Hello Fanfiction.net patrons! Welcome to my page! Do you want to hear boring, mundane, totally pointless facts about me that you will forget as soon as you leave this page? Of course not!
So moving past that..
I read/write/review fanfiction. Mostly Harry Potter but I have read a smidge of Alex Rider, Dr. Who, yadda yadda, etc etc.
I am a budding author, but have yet to find the courage to post my other stories. Sorry to the one person I have waiting for me to update the story I did post... It's not a top priority.
HOWEVER... I have begun to post a story I've been dabbling with for a while. I have a few chapters written, and am hoping that having others read and critique will inspire me to continue. The second chapter of Lose Yourself in Me is up, marking this as a special day! My first multi-chaptered story has begun!
I'd like to Beta for anyone who's interested. It would be a good way to improve my writing and give me more confidence navigating the Fanfiction world. Plus I'm a grammar whiz.
ADVICE TO ALL WRITERS...
Here are some things you should know that just make you look dumb... NO ONE reads stories that:
-Include, in the summary, a reassurance that the story is better than the summary. Honestly. If you can't write a compelling- what, one? two sentences tops?- then you obviously can't write anything longer than that.
-Include, in the summary, a short statement claiming that "The summary sucks". Is this supposed to make me think, "OHHhh. Well, at least he/she knows that I wasn't impressed with his/her crappy summary." NO. I skip it because the author clearly can't write anything compelling enough to bother with.
-Include, in the summary, "Just another (insert commonly written about topic) story. Give it a try." PASS
-Have horrible grammar and spelling.
-Spell main characters in the book/Movie/Television show wrong. I can't tell you how many times I have skipped stories as soon as I see, "And Sirious/Serious/Serius pointed his wand at the Lilly's Slytherian/Slitherin/Slytheren best friend just as Mcgonogle/McGognole/McGonnagle turned the corner." C'mon, people. Fanfiction is for fans.
Have ridiculous authors who post Author's notes to the reader instead of chapters. I would really prefer that you wait a month to update your story without me knowing the reason rather than get an email from it, expecting a new chapter, and it's just you rambling on about how sorry you are that you won't be able to update. I understand! You have a life outside of this website! It's fine, just don't tell me about it unless you are going to let me read something after!
two birds, one stone
-Can't describe their characters in their own words so they have to reference something else Have ridiculous authors who post author's notes inside the story! I did NOT view this story so that I could read your running commentary! "She changed out of her quidditch gear and put on some jeans and a cute pink sweater (AN-think Hermione, but girlier).
With that, I leave you good patrons of Fanfiction.net.
