planned.
In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take, relationships we were afraid to have, and the decisions we waited too long to make.
You might think it's the end of the road, but maybe it's time you carve your own path.
Youth is a circumstance you can't do anything about. The trick is to grow up without getting old.
I missed out on everything. Sometimes on the street I see teenagers hanging out and going to the movies, going to concerts, and I get so jealous.
All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me... You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.
It's what you learn after you know it all that counts.
Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man.
You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.
When you're a little kid you're a bit of everything: Scientist, Philosopher, Artist. Sometimes it seems like growing up is giving these things up one at a time.
Growing up is never easy. You hold on to things that were. You wonder what's to come.
You have to do your own growing no matter how tall your grandfather was.
None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm.
Everyone is the age of their heart.
Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.
We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.
Change of any sort requires courage.
Courage is the power to let go of the familiar.
We cannot change anything until we accept it.
It is important to spend most of your time in the company of people who support you without meddling, who give you the space to grow, who applaud when you spread your wings in whatever way you want to fly.
True learning is not about facts, but about conscious appreciation of the experience of living.
To the young child, all life is a great adventure—growing up should not mean growing dull and brittle.
The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!
The saddest thing in life is wasted talent.
I had always heard your entire life flashes in front of your eyes the second before you die. First of all, that one second isn’t a second at all, it stretches on forever, like an ocean of time… For me, it was lying on my back at Boy Scout camp, watching falling stars… And yellow leaves, from the maple trees, that lined my street… Or my grandmother’s hands, and the way her skin seemed like paper… And the first time I saw my cousin Tony’s brand new Firebird… And Janie… And Janie… And… Carolyn. I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me… but it’s hard to stay mad, when there’s so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I’m seeing it all at once, and it’s too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that’s about to burst… And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life… You have no idea what I’m talking about, I’m sure. But don’t worry… you will someday.
One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.
I don't like that man. I must get to know him better.
Many an opportunity is lost because a man is out looking for four-leaf clovers.
It’s crazy how one minute of your life could affect the next million.
Be sure to taste your words before you spit them out.
If you find it necessary to judge me by my past, don’t be surprised when I find it necessary to put you there.
There is a difference between ‘giving up’ and ‘moving on’.
You can’t lose something you never had. You can't keep what’s not yours. You can’t hold on to something that doesn’t want to stay.
Nobody can take away your pain, so don’t let anyone take away your happiness.
The beauty in a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart; the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring and that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.
Expose yourself to your deepest fear. After that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free.
Don’t you ever let a soul in the world tell you that you can’t be exactly who you are.
I want you to let go of all of your insecurities. I want you to reject anyone of anything that ever made you feel like you don’t belong.
Warning: The reflections in this mirror may be distorted by socially constructed ideas of ‘beauty’.
When life makes you have to put up with mean and hateful people, just think of them as sandpaper. They may scratch you, rub you the wrong way, but eventually, you end up smooth and polished. But the sandpaper, it’s just going to be worn out and ugly.
When I leave this world, I’ll leave no regrets. Leave something to remember, so they won’t forget I was here.
Anyone who doesn’t take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either.
Pain makes people change, but it also makes them stronger.
Once you choose hope, anything is possible.
Be yourself, because an original is worth more than a copy.
What consumes your mind, controls your life.
In the end, all you really have are the memories.
Life isn’t about holding the good cards, but about playing the ones you have well.
You might feel worthless to one person, but you are priceless to another.
Her life improved dramatically when she decided to break the rules and find beauty where she was told there was none.
It’s amazing because when you’re a kid you see the life you want and it never crosses your mind that it isn’t gonna turn out that way.
If you don’t like the road you’re walking on, pave another one.
If you are trapped between your feelings and what other people think is right, always go for whatever makes you happy, unless you want everybody to be happy except you.
Respect people’s feelings. Even if it doesn’t mean anything to you, it could mean everything to them.
When you are down to nothing, God is up to something.
To live a creative life, one must lose the fear of being wrong.
In life, you will meet two types of people. The ones who build you up and the ones who tear you down. In the end, you’ll thank them both.
A good apology has three parts: 1. I’m sorry. 2. It’s my fault. 3. What can I do to make it right?
In life we do things, some we wish we had never done. Some we wish we could replay a million times in our heads. But they all make us who we are and in the end, shape every detail about us. If we were to reverse any of them, we wouldn’t be the person we are. So just live, make mistakes, have wonderful memories, but never second guess who you are, where you have been, and most importantly where it is you are going.
You can spend your life avoiding your dreams, but every night you go to sleep.
From this point on I’m going to treat people exactly how they treat me. Some should be glad. Others should be scared.
And maybe we have to break everything to better ourselves.
Life is like a piano. What you get depends on how you play it.
Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.
The most decisive actions of our lives are often unconsidered actions.
Love the people God gave you, because he will need them back one day.
What’s better: a lie that draws a smile or truth that draws a tear?
Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy: Free your heart from hatred. Free your mind from worries. Live simply. Give more. Expect less.
Don’t chase success; chase excellence and success will come looking for you.
I have found that if you love life, life will love you back.
You’ve got to get up every morning with determination if you’re going to go to bed with satisfaction.
The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination.
Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You want to do one thing, but you are bound to do something else. Something hurts you, yet you know it shouldn’t. You take certain things for granted, even when you know you should never take anything for granted.
People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason the world is chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.
A woman has the age she deserves.
In this life, to earn your place, you have to fight for it.
You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.
Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.
If you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.
Trust that your soul has a plan, and even if you can’t see it completely, know that everything will unfold as it is meant to.
True confidence leaves no room for jealousy. When you know you are great, you have no need to hate.
It’s tougher to be vulnerable than to actually be tough.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.
To be suspicious is not a fault. To be suspicious all the time without coming to a conclusion is the defect.
Words are like weapons, they wound sometimes.
If you really want something, you can figure out how to make it happen.
Sometimes life’s so much cooler when you just don’t know any better and all the painful lessons have not hammered your head open yet.
Don’t forget your history, nor your destiny.
There are multiple sides to all of us. Who we are, and who we might be if we follow our dreams.
Fear is the only obstacle that gets in the way of doing what we love. People are scared to travel, to try new things, to follow their dreams. Fear holds us back from living the lives we were made to live.
We’re all damaged in our own way. Nobody’s perfect. I think we are all somewhat screwy, every single one of us.
Because we’re mortal, because any moment might be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we’re doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again.
If you want to find out who your real friends are, sink the ship. The first ones to jump aren’t your friends.
We never know the worth of water till the well is dry.
The duty of youth is to challenge corruption.
That moment, when all you’ve ever dreamed of, even looks like it might be within reach. When everything is about to happen, who do you want beside you? That’s how you know who you're supposed to be with.
Ever notice how ‘What the hell’ is always the right answer?
Most importantly, keep smiling. Because life is a beautiful thing, and there’s so much to smile about.
I’ve never dropped anyone I believed in.
If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be your friend?
May the bridges I burn light the way.
What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable?
If it's still in your mind, it is worth taking the risk.
The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
The real world does not start when you leave High School, when you can legally drink or when you get a job. You have been in the real world your whole life. So go live it.
Do more of what makes you happy.
Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.
I am responsible for what I say. I am not responsible for what you understand.
Music helps me escape from the reality I live in.
Everything has beauty. But not everyone can see it.
According to Greek Mythology, humans were originally created with 4 arms, 4 legs, and a head with 2 faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.
You're not deep.
You're not an intellectual.
You're not an artist.
You're not a critic.
You're not a poet.
You just have internet access.
Quiet people have the loudest minds.
Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.
Change your words. Change your world.
Some of the most interesting people I know don't know what to do with their lives.
I think I'm afraid to be happy because whenever I get too happy, something bad always happens.
When you have to make a hard decision, flip a coin. Why? Because when that coin is in the air... You suddenly know what you're hoping for.
You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.
Be the person your dog thinks you are.
You can't start the next chapter of your life you keep re-reading the last one.
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.
Never confuse education with intelligence.
You are the result of 4 billion years of evolutionary success. Act like it.
If you're absent during my struggle, don't expect to be present during my success
It's not about raising your voice, it's about improving your argument.
Friends make the bad times good and the good times unforgettable.
One of the worst feelings in the world is having to doubt something you thought was unquestionable.
I truly respect the people who stay strong, when they have every reason to break down.
You need to forget all the reasons it won't work and focus on the reasons it will work.
Never let your memories be greater than your dreams.
Stop saying ‘I wish’ and start saying ‘I will’.
Live life fully while you’re here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You’re going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don’t try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.
Thinking too much of what others think of you ultimately changes what you think of yourself.
If what you see by the eye doesn’t please you, then close your eyes, and see from the heart. Because the heart can see beauty and love more than the eyes can ever wonder.
Beauty isn’t about having a pretty face. It’s about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and a pretty soul.
Everything is beautiful, but beautiful isn’t everything.
Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful.
I think best friends are the ones who have been through what you’ve been through. They understand where you’re coming from and where you’re going. It’s always a challenge to stick by a friend who’s making choices we disagree with and are sometimes even dangerous, but it’s at these times that our friends need us most.
We’re not friends anymore, just strangers with memories.
Understand that friends come and go, but with a precious few you should hold on. The older you get, the more you need the people who knew you when you were young.
If nothing else, I’ve realized who I can count on. The friends who can read my mind and finish my sentence. Who call me in the middle of a text message, or answer my question before I ask it. Who tells me what’s going on in my crazy head.
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
Don't think too much, you'll create a problem that wasn't even there in the first place.
If you can’t play an instrument I would say paint or do something like art. If you have pain, try to put it into a different form other than tears or talking about it.
Dr. Cox: "Relationships don't work the way they do on television and in the movies, 'Will they? Won't they?' and then they finally do and are happy forever, give me a break!! 9 out of 10 of them end because they weren't right for each other to begin with, and half the ones that get married get divorced anyway. And I'm tellin' you right now, through all this stuff, I have not become a cynic, I haven't. Yes... I do happen to believe that love is mainly about pushing chocolate covered candies, and 'ya know... In some cultures, a chicken. You can call me a sucker, I don't care, 'cause I do... believe in it. Bottom line: the couples that are truly right for each other weighed through the same crap as everybody else, but the big difference is they don't let it take them down. One of those two people will stand up and fight for that relationship every time... if it's right and they're real lucky. One of 'em 'ell say something."
Quotes from the Companions Quartet Series
Connie: "So, how many people have signed?"
Rat: "Nearly everyone I've asked. I even got Mr.Conrad to sign during detention, didn't I, Col?"
Col: "Yeah--though it might just've been to get you to shut up."
Rat: "Well, it worked--don't diss the strategy."
Rat: "Mighty craic this is."
Connie: "I think I'm going mad."
Ivor Coddrington: "What was that? Claiming insanity as your excuse now, are you?"
Connie: (shrugs hopelessly)
Ivor Coddrington: "Is that your attitude? Either you are willingly causing harms to others or you have been driven out of your mind by the powers of the universal--not a very attractive choice of explanations"
Ivor Coddrington: "It's not a child; it's a universal."
Connie: "That's what Kullervo once said."
Coddrington: "In communication with him, are you! Oh, it's all coming out now!"
Connie: "I am not! But you're just like him! You see my gift and you hate me for it! You don't want to help me: you only want to use me or get rid of me!"
Connie: "Doing Kullervo's work for him now, are you? I always thought you were on his side! Well, he'll be thrilled to hear what you've done! He's been trying to get me away from the Society for ages, and you've done it for him! Congratulations!"
Coddrington: "You heard that, didn't you, Francis: she accused me--a Trustee--of working for Kullervo."
Col: "Don't be an idiot! We don't care what Coddrington says! We're going to talk to you whether you like it or not!"
Gard: "Did you really accuse the Companion to Weather Giants of working for Kullervo?"
Connie: "Er... I'm not sure. Possibly, I might've said something like that. I got a bit carried away."
Mack: "Coddrington's an idiot."
Evelyn: "You don't agree with Coddrington, do you, Francis?"
Dr. Brock: "Of course not, though I can understand his position. Connie did accuse him of working for Kullervo."
Mack: "Good for you, girl!"
Rat: "We all know she's a menace, but then my ma thinks I'm a menace. And what's life without a little bit of risk, I ask you? I'm right behind Connie. In fact, I was hoping you'll let me come along for the ride. It's not every day your friend turns out to have cosmic powers, now is it?"
Col: "I'm with Rat, Connie's all right by me -- all of her. I'll just have to add some new moves to my training to dodge any more lightning bolts that come in my direction."
Mack: "I never thought that unreasonable of her," (winks at Col) "You often drive me crazy, too. A lightning bolt was probably what you deserved."
Connie: "What's he doing?"
Col: "It's the next stage, don't you remember? Oh, of course, you didn't get this far, did you? The idiot failed you."
House MD Quotes:
House: "I assume "minimal at best" is your stiff upper lip British way of saying "no chance in hell"?"
Chase: "I'm Australian."
House: "You put the Queen on your money; you're British."
Wilson: "You really don't need to know everything about everybody."
House: "I don't need to watch The O.C. but it makes me happy."
Foreman: "Have you seen the latest research?"
Chase: "Yes, I have. What I haven't seen lately is a kid eating an apple or riding a bike. You Americans can't even compete with the rest of the world in basketball anymore, unless, of course, it's the type you play with a remote control on a big screen TV."
House: "Wait! Are you going to let him say that? He insulted our basketball teams!"
House: "I'm thinking I can convince Vogler it'll be more cost-efficient to keep all of them."
Wilson: "You should be able to pull that off. Most billionaires aren't very good with numbers."
House: "It will be more cost-efficient once I grab Cameron's ass, call Forman a spade, and Chase...well, I'll grab his ass too."
House: "Take these, go home, talk to your daughter."
Female Patient: "What?"
House: "Your pants, your blouse, your scarf are all freshly dry cleaned. Everything except your jacket, it's got a smudge on it. Probably two days old. Which means you didn't know the jacket had been worn. So either your husband is a crossdresser or your daughter has been borrowing your clothes without telling you. Probably wants to look older to get into bars."
Female Patient: "I don't have a daughter."
Clinic Lawyer: "So what's that—two strokes you've scared this guy into?"
House: "Yeah—it's making me question my view of myself as a people person."
House: "I kidnapped you and you're surprised I lied to you?"
House: "People don't change. For example, I'm gonna keep on repeating 'people don't change.'"
House: "I noticed a trend: if no one does anything, sick people often get sicker."
House: "Just a warning: if we have to start getting 'consent' every time we do a procedure, soon it'll be 'informed' consent they'll want."
House: "Paging me during Judge Judy—not a good way to win my affections."
House: "Is this an intervention? You're a little late, since I'm not using drugs anymore. I am, however, still hooked on phonics."
Chase: "We've got an MRI scheduled in twenty minutes. Earliest Foreman could get the machine."
House: "I teach you to lie and cheat and steal and the second my back is turned you wait in line!"
House: "Everybody lies."
Miroku: "Life itself is a frightening image for every human being... being strong in life isn't easy."
Kagome: "I want you to be happy. I want you to laugh a lot. I don't know what exactly I'll be able to do for you, but I'll always be by your side."
Kagome: "Miroku is right. Inuyasha could have killed the artist, and ended the trouble in one blow. But instead, he spared the man's life and went straight for the ink pot. Yeah, I guess Inuyasha's all right. He just doesn't know it yet. I might tell him someday, if the time is ever right."
Inuyasha: [thinking about Kagome] "As long as she's alive and well, that's all I can hope for. I can't bear to see another woman die."
[the ground shakes with an approaching demon]
Inuyasha: "Whatever it is, it's big."
Miroku: "Yes, let's run."
Inuyasha: "What, no way! You can't just eat and run!"
Miroku: "If the demon is truly big, then we are no match for it. It's irrational. It's impossible. It's against my religion."
Inuyasha: "You ought to be arrested."
InuYasha: "There was no place for me, so I had to make one for myself. And then I realized I had a place, but I was the only one in it. I didn't know any other way to live."
InuYasha: "I've heard similar threats from a number of poor fools whose memories I keep alive by dancing on their tombstones!"
Miroku: "Pain is nothing. It's death that concerns me."
InuYasha: "I'll stay a half-demon a while longer, just for you."
Fruits Basket Quotes:
Shigure: "We just witnessed a classic example of what I call miss directed rage. I believe the technical term is being an ass
Tohru: "I don't think anyone is born knowing the reason why they're here, it's just something you have to find as you go along."
Kyoko: "For there to be pain, there has to be kindness. For darkness to stand out, there has to be the sun."
Tohru: "A conscience grows, just like the body. It's bred within your heart. That's why the shape of people's kindness is so different."
Yuki: "They say that we should love ourself first before other people learn to love us. But it's not as easy as it seems. Sometimes, we need someone to accept us and love us first. Then, we would learn to see ourselves through that person's eyes and learn to love ourself."
Yuki: "I'm not sure why I've decided to do this. I'm not any stronger than I was, and nothing else has changed. But all the same, this time I'm not going to run away. It's okay to feel weak sometimes. It's okay to be afraid. The important thing is that we face our fears. That's... that's what makes us strong."
Tohru: "If you think of someone's good qualities as the umeboshi in an onigiri, it's as if their qualities are stuck to their back! People around the world are like onigiri. Everyone has an umeboshi with a different shape and color and flavor. But because it's stuck on their back, they might not be able to see their umeboshi. "There's nothing special about me. I'm just white rice."" [in her head] 'That's not true. There is an umeboshi -- on your back.' [aloud] "Maybe the reason people get jealous of each other, is because they can see so clearly the umeboshi on other people's backs. I can see them, too. I can see them perfectly. There's an amazing umeboshi on your back, Kyo-kun."
Tohru: "A lot of people are too scared to admit that they're still children. They do everything they can to avoid it. So people who can admit that have a lot of courage."
Tohru: "I'm sure that inside your heart... you're trying with all your might to find it on your own... the reason you were born. Because... because really... there might not be anyone who was born with a reason. I think that everyone... everyone might have to find one on their own." [in her head] 'A reason for being born... A reason that it's okay to be alive... A reason to exist.' [aloud] "I think everyone might have to find it themselves... and decide for themselves. It could be your dreams... your job... or a person... The reason you're looking for... might be vague, unclear... and uncertain. [in her head] 'And you might lose it.' [aloud] "But as long as you're alive... you have to keep searching for that reason."
Tohru: "Sometimes living can be hard, but it's only because we're alive that we can make each other...laugh, cry...be happy! If that's not a reason for being born in this world...I don't know what is!"
Tohru: "As long as you live things will keep happening! As long as you're alive wishes will keep being made!"
Tohru: "My mom told me, it's better to trust people than to doubt them. She said that people aren't born with kind hearts. When we're born, all we have are desires for food and material things. Selfish instincts, I guess. But she said that kindness is something that grows inside of each person's body, but it's up to us to nurture that kindness in our hearts. That's why kindness is different for every person. "We're all born with selfish desires, so we can all relate to those feelings in others. But kindness is something made individually by each person, so it's easy to misunderstand when others are trying to be kind to you.""
Tohru: "It's not always easy to see the good in people. In some people, you might even doubt that it's there at all. But if you can somehow, find a way to believe...sometimes that's all it takes to help someone, to give them the strength to find the good in themselves."
Yuki: (referring to the letter for Kisa from the teacher) "Here. It says to 'like yourself.' But good things about yourself... how are you supposed to find them? I only know things I hate about myself. 'Cause that's all I know, I hate myself. But even if you force yourself to find good things... it feels so empty. It doesn't work that way. People like your teacher just don't get it. I think... when you hear someone say they like you, for the first time... then you can begin to like yourself. I think when someone accepts you, for the first time... you feel like you can... forgive yourself a little. You can begin to face your fears... with courage."
Yuki: (referring to Ayame)"Skin. Him. Now. Barbeque the bastard!!"
Yuki: "Perhaps if you'd just die you'd be reincarnated as something more pleasant."
Yuki: "I won't ask what you wish for. I only hope it comes true by your own two hands."
Kyo: "Maybe I'm not perfect. Maybe I have a long way to go. But someday... someday I'll be able to stand and walk on my own. Without hurting anyone... and without being a burden."
Hatsuharu: [Black Haru yelling at student council president for shouting at Momiji] "Shut up. Quit shouting like you're king of the friggin' world. You're making my ears bleed you bastard. Now I've got some common sense for you... If I wore a tie, it wouldn't change who I am. If I had no piercings, it wouldn't mean I'm nice and if my hair wasn't black, it wouldn't stop me from kicking your ass! Who do you think you are anyway? You think you're God huh?! What's the matter?! Run out of things to say? No more advice?! You're not so hot anymore right now are you?!"
Hatsuharu: "Don't judge me based on the same story and laugh."
Hatsuharu: " ...Really...You should've seen Rin. She went pale, then white, then worse pale. See it next time. And her breasts grew again."
Yuki: "Are you trying to lighten the mood, brag, or just start in on sexual harassment?"
Hatsuharu: "Can't it be all three?""
Kagura: "It's just that I'm fighting the pain of lost love. I guess it's what you'd call a rude awakening... or, maybe... the weight of responsibility? But I'm fine. I'm fine. Caring for someone isn't based on logic. You can't really rationalize emotions. Once I think "I like him"... it's all over."
Kagura: "I will forgive him right after I kill him."
Kyoko: "True kindness isn't something we're born with. It's something we had to work on..."
Kyoko: "Tohru, you must always be yourself and do things at your own pace. Someday... you'll catch up."
Kyoko: "We're all born with selfish desires so we can relate to those feelings in others. But kindness is created individually by each person... So it's easy to misunderstand when someone is trying to be kind to you... But, Tohru, people's differences are something to celebrate."
Kyoko: "Ah, I'm sorry, I guess this is farewell. Let Tohru find happiness. Please by many people let her be loved. If you become perplexed or make errors, in the end have the kind of life that you can have pride in living. The kind where you can say, "I persevered." Repeating delightful things and sad things. And in that way keep getting older. I persevered."
Rin: "A bond may seem like a beautiful thing from the outside...but if those involved see it as a burden, it's nothing but a shackle."
Rin: "And if when everything ends, nothing is left in my hands... that's alright."
Shigure: "People aren't born social. Sure it comes easier to some people... but most people, like you, need to work at it. Some more than others. You're just inexperienced. For example, as a martial artist, you have the strength to break the table with your fist. But you also have the self-control to stop your fist right before it hits the table. You weren't born with that control, were you? You had to refine it. It's the same as interacting with people. But training for that isn't in the mountains -- it has to be in town where people live. Mingling with people, hurting them, getting hurt by them. That's how you learn about people and about yourself. If you don't, you'll never care about anyone but yourself. You may be a black belt fighter, but you're still a white belt in dealing with people. For the sake of the girl who will one day tell you she loves you... Don't turn away. Keep training."
Shigure: "When you get anxious about the future, it is better not to think about it. The more you think about it the more anxious you'll get. Of course its important to think about what lies ahead too, but if you only look at what's down the road, you'll get tangled by the "laundry" by your feet and fall, won't you? You see, its also important to think about what you can do now. What you can do today, and if you wash things one at a time, you'll be done before you know it."
Momiji: "But I think... I want to live with all my memories. Even if they're bad memories. Even if they're memories that only hurt me... that I'd rather forget. If I keep them and keep trying, without running away, then someday I'll be strong enough that those memories can't defeat me. I believe that because I want to think that there's no such thing as a memory that's ok to forget."
Ayame: "Strangely enough, when you get older, the things you didn't understand when you were a child... start to make sense. "When this happened, I should have done that." "When that happened, I should have said this." Those types of things. You start to understand rather than regret. It may be closer to repentance. So it may be that I do want to repent and erase the ignorant self from my childhood. Maybe that's what they mean when they say adults are selfish."
Kazuma: "Just as no matter how hard you try to keep it away... despair will attack you again and again. In the same manner hope will return to you. Again and again."
Kazuma: "Parents have no right to deprive their children of free will. But they do have a right to worry about them. Keep thinking about it. I don't mind if you take twice as long as other people... because I want to know the answer you give."
Kazuma: "You said before that you hate it here. Well, I don't believe that's true. You don't hate it... but you're afraid to face what you know you must. So instead... you run away. The air that you said was smothering... you know it can also heal you. But you refuse to let it. You refuse to let anyone see you for your true self. You're too afraid of what you might lose. You're running away because you're afraid to admit your feelings even to yourself."
Hatori: "Often times in memory, we have the tendency to overly romanticize the people we care about."
Hatori: "It's true, crying unexpectedly does make you feel better. When you're an adult you forget that."
Hatori: "I started crying. It was the first time in my life that I felt forgiven. Like I was saved. Like the frozen snow that's melted by spring, the tears wouldn't stop."
Hatori: "One more word, Shigure, and the entire publishing industry will know every embarrassing thing you’ve done since you were four."
Barajou no Kiss Quotes:
Anis: "OH BOY... WHAT AM I GONNA DO WITH ALL THIS RAGE..."
Kaede: "How am I supposed to know how some sexual deviant's mind works?"
Anis: "Let's find Tenjoh-sempai's weakness, and exploit the hell out of it!!"
Kaede: "Hell, yeah!"
Seiran: "Anis-sama, that's not what we came here for!"
Seiran: "But Tenjoh-sempai is so open with everything... How can we be sure he even HAS a weakness?"
Anis: "Don't be silly! All people have weaknesses!"
Kaede: "See, normally I'd agree with you, but this is Tenjoh-sempai we're talking about. There's a pretty good chance he ISN'T human."
Seiran: "Two of the four of us already aren't!"
Avatar: The Last Airbender Quotes:
Katara: [after Aang disappears] “What should we do, Zuko?”
Zuko: “Why are you all looking at me?”
Katara: “Well, you are kind of an expert at tracking Aang!”
Katara: “Being part of the group means being part of group hugs.”
Katara: “What happened?”
Sokka: “Zuko's gone crazy! I made a sand sculpture of Suki and he destroyed it! Oh, and he's attacking Aang.”
Aang: “I'm not ready. I need more time to master firebending.”
Toph: “And frankly, your earthbending could still use some work.”
Katara: “Then he's gotta be somewhere on Ember Island. Let's split up and look for him.”
Toph: “I'm going with Zuko! What? Everyone else went on a life change field trip with Zuko. Now it's my turn.”
Toph: “Wait. Has anyone noticed that Momo's missing too?”
Sokka: “Oh, no. I knew it was only a matter of time! APPA ATE MOMO!”
Katara: “Sokka, Appa didn't eat Momo.”
Sokka: “That's just what Appa wants you to think! Momo! I'm coming for you, buddy!”
Katara: “Don't try and stop us, Aang.”
Aang: “I wasn't going to. This is a journey you need to take. You need to face this man.”
Aang: “But when you do, please don't choose revenge. Let your anger out... and then let it go.”
Aang: “Looking for me?”
Prince Zuko: “You're the air bender? You're the Avatar?”
Sokka: “No way!”
Prince Zuko: “I've spent years preparing for this encouter. Training. Meditating. You're just a child.”
Aang: “Well, you're just a teenager.”
Sokka: “Get in. We're going to save your boyfriend.”
Katara: “He's not my―!”
Katara: “And, Sokka, I'm sure you'll get the chance to knock some fire bender heads along the way.”
Sokka: “I'd like that. I'd really like that.”
Katara: “I like your hair.”
Aang: ”I have hair?”
Aang: “I have so much to do.”
Katara: “I know, but you'll have our help.”
Toph: “You didn't think you could get out of training just by coming to the Fire Nation, did you?”
Katara: [after the gang has been captured by pirates] “Aang, this is all my fault.”
Aang: “No, Katara, it isn't.”
Uncle Iroh: “Yeah, it kind of is.”
Sokka: “No wonder they were trying to hack us. You stole their waterbending scroll.”
Katara: “I prefer to think of it as ‘High risk trading’.”
Katara: [voiceover] “Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the ruthless firebenders. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years have passed and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the war. Two years ago, my father and the men of my tribe journeyed to the Earth Kingdom to help fight against the Fire Nation, leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe. Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and that the cycle is broken, but I haven't lost hope. I still believe that somehow the Avatar will return to save the world.”
Gran Gran: “Katara, try not to put all your hope in this boy.”
Katara: “But he's special. I can tell. I sense he's filled with much wisdom.”
Aang:“See? My tongue is stuck to my staff.”
Sokka: “How come every time you play with magic water, I get soaked?”
Toph: ”I'm really going to miss you guys.”
Katara: “Me, too.”
Sokka: “Great. That's enough. Okay, we love each other... Seriously.”
Sokka: “Look, we escaped from the Dai Li. We got Appa back. I'm telling you, we should go to the Earth King now and tell him our plan. We're on a roll.”
Katara: “One good hour after weeks of trouble isn't much of a roll.”
Katara: “You have to trust us.”
The Earth King: “You invade my palace. Lay waste to all my guards. Break down my fancy door, and you expect me to trust you?”
Toph: “He has a good point.”
Long Feng: “I can explain this, your majesty. This is nothing more than a construction project.”
Katara: “Really? Then perhaps you can explain the Fire Nation insignia on your construction project.”
Long Feng: “...Well, it's imported, of course. You know, you can't trust domestic machinery.”
Katara: "Is it just me, or is this guy's crown a little crooked?"
Aang: “Guys, are you okay?”
Katara: “Other than crystals slowing encasing my entire body? Doing great.”
Katara: “You might have everyone else here buying your... transformation... but you and I both know you've struggled with doing the right thing in the past. So let me tell you something right now. You make one step backward... one slip up... give me one reason to think you might hurt Aang, and you won't have to worry about your "destiny" anymore. Because I will make sure your destiny ends... right then and there... permanently.”
Katara: “And what was all that crazy stuff about setting Appa free? What a liar!”
Toph: “Actually, he wasn't lying...”
Sokka: “Oh, hurray! After a lifetime of evil, at least he didn't add animal cruelty to the list!”
Toph: “I'm just saying that considering his messed up family and how he was raised, he could have turned out a lot worse.”
Katara: “You're right, Toph. Let's go find him and give him a medal. The "Not-As-Much-Of-A-Jerk-As-You-Could-Have-Been Award”!”
Shugo Chara Quotes:
Amu Hinamori: "Are you stupid?"
Yuki Hatuba: "Huh?"
Amu: "Even if you're far away... the sky is always connected. Friends are friends no matter where you are. Change isn't so bad."
Ikuto: "Just so you know, even if I don't break it, a lot of people break their own Egg. All those adults walking around with tired faces... They've thrown away the "person they want to be"."
Amu: "An adult told me... that very few people can make their dreams come true... Is it true? Do you have to be perfect to pursue your dreams...? Is it pointless to work hard so you can be the person you want to be?"
"I'll tell you a secret about storytelling. Cinderella, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty... were not perfect at the beginning. At the beginning of the story, the main character is always missing something. It's only a happy ending on the last page, right? If the princess had everything from the beginning, there wouldn't be a story. Anyone who is imperfect or incomplete... can become the main character in the story."
Amu: "Those people are all aspiring to become professionals, right? They have dreams... Don't you, Ikuto?"
Ikuto: "...You're such a child."
Amu: "Age doesn't matter when it comes to dreams! So why are you playing, then? Why do you plan an instrument?"
Ikuto: "Because I'm a child, too."
Utau: "Who knows? I don't understand how adults think. Moving up in the world is more important than their dreams."
Amu: "Huh? Those clothes... Are they a school uniform? You're a student?"
Yoru: "Of course."
Amu: 'Oh yeah. Come to think of it, what else would be be? It's just that I thought he was a stray cat or something.'
Amu: "You're hurt?"
Ikuto: "... You're annoying. Go away."
Ikuto: "Don't touch me in pervy places."
Spring is about...?
Nadeshiko: "Looking at flowers."
Amu: "Changing classes."
Yaya: "Going to school."
Ikuto and Yoru: "Being in heat."
Amu: "Can they say that in this manga?"
Tadase: "When I'm in trouble, can I talk to this picture of you?"
Kukai: "Why don't you just call me?"
Kukai Soma: "When you love someone... even if you're stubborn and try to hide it, it comes out."
Utau Hoshina: "Huh?"
Kukai: "I mean, I don't really understand, but... I think if we didn't do anything for Nikaidoe-sensei and Sanjo-san, they would've broken up. They love each other, but they were too stubborn. If people are true to themselves, they would feel better. But I wonder why people put a lid on their feelings? Utau?"
Utau: "You can say that... because you're still only a kid. You've never fallen in love before. You don't understand. Don't try to lecture me!"
Utau: "It's no wonder he would hate me. I'm all alone now..."
Kukai: "You have me. That makes two of us."
Nagihiko Fujisaki: "... If I'm going to tell Amu-chan about my secret."
Rhythm: "Just tell her casually."
Temari: "But she might faint with shock."
Nagihiko: "Yeah. Girls may look strong, but they can be fragile. I can't make a decision when I think how I might hurt her feelings."
Nagihiko: "What are you doing?"
Rima Mashiro: "Calling for reinforcements."
Nagihiko: "You mean the boys in your fan club? You're going to make them come."
Rima: "Yeah. They'd do anything for me."
Nagihiko: "That's not nice. You can't toy with boys' feelings like that."
Rima: "I'm not toying. They just want to do things for me, and I'm allowing them to."
Nagihiko: "... I see. It's a blessing when you're cute."
Rima: "That doesn't make me happy."
Nagihiko: "I know why you don't like me."
Nagihiko: "Both you and I are liars. Because... it doesn't make you happy when people compliment your cute face. Yet, you use it as a weapon to take advantage of others. Just like me, you're lying to everyone."
Nagihiko: "... It's okay to cry."
Rima: "I won't. He cried for me."
Nagihiko: "The ending of a story... Could be "They lived happily ever after" or "She turned into sea foam and disappeared." No matter a happy ending or a sad ending... We're only readers and we can't change it. Your parents... Met, fell in love, and separated in their story. That couldn't have been changed by you or anyone else. But... You have your own story. Can I be in it?"
Nagihiko: "Can I be a character in your story?" 'I found... the early blooming flower... that has the strength to survive the winter.'
Amu: "It's all ending. I can't believe it."
Ikuto: "It's not the end. It's the beginning."
Ikuto: "I promise. No matter where I go, how far apart we are... I'll come back to you. And one day, when you're older... I promise I'll come for you. The fact that I love you won't change."
Ikuto: "If you can't believe me, I'll swear on it with a kiss..."
Tadase Hotori: "Tsukasa-san..."
Tsukasa Amakawa: "Hm?"
Tadase: "What are Guardian Characters? Why did Amu-chan's Characters go away, and the come back? What was the meaning of the journey on the road of stars?"
Tsukasa: "Fine, let me give you some answers. Her Guardian Characters weren't gone to begin with. When we're children, the window to our heart is clear. That is why we can clearly see the Guardian Characters -- who we want to be. Even if sometimes, the heart is hit by rain or blown by heavy winds. But when we become adults, we have to suddenly think about many things... And in that process, the window becomes fogged. We can't see through it anymore. But, see? If you wipe a fogged window... it easily becomes clear again. Your journey on the road of stars wasn't to find something that you lost. It was to become aware of something that was always there. And your journey... Will continue..." 'One day...'
Amu: 'I know I can get there. All the way to the future. Without letting go... of our hands.'
Tsukasa: "Your heart never goes away. If you keep your window clear and keep looking... you can... see it many times."
Amu: "I'm going to grow up and become an adult. But... No matter how much I change, as long as I don't lose the "I" which is me... I can be whoever I want!"
Fushigi Yûgi Quotes:
Tasuki: "What the hell izzat?! Some kind of squirrel?"
Amiboshi (Pretending to be Chiriko): "I heard a sound like the squeal of a terrified cross-dresser!"
Miaka: "Wh-what's wrong?! Is there something in my teeth?"
Tamahome: "No. I was just thinking how nice it would be if we were always like this."
Tamahome: "Miaka... I've been sending money home, but I've also been putting a little aside for myself."
Tamahome: "I mean, I'm reaching that age when, you know... When I want to strike out on my own."
Miaka: "Yeah... Uh-huh..."
Tamahome: "So... I'd like to... Build myself a house... And live a humble-but-happy life... And so... And kids. A boy would be nice, but that's just me being selfish... I-In other words... What I'm saying is... Please do me the honor... Of living in that house."
Tamahome: "With me, of course! What else!? We wouldn't think of building our home until all of this is over... But when we go to Bei-Jia, we won't be back in Hong-Nan for a long time! I'd like us to discuss it with Father first. if it's okay with you... I want you... to marry me!"
Miaka: "Marriage! I-I couldn't! Besides, I'm only 15. In four months I'll be 16, though."
Tamahome: "That's the perfect age! And I'm at the right age, too."
Miaka: "Right age? Oh, I see, here."
Tamahome: "I've been thinking about it for a long time. You can bet that I'll work real hard. You'll want for nothing. I promise."
Tamahome: "I'll protect you... forever! I'll make you happy!"
Chichiri: "You can't compare love and friendship. No da. But you're gonna gain one at the cost of the other. You can't help that. No da."
Tamahome: "Hey, what's the matter, Tasuki?"
Tasuki: "A-Ain't notin' the matter with me."
Tamahome: "Oh? I get it!! You can't swim!!"
Tasuki: "Wh-why, whatever are ya talking about, señor? me? Unable to swim? How pathetic d'ya think I am?! Ha ha ha! What absurdity!"
Tamahome: "Your sweat gives you away." *Tries to throw Tasuki into water* "Go!"
Tasuki: "Aieee!! Help!!"
Tamahome: "Hah hah! The minute we get on the ship, he starts trembling!" *Points and laughs at Tasuki*
Tasuki: "Shaddap! I was born an' raised in the mountains! Whaddaya want?"
Nuriko: "Stop playing around and help out! You're acting like kids!"
Tasuki: "Yer only mad 'cause Miaka dumped you!"
Tamahome: "She did not!"
Tamahome: "You tried to take advantage of me in my sleep! How icky!"
Miaka: "You wish!! I brought you some food, and you grabbed me in your sleep!!"
Tamahome: "Oh, man! My dream self usually tries to go all the way! What's wrong with me?"
Tasuki: "Nggh! I won't forget... The sacrifice you three made for me!!"
Tamahome: "Hey, we're still alive over here!"
Nuriko: "How can you have zero coordination and still be alive?"
Miaka: "How should I know?!"
Nuriko: "We have to stay alive!! We may look back at this and laugh someday... But until that day comes, I won't let you die!"
Chiriko: "Everybody! This is just a precaution, but we should all wear women's clothes!"
Tamahome: "You know... Ever since I was a kid my dad would say, "You were born for the love of just one woman." He always said it. It's you. Listen. Even before we were born, destiny determined that we would meet. So you can bet that my feelings... Won't be changing... Miaka..."
Tasuki: "Hey, Chiriko! Didja get the character back? Yer spacin' out there! Thanks to you, I'm in drag! Do somethin' about it!"
Miaka: "A matriarchy?"
Chiriko: "Yes. The men are chained, their eyes gouged out, and afterwards they're enslaved!"
Nuriko: "Anybody who resists is executed on the spot?"
Tasuki: "Ya gotta be kiddin'! How d'ya expect me to hear that an' stay sober?! Drink up, Tamahome!"
Chiriko: "Did I mention that one of the ingredients in their liquor is eyeballs?" *Tasuki and Tamahome spit out liquor*
Tamahome: "You talk big, but I gotta warn you. Any drink made from my eyeballs is gonna make you dirt poor! Are you sure you can risk it!?"
Nuriko: "Tamahome... Threats aren't your forte, are they."
Nuriko: "It's so cold! Hey, where'd Tama-Baby go?"
Tasuki: "Bein' dragged this way an' that by the kid he rescued. If he wants the brat, he can have him! Sheesh!"
Miaka: "What's the matter with Tasuki?"
Chichiri: "When Tasuki tried to play with him, the boy said, "I don't wanna play with scary face," and burst into tears. No da. But don't let it get to you. Your whole body is equally scary. No da.
Tasuki: "I don' need abuse from you!!"
Tamahome: "It was like another sister came outta the woodwork, depending on me for everything!"
Miaka: 'Excuse me!'
Tamahome: "At first, that's how I felt... Then, at some point, I realized that I was in love with you."
Kid: "Goodbye, Mr. Scary Face!"
Tasuki: 'Yer gonna git smacked, brat!'
Thug: "'Ya got money, right? People don't travel without money!"
Tamahome: "I get it. The whole thing was a trick!"
Thug: "Not the whole thing. That guy sitting in the corner there is my dad. Now... your money?"
Tamahome: "Right, money. Sorry, I'm all out. Could ya front me some?"
Thug: "Okay. We'll just take you."
Tamahome: "Look... No offense, Mister, but I'm straight."
Thug: "Just what are you implying?!"
Tamahome: 'Aren't we fated to be together?"
Nuriko: "One tiny little poke and-- "
Tamahome: "Tiny for you is brass knuckles for anybody human."
Miaka: "...Oh! I get it!"
Miaka: "I finally realized the danger you were in. And I forced you to go! I'm so sorry, Tamahome!"
Miaka: "He agreed to tell you about the Shentso-Pao, but what he wanted in return... He must've done this! And done that! And, ohm'god, done the other thing!! Waah! He made you his beeyatch!!"
Tamahome: "They didn't do anything!!"
Miaka: "Oh, then you asked them to?"
Tamahome: "No! No! No! And watch the language, will ya?"
Mitsukake: "I believe each life comes into this world with a purpose... To do something no one else can. And the death of every person... Every living thing also has a deep meaning. Nuriko has fufilled her mission. She lived her life as best as she could... Up to the last moment."
Tasuki: "It's funny... I can't tell if it was womanly or manly... But that sure was a noble way t'die."
Miaka: "No... Gender has nothing to do with it. Nuriko... was just Nuriko."
Tasuki: "Damnit! I don't care if you are ghosts, let's decide this with our fists like real men!"
Tamahome: "They're not real men anymore, and they don't have fists! There're some basics you're not getting!"
Tomite: "You agree? Fine, then strip!"
Tamahome: "Wh-what? What's on your minds? Y-You can't be thinking - "
Tasuki: "Yer just a buncha damn ghost perverts!"
Tomite: "Stop that!! We don't have to do this, you know!"
Miaka: "Fine!! I'll do it!!"
Tamahome: "Ohmigod! Don't look! Don't look!"
Tasuki: "Okay, but she shoulda come clean up front!! Right, Tama - Oh, crap! Tamahome's gone bye-bye."
Tasuki: "She's got little girlie legs. She ain't goin' far."
Nakago: "Are you playing Hide and Seek?"
Reporter: "Then did you and Nuriko get it on?"
Tamahome: "Looking after that Tasuki can be quite the task! Ha ha! Get it? Get it?"
Tamahome: "So don't cry anymore. I'm here with you. even if you can't summon Suzaku... I swore that I'd be with you forever right? That I'd make you the happiest bride in the world. And I'll swear it as many times as I have to... because you... You're everything to me."
Tamahome: "Don't ever forget that with each step a person is able to take on their own, they have become that much stronger."
If I Stay by Gayle Forman Quotes:
Gramps: "It's okay. If you want to go. Everyone wants you to stay. I want you to stay more than I've ever wanted anything in my life. But that's what I want and I could see why it might not be what you want. So I just wanted to tell that I understand if you go. It's okay if you have to leave us. It's okay if you want to stop fighting."
Men are such boys.
Mia's Dad: "Sometimes you make choices in life and sometimes choices make you. Does that make any sense?"
Nurse Ramirez: "Almost don't matter. You got to deal with the situation at hand. And she's still here."
Mia: "Yeah, but now I feel like it's music that's going to pull us apart."
Mia's Mom: "That's bullshit. Music can't do that. Life might take you down different roads. But each of you gets to decide which one to take."
Mia's Mom: "I don't know. But I do know that if you want to stay and be with him, I'd support that, though maybe I'm only saying that because I don't think you'd be able to turn down Juilliard. But I'd understand if you chose love, Adam love, over music love. Either way, you win. And either way, you lose. What can I tell you? Love's a bitch."
Mia: "I might not get in. I might wind up at school here, with you. In a way, I hope I don't get accepted so I don't have to choose."
Adam: "If you get in, the choice is already made, isn't it? I don't want to be the guy who doesn't want you to go. If the tables were turned, you'd let me go."
Mia: "I kind of already have. In a way, you're already gone. To your own Juilliard."
Adam: "I know. But I'm still here. And I'm still crazy in love with you."
Mia: "Me, too."
Kim: "I do have a point to all this. There are like twenty people in that waiting room right now. Some of them are related to you. Some of them are not. But we're all your family. You still have a family."
Forever by Maggie Stiefvater Quotes:
Cole St. Clair: Voicemail #3: "I'm bored. I need to be entertained. Sam is moping. I may kill him with his own guitar. It would give me something to do and also make him say something. Two birds with one stone! I find all these old expressions unnecessarily violent. Like, Ring Around The Rosy. That's about the plague, did you know? Of course you did. The plague is, like, your older cousin. Hey, does Sam talk to you? He says jack shit to me. God, I'm bored. Call me."
Cole: 'There was nothing wrong with life that some wire cutters couldn't fix.'
Sam: 'The closest neighbors were acres away, so they were spared the symptoms of the disease that was Cole St. Clair.'
Sam: 'I was trying to decide if you still had free will as a wolf. If I was a terrible person for planning to drug my girlfriend and drag her back to my house to keep in the basement.'
Sam: 'Ulrik called Beck a wichser and left with the dog. Beck told me not to say wichser because it was what ignorant German men said when they knew they were wrong, and a few hours later, Ulrik returned, sans Chauffeur. I never did sit on that side of the couch again.'
Sam: 'She sounded pissed, which I was beginning to realize meant that she actually cared.'
Isabel: "Next time, kill yourself outside. Less cleanup for Sam."
Isabel: 'But right now, a screaming match with a cop felt just about right for my current state of mind.'
Not much later:
Isabel: 'Suddenly a screaming match with a cop didn't feel like such a brilliant idea.'
Sam: 'Chat. I had a special brand of hatred for the phone as a chatting medium. It didn't allow for spaces or silences or breaths. It was speaking or nothing, and that felt unnatural to me.'
Sam: "He's got a lot to work though. He's not good for anyone, Isabel."
Isabel: "Neither were you."
Cole: 'Back on the planet called new York, my father, Dr. George St. Clair, MD, PhD, Mensa, Inc., was a fan of the scientific process. He was a good mad scientist. He cared about the why. He cared about the how. Even when he didn't care about what it was doing to the subject, he cared about how you could state the formula to replicate the experiment. Me, I cared about results. I also cared, very deeply, about not being like my father in any way. In fact, most of my life decisions were based around the philosophy of not being Dr. George St. Clair.'
Cole: "Nice touch, emo-boy."
""Poor bastards," Cole said, his gaze still on the stars. "They must get pretty tired of watching us make the same damn mistakes all the time.""
Sam: "Sorry for hurting you, she said right in my ear, but it wasn't really an apology, because you don't bite someone's earlobe to tell them you're sorry."
Cole: "This is where the magic happens. Are you going to put on your leotard now?"
Sam: "My leotard?"
Cole: Yeah, your superhero shit. Sam Roth, werewolf by night, book retail specialist by day. Don't you need a cape for that?"
Sam: "Yes. Literacy rates in this country's appalling; you need a cape to even sell a cookbook. You're going to stay in the back if someone comes in, right?"
Sam: "Nobody ever sees this part. It doesn't matter if it's pretty."
Cole: "So it's like track six on an album. So what's the plan, Stan?"
Sam: "Plan? I have to work until noon. Isabel is supposed to come by sometime before then to tell me what she's found out since last night. Then, maybe, I'll put a bag on your head and we'll get lunch."
Sam: "Don't burn anything down!"
Isabel: "I'm not playing mind games with you."
Cole: "Would you play mind games with Sam?"
Isabel: "God, could you be any more insecure?"
Cole: 'The answer to that question was always yes, but I didn't appreciate her bringing up my less public vices.'
Isebel: "Oh. Are you serious? Still? The calls? Come on, Cole. I wasn't going to do that with you. You're toxic."
Cole: "Toxic?" 'I echoed. Actually, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't flattered. There was a strength to that words that was tempting. Toxic.' "Yes, toxicity. It's one of my finer features. Is this because I didn't sleep with you? Funny, normally girls yell at me because I did screw them."
Isabel: 'The problem with Cole St. Clair is that you could believe everything he said, and, also, you couldn't believe anything he said. Because he was just so grandiose that it was easy to accomplish the impossible. But he was also such an incredible dirtbag that you couldn't really trust a single thing he said, either. The problem was that I wanted to believe him.'
Tom Culpeper: "People don't change who they are. They only change what they do with it."
Cole: "Bad news, Ringo. We're going to die."
Sam: "How many of those things do you have?"
Cole: "Five. Ish."
Cole: "I'm making one for Tom Culpeper next."
Sam: 'I couldn't say I disagreed.'
Cole: "What are you doing, Ringo?"
Sam: "I thought I smelled..."
Cole: "The white wolf? The pissy one?"
Cole: "Sam Roth, you bastard."
Sam: 'There as admiration in his voice, which probably meant I'd made a poor decision.'
Cole: 'It seemed like the best weapons in my life had always been the most innocuous: empty pastic bins, a blank CD, an unmarked syringe, my smile in a dark room.'
Cole: "Save your kraut poetry for Grace. You're getting your weird all over me."
Sam: "I'm serious."
Cole: "I'm serious, too. Even cured, you're incredibly abnormal."
Sam: "Take the apology, Cole, and I won't say anything about it again."
Cole: "Fine. Apology accepted. In your defense, I didn't really deserve fair."
Sam: "It's not the way I was brought up. People shouldn't have to earn kindness. They should have to earn cruelty."
Cole: 'I had never really considered that it was a privilege to die as Cole and not as something else.'
Isabel: "Do that again and I will sell your first-born to the devil."
Grace: 'What it came down to was this: I was a girl who turned into a wolf, and I had almost died, and the thing that was going to bother me the most all day was that I was going to have to go around without a bra.'
Cole: "I like you. You can stay."
Isabel: "Mom, you're the one who said to never stop in case I get raped or picked up by a Democrat."
Mrs. Culpeper: "I never said that. That sounds like your father. I would've said Libertarian."
Isabel: "Well, some people see what they want to see."
Sam: 'And then I did laugh, even though the future was a dangerous place, because I loved her, and she loved me, and the world was beautiful and awash with pink light around us.'
Beck: "Because into every life, a little rain must fall."
Paul: "Because, into every song, we must have a minor bridge."
Grace: 'Surely careless rock stars didn't have to work at looking like careless rock stars.'
Cole: "I can't believe there was another car here all along and you didn't tell me."
Sam: "For crying out loud, it's a raccoon."
Grace: "Poor thing."
Cole: "It could be a rabid baby-killer."
Sam: 'Everyone harbored the secret fantasy that everyone who was friends with them would also be friends with each other.'
Cole: "Come on, you bastard. I was having an excellent dream."
Grace: "Should I be on the other side with something else?"
Sam: "A knife is a bit excessive. There's a push broom over there."
Cole: "I hate raccoons. This is why your idea of moving the wolves is somewhat problematic, Grace."
Grace: "I hardly find this to be an apt comparison."
Cole: Wonderingly at raccoon "Why, you dumb bastard."
Grace: "The door is right there, it's the entire wall."
Cole: "This is the reason raccoons don't take over the planet."
Sam: "This is the reason we keep getting shot at."
Grace: "No complicated logic."
Sam: "No spatial sense. Wolves have plenty of complicated logic. Just no human logic. No spatial sense. No sense of time. No sense of boundaries. Boundary Wood is too small for us."
Grace: "So we move the wolves someplace better. Someplace with better human-to-acre ratio. Someplace with fewer Tom Culpepers."
Sam and Cole: "There are always Tom Culpepers."
Grace: "He didn't really hit him, though, right? I mean, you just mean that he..."
Cole: "No, he whaled him."
Grace: "So Sam's not cured, either?"
Cole: "Well, I don't know about that. After all, he made himse--Oh, look, here's miracle boy now. Good morning, Ringo."
Cole: "It's like drawing a picture of an elephant from the sound it makes in the next cage over."
Sam: "Well, I'm impressed you even figured out it was an elephant."
Sam: "Do what you want with your own body, but I'm not going to mess with someone who can't give me his consent."
Cole: "It's adrenaline, not prom sex."
Grace: "Cole, Beck means everything to him. This isn't a game. Don't do anything you aren't sure of, okay?"
Cole: "I'm always sure of what I do. Sometimes I was just never sure there was supposed to be a happy ending."
Grace: "Oh, nice."
Sam: "I think she's getting worse."
Cole: "She is psychotic."
Grace: "What do you mean?"
Cole: "I've seen her about when I do the traps. She's brave and she's mean as hell."
Cole: "Clear off, you psychotic bitch!"
Grace: "Thanks, Cole. That was incredibly subtle."
Cole: "That is one of my finer traits."
Sam: 'I'd told her I wanted to do it right with her, and I still did.'
Sam: 'I didn't understand how someone could be both God and the devil. How the same person could destroy you and save you. When everything I was, good and bad, was knotted with threads of his making, how was I supposed to know whether to love or hate him?'
Isabel: "Is that you in the perv-mobile?"
Cole: "Beck moved the wolves once before. I want to ask him about it."
Isabel: "And a fishing net, some hardware, and drugs will help you do that?"
Cole: "If not, it's all the makings of a very good time."
Isabel: "Cole, do you think I'm lovable?"
Cole: "As in 'cuddly and'?"
Isabel: "As in 'able to be loved'."
Cole: "Maybe. But you won't let anybody try."
Isabel: "I can't tell the difference between not fighting and giving up."
Cole: "That's how I would kiss you, if I loved you."
Jeremy: "Here's what I know about Cole. Cole's religion is debunking the impossible. He doesn't believe in impossible. He doesn't believe in no. Cole's religion is waiting for someone to tell him it can't be done so he can do it. Anything. Doesn't matter what that something is, so long as it can't be done. Here's an origin story for you. In the beginning of time there was an ocean and a void and God made the ocean into the world and he made the void into Cole."
Tom Culpeper: "You really are completely gorked, aren't you? Word for the wise: Try the insanity plea. God bless America, Beck always has liked them cracked."
Isabel: "Only you would be concerned about finishing high school while you're turning into another species in your spare time. It's slightly refreshing to see that some things never change. Geek. Nerd. teacher's pet. Oh -- pet -- that has become funny now that you grow fur."
New Girl Quotes:
Jess: "I got laid off."
Nick: "Are you serious?"
Nick: "Sure, I could get a girl drunk and topless with only some crushed ice, a hollowed out papaya, and two fingers of rum. But then I grew up, and now I only want to make a drink that a coal miner would want. Straightforward, honest. Something that says, “I work in a hole”."
Bearclaw: "If we make love later, and I tell you to pretend that I’m a scary ghost, are you gonna be weirded out by that?"
Jess: "I had the best sex of my life last night."
Nick: "Oh so that was you? I thought it was a couple bums fighting."
Jess: "It wasn’t. It was me. Having sex. I left my body, went up to heaven, saw my grandparents, thought it was weird that I saw my grandparents, came back down. I became a werewolf, I scared some teenagers. I came back into my body. Only thing is, he thinks my name is Katie and that I’m a dancer and/or something involving puppets."

Schmidt: "Are you cooking a fritatta in a sauce pan? What is this, prison?"
Nick: "You wear a cardigan, on top of another cardigan."
Jess: "Is there a hot way of saying “I don’t feel sexy after I've had a lot of cheese”?"
Jess (to her new roommates): "Full disclosure: I'm kind of emotional right now, 'cause of the breakup, so I'll probably be watching Dirty Dancing like six or seven times... a day."
Schmidt: "Hey, Jess, how you doing? You look fantastic. Listen, what if you came out with us tonight you know, after work. We'll fix you up, we'll take you out, we'll get you a rebound."
Jess: "A Rebound?"
Jess: "I don't know if I'm ready."
Schmidt: "You're totally ready for it. I'll take you through the whole thing. I'll be like your guide."
Jess: "Like Gandolf through Middle Earth?"
Schimidt: "Probably not like -- OK -- First of all, let's take the Lord of the Rings references and put them in a deep, dark cave, where no one's gonna find them. Ever."
Jess: "Except Smeagle. He lives in a cave."
Jess: "Two things women love: alternative percussion players and role models."
Schmidt: "Here's a tip: Don't cook Thanksgiving dinner for five people in 14 hours. Here's another tip: Don't ask a guy out for a first date on the least sexy holiday in America."
Jess: "What are the most sexy holidays?"
Schmidt: "The most sexy holidays are Fourth of July, Independence Day, Women's History Month, and Christmas."
Jess: "I need your help. I don’t know what to do. I’m terrible at casual sex. I left him in there with crayons and paper like he’s a kid in a restaurant and I told him I had to check my fantasy football.”
Nick: "You don’t even know what that is.”
Jess: "No sir, I do not know what that is. I panicked, help me.”
Jess: "I deserve to have a shorty on the side.”
Nick: "Yeah, shorty’s not… that’s the wrong use of shorty.“

Sarah: "Nick is so, so, so hot! I want to rub my face on his face!"
Schmidt: "An Indian-Jewish baby? Who wouldn't want that? Think about the bone structure!"
Jess: "Actually, I don't trust what "cool" means to all of you, so how about just "be normal"."

CeCe: "The only way to get through it is to get through it."

Jess: "What is the big deal? Let's just suck it up and French a little."

Nick: "Let the Decider decide! I am not the Suggester!"
Schmidt: "There's a fine line between sexual harassment and something awesome."
Winston: "There's nothing like the feel of a fire, a fresh baked cookie and the sweet, sweet taste of crack in your lungs."

Nick: "You're the deer! He wants to kill you! You're the deer!"

Schmidt: "I wanna be the black friend you never had."

Schmidt: "If you track my trajectory I'm gonna live to a 123 years old. Hello, Robot Sex."
Jess: "What's going on? Did you guys watch porn together again? Why do you keep doing that? It's always awkward!"
Winston: "Somehow, I got on that woman's cycle of menstruation. And I got that menstruation inside of me!"
Jess: "Nick, I need you."
Schmidt: "Hey, M. Night Shyamalan. I've got a twist ending for you: shut up."
Nick's Mom: "I miss him, Nicky. That bastard was a saint. A saint -- the bastard."
Jess: "No! I can't call Spencer! I haven't talked to him since he cheated on me with that ho! Actually, that's not fair. She might be a really nice ho."
Jess: "Cece's really vulnerable right now. When she's drunk, she has no boundaries. She's really grabby, really physical, she's really loose with her body. So I just wanna apologize in advance for anything she might do."
Nick: "If I had a dollar for every person I couldn't hang out with because they hate Schmidt, I'd be rich. Like fill my gas tank up all the way rich."
Schmidt: "He's a player. Why would a good looking person ever become a doctor?"
Jess: "I saw Nick's pipi. And his bubbles."
Schmidt: "I have a really bad case of Santa Lap. The entire marketing department is wearing wool. It's not good down there."

Jess: "He's talking to a woman with a sexuality I won't jump to conclusions about."
Schmidt: "Please take that off, you look like a homeless pencil."
Jess: "Do you remember when you got yourself off to An Inconvenient Truth? Or dressed up as Shia LaBeouf from Wall Street 2? Or said that jazz music was America's greatest mistake?"
Nick: "I've never been an inspiration before... I don't like this much responsibility."
Winston: "Schmidt, I have to breathe because I am coaching you and also for regular life reasons."
Schmidt: "Winston, you better watch it, man, because I will take you down. I had figure skating lessons until I was 13, and then my mom sobered up and realized I was a boy. Let's do this!"
CeCe: "Come on, Schmidt! I can't be the first woman who's ashamed to be with you."
Jess: "So head's up, Paul's coming tonight. And I just wanted to tell you that I'm gonna tap him like a maple tree. I'm gonna search him for some syrups. I'm gonna be having sex with him."
Schmidt: "So what I need you to do is this: I need you to put vodka in a water bottle, ok? Then rendezvous with me in the restroom."
Nick: "I'm the guy who just can't jump into something if I don't know what's gonna happen. I've just never been that guy. I'm the guy that if I don't know what's gonna happen, I don't do something. Ever. I don't care how badly I want to do it. Like, if everyone went down to the beach and jumped into the water, I'm the guy guarding the wallets."
Schmidt: "Without sex, she's not your girlfriend. She's a friend you buy meals for."
CeCe: "I wish there was a word that meant complete satisfaction and complete self loathing."
Nick: "No part of this conversation is making me wanna boil over with rage."
Schmidt: "This is a horrible neighborhood. There are youths everywhere!"
Jess: "I feel like I wanna murder someone and also I want soft pretzels."
Nick: "Any time a man wants to show a woman how to do something from behind it's just because he wants an excuse to get real close and breathe on her neck. Watch any sports movie."
Nick: "I'm very poor. Having a checking account would be an honor. I've written a zombie book. It's terrible. I'm a slow runner. I'm obsessed with karate."
Winston: "Nick, we will talk about this in the morning. But, first, I'm gonna go do stuff with a girl."
Schmidt: "Jess, you can't laugh at a naked man. And especially Nick. Nick is delicate. Like a a chubby, damaged flower who hates himself."
Bob: "It's alright. I'll spend my holiday at a Los Angeles coffee shop, sitting around with people who have nothing better to do on Thanksgiving than work on their screenplay. I probably won't want to blow my head off."
Schmidt: "Can someone please get my towel? It's in my room next to my Irish walking cape!"
Jess: "I was sabotaged by my baby box, which means I will never trust anything that comes out of it."
Schmidt: "We sold our qualms. We used the profits to buy perfect bodies."
Nick: "I want friends who still lie to me because they don't want to hurt my feelings. I sadly kind of mean that."
Jess: "No! PMS is mine! Stop stealing my stuff, Winston!"
Schmidt: "Guess whose personalized condoms just arrived!"
Nick: "What are you going to do for 20 minutes of foreplay? Boring! Yawn! Am I right, ladies?"
Nick: "Yeah, I put your couch and your freezer in your room. I didn't want to get my poor on them."
Winston: "Or we could break into a zoo, steal a bear, then we shoot the bear full of Hep C, we release that bear in the restaurant right as they're about to order dessert."
Nick: "Schmidt's world is different than ours. They speak a different language. They shorten every word to one syllable. Last month, he went to a party called "Bros Before Hos on the Moon". What does that even mean!?"
Jess: "If any of you cross me, I'm gonna kick the testicles clean off your bodies! Clean off! You'll look like Ken dolls down there!"
Schmidt: "I can't believe I have to have feelings to have good sex. I thought I'd be dead before that happened."
Nick: "I can't believe I'm the sober one. That's actually never happened before in my life."
Jess: "I saw him this morning and he just panic moonwalked away from me."
Schmidt: "It's our thing, Jess. Dudesgiving."
Nick: "Okay no matter how many emails you send, that's not real."
Schmidt: "It's real, man!"
Nick: "It's not real! We're not calling it that."
Schmidt: "I don't know what is allowed in the cold-hearted Republic of Nick Miller, but I do know how I feel. And I know how much you love cookies. And I saw it there behind the glass and thought, "Nick Miller. I'm gonna buy that, man.""
Nick: "If I could give you that cookie back, I would. Nothing would make me happier than to throw it up, mash it into cookie shape, and shove it down your throat."
Schmidt: "You want to mama-bird me the cookie?"
Nick: "That's not what I-"
Schmidt: "You want to mama-bird me the cookie. You're not mama-birdin' anybody anything!"
Jess: "No! He's here early, how do I look?"
Schmidt: "It's better if you don't know."
Remy: [to Nick] "You get to be the underpants captain tonight."
Jess: "Great choice, Remy. Nick will make a great underpants captain."
Winston: "So nice to meet you, Mr. Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Can I sit on your shoulders?"
Schmidt: "Your friendship means nothing to me. Every man for himself!"
Winston: "They call me Prank Sinatra!"
Nick: "No, you call you Prank Sinatra!"
Cece: "You look like a character from The Love Guru."
Schmidt: "Aw, thank you."
Nick: "In March, I will have been living with Schmidt for 10 years. I know that because he sent me an e-mail asking how I want to celebrate our tin anniversary."
Jess: "How did you become friends? Was it an accident? Did you hit him with your car and you became his reluctant caretaker?"
Nick: "Schmidt, I have to ask you a favor. It's about my clothes."
Schmidt: "Burn them! Burn them all!"
Schmidt: "Would I have to put my legs in the stirrups
Melissa: "Why would you even ask that?"
Schmidt: "I'm asking more so out of curiosity than fear. Hashtag, excitement."
Nick's Mom: "Keep it light, keep it happy. Don't mention the felony thing. Or Paraguay. Or the storage space."
Winston: "Hey, Schmidt, look -- it's a menorah for you!"
Schmidt: "Ohhhh, a menorah... [in a gangsta tone] Judaism, son."
Jess: "Why do we care about a crescent moon?"
Winston: "I don't know, but I'm gonna live there some day."
Schmidt: "You like me? You like my personality?"
CeCe: "I was surprised, too."
Nick: "I was sixteen! I have gotten a lot better!"
Schmidt: "You haven't gotten that much better. I used to listen to you and Caroline all the time when we were in college. It was like listening to a rescue crew trying to communicate with a stranded minor. "Are you ok? Yea. Are you ok? Yea"."
Jess: "So Coach said they used to play basketball in college, but then Winston went pro?"
Schmidt: "In Latvia, okay? He went pro in Latvia. It's a big difference. The team logo is a fig. Just one single fig!"
Nick: "I don't know what "mazel tov" means, but it doesn't sound good."
Jess: "I messed up. He ran away, he got scared."
Winston: "Why would he get scared?"
Jess: "Because I choked him. I lightly choked him."
Jess: "Are you okay
Nick: "No, I'm not okay, Jess! I'm not okay! I woke up today, and I wanted to play a friendly game of touch football, then I hurt my back, and I went to your gynecologist, and now I might have cancer!"
Schmidt: "It'll be a good opportunity for you to do some networking, help with the job search. I'm telling you, everybody's hittin' the 'nog, having a good time, letting loose, you swoop in there, and then, boom! New job, man. That's how things work. You know, Benjamins in your pocket, la pension, the four-to-the-O-to-the-one-to-the-K!"
Winston: "You're making me want to stay broke."
Jess: "Just remember, you caught him pleasuring himself to a mail-order steak catalog."
CeCe: "Make sure you use protection."
Schmidt: "CeCe, she's a foreigner. What do you think I am? An idiot?"
Nick: "Has Jess not talked to you?"
Paul: "Oh yeah, we've talked."
Nick: "It's hard, it's really tricky. It's like, she's doesn't love you right, Paul that's not to say she might not fall in love with you later."
Paul: "We talked about how we might have to drive you to the airport cause you're gonna miss your flight."
Nick: "Yeah, that's probably all you talked about so I'm joking."
Waitress: "You're all on a date?"
Nick: "Yeah, we're her boyfriends. We're reverse Mormons -- one guy just isn't enough for her."
Schmidt: "I'm gonna have sex tonight. Are you two in?"
Winston: "Is that the way you wanted to say that?"
Nick: "Hey, do you think Jess would be mad if I got a turtle and named it Jess — even though I had that name picked out before she moved in?"
Schmidt: "A turtle?"
Nick: "Thinkin' man's best friend, Schmidt-y."
Schmidt: "In our home? Over my turtle disease-ridden dead body."
Nick: "I could pretend to be more like you, Jess, and live on a sparkly rainbow and drive a unicorn around and just sing all the time."
Jess: "My initial thought was to get him a gift certificate for piping hot sex. But I don't want him to think I'm using him for his body."
Nick: "Oh, I'm sure he'd be ok with that."
Schmidt: "Don't laugh when they call him "responsible," they don't know why it's hilarious."
Jess: "When I hear all the stuff about Cece's profession, like the dieting, it's crazy. And the butt-drinking..."
Nick: "Did you just say "butt-drinking?" You can't say "butt-drinking" and not explain what it is. That's two of my four favorite things."
Schmidt: "Coincidentally, I'm wearing my lap dance pants!"
Jess: "Nick, put on some pants or at least some really high socks."
Nick: "Really high socks it is then!"
Kim: "Does that mean no more sexy Easter bunny?"
Schmidt: "No sexy Easter bunny."
Kim: "What about cinco de Sexy?"
Schmidt: "No cinco de Sexy."
Kim: "And no sexy Martin Luther King?"
Schmidt: "I can never get the voice. I never felt I had the authority."
Jess: "Pink wine makes me slutty."
Schmidt: "We can form an Ocean's Twelve. I will be Brad Pitt. You will be the crafty Asian who does the flippies."
Jess: "I just want to warn you guys that my mom's a little bit perky."
Winston: "Wait, you think she's perky?"
Jess: "Well, she doesn't have my dark side. I got that from my dad."
Jess: "I didn't really know your dad, except for that one hour when I committed fraud with him."
Nick: "That's all there is to know."
Nick: "I'm fantastic at sex!"
Winston: "You're scared to get a haircut!"
Nick: "Yeah, I don't like getting a haircut, it's too intimate. What does that have to do with sex?"
Nadia: "Jew in the couch!"
CeCe: "Nadia, American manners!"
Nadia: "Sorry. Jew person in couch."
Schmidt: "She's not wrong."
Nick: "I'm just trying to figure out the level of Elvis impersonator we can afford. I think a white one is out of reach."
Jess: "You care about burritos more than my children?"
Nick: "You're putting me in a tough spot right now!"
Winston: "Where are your eyes?"
Students: "On the tiger."
Jess: "$550 for the TV?! Seems a little steep. I'm gonna write down a figure, and this is as high as I'll go."
Pawnshop dude: "You drew a smiley face."
Nick: "They threw in something called 'septic enzymes,' which I don't know what they are but you are definitely not supposed to get them in your eyes."
Winston: "Eye of the Tiger ended the cold war."
Jess: "That's not even a little bit true."
Schmidt: "My face touched the mustache of a corpse today, Bobby. I'm not afraid of you."
Schmidt: "Everybody hates the Jews! Your mom's in the majority! I'll convert to Indianism!"
Schmidt: "I don't really know what that accent is."
Schmidt: "I speak English. That isn't English."
Jess: "You question my pajamas you make me question our entire friendship!"
Nick: "Unlike you Schmidt, I don't just throw my money at problems
Schmidt: "All I'm hearing is I can't use my bathroom because you're poor."
Nick: "I don't have a vagina."
Patient: "You can take mine."
Jess: "I heard that, sister."
Patient: "True that."
Cece: "I really felt that Gavin was different. Didn't you feel like Gavin was different
Jess: "Yeah, I mean he seemed like a really nice... European DJ with a face tattoo."
Russell: "When I was your age I had a skinny ponytail and I think I was living off of selling my own blood."
Nick: "So what happened? You just woke up one day and had all this?"
Russell: "I realized I wanted to grow up, that's what happened."
Schmidt: "Destiny might be a lady, but victory has a penis."
Prostitute: "Aren't you a virgin, too?"
Winston: "Just my penis, baby. Just my penis."
Schmidt: "Here are some things you want to hide about yourself on tonight's date: you're cheap, you're a heavy drinker, you're broke, you have a problem with anger."
Winston: "Your car is horrible."
Winston: "I'm gonna be strong for you, man. You know, I really did love Walt."
Nick: "He was my dad, Winston."
Winston: "Yeah, but he loved me more than he loved you. He told me that."
Nick: "Yeah, he told me that too, actually."
Schmidt: "Does it say "share stuff" in the Constitution of America? No, it does not. Nicholas, what does it say?"
Nick: "Don't share stuff."
Jess: "Believe it or not, that's not the first time someone's broken my feeling stick. I have a travel size."
Schmidt: "A pogo is what your friends talk about when you leave the room."
Cece: "Oh like your barnacle toenails?"
Jess: "I have to go out tonight, 'cause I'm feeling pretty twirly."
Schmidt: "Twirly? Is that like horny?"
Jess: "I've got the dirty twirlies, Schmitdy!"
Winston: "What is between you and that chair?"
Schmidt: "Just a little bit of sunshine."
Jess: "Do you want to know what I'm wearing under this shirt?"
Nick: "Yeah, sure."
Jess: "An invisible shirt."
Jess: "So, would you like to freak?"
Jess: "I am throwing Cece's surprise bachelorette party here tonight, and the only males invited are strippers, so oil up or get out, guys."
Alvin: "The man with no shirt killed Santa."
Winston: "Oh, you mean Schmidt? He was just dressing up like Santa."
Alvin: "Then why isn't he wearing a shirt?"
Winston: "You know, we ask ourselves that question every single day."
Alvin: "Is it because he's a d-bag? Mommy says he's a d-bag."
Schmidt: "A tuxedo is different from a suit."
Nick: "It is?!"
Jess: (about Winston) "I'm so excited to meet him!"
Nick: "No, Jess, he's sleeping. He flew in late last night, we took him straight to the bar, took a bunch of shots, got drunk, screamed "I love America," now he's happily passed out."
CeCe: "If someone catches us, then I'm going to say that you're drugging me, and it's my word against yours."
Schmidt: "Okay, yeah, that makes sense."
Sarah: "Have you ever given anyone a plow job?"
Jess: "I don't know... do you want to learn how to play Bridge?"
Skylar: "Do you know how to make drinks?"
Nick: "Do I know how to make drinks?"
Skylar: "Yeah, like alcoholic drinks?"
Nick: "Yeah, I do that professionally."
Skylar: "You could get me drunk professionally?"
Girl in Jess' class: "He was a merman. He was the last of his kind and he needed a mother for his merchild. He was not a mergentleman."
Cece: "I'm still marrying an Indian guy."
Schmidt: "Sure, but you went home with a Jew in a turban. I'm just saying."
CeCe: "Guys are always just showing me off, and I hate it."
Schmidt: "I want to tell people about us because I think you are the dopest, flyest, smartest, ballsiest woman that I've sexually enjoyed in really long time."
Schmidt: "They make shoes for your penis! They're called pants!"
Schmidt: "You consider me a sexy man, correct?"
Jess: "I don't know how to answer that question."
Jess: "When did you become a Bond villain who can't afford to not live with roommates?"
Jess: "If somebody walked in here and saw us, they'd be like, "Look at these two totally normal roommates. I bet they never sucked face." But we did. You sucked my face."
Cece: "The guy who got me this told me he could also get me a box of dolphin steaks or a "mostly white" baby."
Schmidt: "Maybe none of us should go to this funeral. The early buzz on this thing is it's gonna be a real drag."
