My name is Elladora, I'm currently sixteen and I really like to write HP fanfics.
I do tend to lean towards Slash because, even though some authors completely kill off the boys' characters, you just can't hate them. Whereas girls, more often than not, turn out to be nauseating, irritating and completely intolerable (Mary Sues, is what I'm getting at here). There are simply too many Mary Sues so I've pretty much sworn off of Het unless a particularly bold summary piques my fancy. And let's face it...Harry/Hermione, Harry/Cho and the epilogue pairings; Scorpius/Rose and Scorpius/Lily just aren't doing it for me.
My favourite Slash pairings are:
Tom Riddle/Harry (trust me when I say that LV/HP and TM/HP are not the same! ^^)
My favourite Het pairings (or at least the ones I tolerate) are:
Harry/Fleur (I'm currently hooked on this pairing at the moment.)
My least favourite Slash pairings are:
Ron/Harry (I don't know...something about this pairing just disgusts me...)
Cedric/Harry (I don't know enough about his character and it doesn't help that the boy who played him in the movies is now Edward Cullen - ugh!)
Fred/George/Harry (Most people think it's cute but it kind of creeps me out. I don't hate the twins or anything and I do like a little Gred/Forge love every now and again, but with Harry it just becomes awkward)
My least favourite Het pairings are:
Harry/Ginny (BIGGEST MISTAKE JK ever made, honestly it was. I understand that she wanted to give Harry the life, love and companionship he lacked during his childhood, but the pairing literally came out of nowhere! It's like he woke up one morning and decided that he loved the little ginger fangirl who followed him around on occasion and basically served as a more docile, poor Lily Evans. Aside from that, relationships from high school almost never work out. And what happened to the bro code man! The BRO CODE! Don't date your best mate's sister! :|)
Harry/Cho (Never did it for me. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that, beneath her soft looks and mournful tears, she was manipulative.)
Draco/Ginny (I never understood this pairing and I never will. Ginny is a broke blood-traitor and yet I see so many authors shamelessly twist Draco's personality so that they can be together. For shame...)
Draco/Hermione (Same thing as the above comment only instead of being a broke blood-traitor, she's a middle-class MUDBLOOD know-it-all who would drive Draco up the wall within the space of five minutes!)
In fact, basically all HET pairing having to do with Cho, Ginny or Hermione squicks me; other than the canon Ron/Hermione and my hopeful wish for the continued Dean/Ginny - they deserve each other. I don't mean for that to sound sweet since they're both morons.
