I am a HUGE lover of Pride and Prejudice fanfic -- I don't write it, I just love to read it. I really just stumbled into fanfic completely by accident, and I'm so glad I did. I've been so pleasantly surprised at the quality of some of the writing here. There is a lot of talent out there and I am most happy to partake.
On me and my limerick fixation...
Thank y'all for your kind reviews and attention! This began as a self-indulgent word puzzle exercise and I never expected to entertain anyone but myself. I still don't know exactly where this is going, but I am pleased to have some friends along for the ride. :)
Who am I?
I'm not a writer: Even though I am indulging myself with some silly verse, writing is not my thing. But...
I am a grammar nerd: I mostly threw those verses up there so I would be able to beta (rules say I can't beta if I don't write). I would L O V E to help some of those great writers out there who are, shall we say, a little grammatically challenged. If I come across one more 'there/their/they're' I swear my head will explode! However...
My kids would say I'm just an all-around nerd: But then again, what are moms for if not to embarrass their children? (I'm feeling such a connection to Mrs. B right now) In addition to being a nerd and not a writer...
I'm a sculptor: Goofy limericks aside, there is nothing better than pounding on clay and making it look like something. Actually, my avatar is not really a pair of Chuck Taylor All-Stars, but a sculpture I did of my daughter's discarded sneaks on the back patio. They sat there for weeks and I just wanted to capture something that really reminded me of her and that summer.
Is there a place for fanfiction of the fanfiction?
One of the things I find unfortunate is that there are so many great stories here that have been abandoned. Many of them close to being finished, but not touched for years. After reading about a dozen of these, I got to wondering if there is a place for fanfiction of the fanfiction?
In other words, wouldn't you like to see SOMEONE give these stories a great finish, even if it is not the original writer. People who would take on such a responsibility would not be trying to "steal" the story or its ideas, but to honor it in the same way we honor Jane.
What do you think?
