lol all this writing kinda sucks a lot dont read it thx im working on it tho when i can be bothered to actually write something

A bunch of questions I saw on only-the-sassiest’s profile that I think are originally from RandomVictorian that are really hardcore and I thought I would answer because I’m bored and procrastinating.

1. What are your nicknames? What do you prefer to be called?

Well, my friends give the weirdest nicknames to everyone. I’ve got about ten they’ve appointed to me. Including ‘the soulless one’. Yeah, I don’t know either.

2. What books on your shelf are begging to be read?

All of them. From Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Book Thief (for the tenth time...) and back again. I wish I could read them all at once.

3. How often do you doodle? What do your doodles look like?

All the time. Usually creepy monsters that I make up, or steal from Doctor Who.

4. What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep? Toss and Turn? Try to get up and do something productive?

I can never sleep at night. Usually I’ll get up and do something productive…who am I kidding. I’ll just tire myself out watching movies on my laptop or reading.

5. How many days could you last in solitary confinement? How would you do it?

I’m alone a lot, that’s true. And I like being alone. But if I am for too long, then I’ll go crazy. It’s happened before. Not pretty. I could last probably two or three days, tops.

6. Do you save old greeting cards and letters? Throw them away?

I try to. I have cards from my first birthday stashed away in a drawer somewhere. I don’t know why I keep them, usually they’re all from the same people with the same messages. But there is something that always stops me getting rid of them. I can’t explain all my actions away.

7. Who is the biggest pack rat you know?

Not me, that’s for sure.

8. When making an entrance in to a party, do you make your presence known? Do you slip in and look for someone you know? Do you sneak in quietly and find a safe spot to roost?

Eek. Usually I’ll creep around the corners and try not to attract attention, looking out for my friends. I don’t pretend to be adept at social situations.

9. What is your strongest sense? If you had to give one up, which would it be?

Probably hearing. I’m a musician kinda girl, and my eyesight is atrocious. If I had to give one up…it would be…wow that’s hard. If I couldn’t touch, I would barely be able to pick things, or sense heat or pain. If I couldn’t smell, I’d miss the cloaking scent of approaching rain, the sweet sharp tang of roses, the musky aroma of an old forgotten book. If I couldn’t taste, well, I love food. I would have to give up…smell. And then cry.

10. How many times a day do you look at yourself in the mirror?

The problem with me is that I simultaneously do not care that much about how other people judge my appearance and am extremely self-conscious. Probably about three times every day.

11. What is the strangest thing you believed as a child?

You want the true answer? Well, I guess this quiz calls for honesty. When I was a child, I believed with all my heart and soul that this world was good and vast and fair. That was what I clung to. Now it makes me want to cry. look i said it yay for me

12. What is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up?

Chocolate in general. OF course.

13. Who performs the most random acts of kindness out of everyone you know?

I don’t know. I truly don’t. Nowadays, it is hard to see what is done out of selflessness and kindness. I mean, you may have given those ten dollars to charity, but who are you really appeasing? Your own thoughts, your own morality, your own self-worth? If I had to say a person, it would be one of my few closest friends. Because I know next to nothing about myself.

14. How often do you read the newspaper? Which paper? Which sections?

Most weekends. Usually the front news pages, a bit of politics, always the sudoku. I try to avoid the tabloids.

15. Which animals scare you most? Why?

Us. Why? Look around. Read the paper, watch the news, listen to the snippets of conversation on the train. Then tell me that human beings aren’t the scariest monsters of them all.

16. Are you more likely to avoid conflict or engage it head-on?

Avoid it. But I’m much more likely to get involved in a verbal debate than anything remotely physical or emotionally abusive.

17. What was the most recent compliment you’ve received and savoured?

I think one of my friends called me clever yesterday. I hate compliments, mostly because I can’t accept them and end up offending the person who gave them. Even though they do make me happier with myself a lot of the time.

18. What is something about yourself that you hope will change, but probably never will?

Apathy. No, not that kind of apathy. Universal apathy. Existential apathy. I find myself switching between what seems like two very different people, one who is hard-working and perseverant and ambitious, and one who finds she simply cannot engage in life. I’m empathetic to other people, but not to myself and not to this world. That probably makes very little sense.

19. Are you a creature of habit? Explain.

Only when I’m anxious, or scared, or lost.

20. Are you high maintenance? Explain.

Physically, not really. Mentally, I probably need a whole team of professional brain-janitors but I only have myself.

21. When was the last time you really pushed yourself to your physical limits?

Um…about a month ago I ran the beep test? Lol.

22. Do you have a whole lot of acquaintances or just a few very close friends? Why?

Just a few. I’m not good at making friends, but the ones I do make tend to be the right ones.

23. Are you more inclined to “build your own empire” or unleash the potential of others?

If I even had an empire waiting to be built, I have no idea what it would look like. I can see the potential of others better than I can of myself.

24. What’s a strange occurrence you’ve experienced but have never (or rarely) shared with anyone?

Depends on how you define strange. Crazy? I share those with everyone. Abnormal? That’s a different matter.

25. What do you think about more than anything else?

The futility of words to put names to my thoughts. Ha. Gotcha there, didn't I?

26. What’s something that amazes you?

27. Do you prefer that people shoot straight with you or temper their words? Why?

Shoot straight. If I suspect that someone doesn’t like me or something I’m doing, I’ll wear myself into my grave with worry.

28. Where’s your favourite place to take an out-of-town guest?

My town isn’t interesting. Or, at least, I haven’t found anything in it to be so. Except for a couple of little bookshops, but it’s only the books themselves that attract me there rather than the place.

29. What’s one thing you’d rather pay someone to do than do yourself? Why?

Talk to strangers/teachers/shopkeepers/etc. Yes, I am THAT socially inept.

30. Do you have a catchphrase?

yes but it's... *hides face* you know, sweary. I don't tend to repeat the same things often, except for curses...

31. What’s your reaction towards people who are outspoken about their beliefs? What conditions cause you to dislike or, conversely, enjoy talking with them?

I like people with strong morals and views. Well, depending on how ignorant those views are. And in what way they deviate from mine. But I enjoying talking and understanding other people’s beliefs.

32. How and where do you prefer to study?

Studying’s an interesting task for me. I might end up sitting regally at my desk in absolute silence, or lying flat out on the floor with Muse playing loudly in the background.

33. What position do you sleep in?

Usually on my side.

34. What’s your all-time favourite town or city? Why?

I haven’t travelled much. But out of everywhere I’ve been, I really like Adelaide, Australia.

35. What are the top three qualities that draw you to someone new?

Common interests, intelligent, kind.

36. How has your birth order/characteristics of siblings affected you?

Oldest. Mostly the fact that my parents, especially my mum, treat me just the same as my younger sibling. Maybe it’s just the rebellious side of me, but I feel quite restricted sometimes.

37. If you could eliminate one weakness or limitation in your life, what would it be?

My constant doubt and uncertainty of everything.

38. If you could restore one broken relationship, which would it be?

My relationship with my parents. Both working full time since I was small. A lot of things have faded away over the years. I don’t really tell them things anymore. I rely on my friends to a much higher degree. That’s probably bad, probably selfish. I love my family, I do, but…we’re different. Wow, I'm being really honest today. That's unlike me.

39. If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?

I wouldn’t, I like my name. I couldn’t imagine myself with any other.

40. Do you believe ignorance is bliss? Why or why not?

Not for me. If I’m kept in the dark about something, I will be far, far from feeling ‘blissful’. It might work for some people, but for me ignorance is one of the most painful forms of torture.

41. What do you consider unforgivable?

Depends on the person doing the action, and depends on the person doing the forgiving. For me, I would never be able to forgive if someone I love and trust ultimately betrayed me, with no good reason or excuse for it. I don’t trust easily, and that would tear me apart.

42. Have you forgiven yourself for past personal failures? Why or why not?

I try. I definitely try. But, as I have said before, I don’t know. I may think that I’ve forgiven myself for that one failure years ago, but then it might leap out of nowhere and stab me in the heart.

43. How difficult is it for you to forgive someone who refuses to apologize?

Hard. Definitely hard. I like to help people, I like to encourage the good parts in people. I’d want them to apologise, if not for myself then for them.

you hold any convictions that you would be willing to die for?

To be honest, I don’t fear death. I don’t hold it as such a huge and permanent and frightening idea. It’s there, and it’s coming. There are many things I would brave death for.

45. To what extent do you trust people? Explain.

I find trust a concept that is very hard to understand and execute. For me, anyway. I don’t completely trust anyone, not even myself. I don’t even trust the definition of trust. In short, I am distrustful.

46. In what area of your life are you immature?

What are these measures of maturity? Who’s to say that one idea, on action, one part of my life is less wise and layered as the others? But if I had to say something, it would be my social awkwardness.

47. What was the best news you ever received?

I find that the biggest pieces of news are usually bad. The best, though? I don’t remember it.

48. How difficult is it for you to be honest, even when your words may be hurtful or unpopular?

I am not an honest person. I have perfected the art of lying. Usually for the benefit of others rather than myself, to hide my own uncertainties about others and to encourage them in ways that the world cannot. But I must admit, I'm a hider.

49. When did you immediately click with someone you just met? Why? What was the long term result? Conversely, are you close with anyone now that you really disliked at first?

Most of my now close friends I immediately ‘clicked’ with.

50. When do you find yourself singing?

When I’m happy. Not just happy, when I’m purely, joyfully, unashamedly ecstatic.
