I'm in my forties, and reading all kinds of young adult literature that wasn't available when I was... ehem... younger. I got hooked to paranormal romances before I knew, but I keep this in petit comité. Only my very best friends know about it--because I share it with them.
My favorite author of paranormal romances is Richelle Mead. She can create very appealing characters--inspired by her knowledge of religions and mythology--, put them in quite imaginative scenarios, and devise the plot in a very thorough and studied way. The suspense is guaranteed. You always want to know more, what comes next.
What I like best is her first spin-off, Bloodlines, where she explores the story of several characters from Vampire Academy, after the endo of that series. I think I like this series better than VA because of the humorous touch. Adrian's character, with all his wit and drunken/Spirit babbles, steams off the melodrama. To me, Syndrian are Peter Pan and Wendy, taken to another universe.
And yes, obviously, Peter Pan is one of my favourite books, too.
