Hello. I'm Swagnarok. If you like my stories, it never hurts to leave a comment.

Update: January 5, 2020:

Due to a combination of me beginning graduate school combined with a more professional literary project that will be sapping my time, combined with declining interest over the years due to extremely little reader feedback, consider my long-running "Detective Conan" fanfic series to be on indefinite hiatus from this moment onward.

I regret that I wasn't able to finish this. Any reasonable person would've been able to finish a fanfic series if given more than four years to do so. But in fact, the fact that I dragged this on for so absurdly long is something that I look back on with pride, because my pacing was able to rival that of Gosho Aoyama himself, though the various murder mysteries (along with the occasional non-murder mystery) never even began to approach the level of quality that Gosho has consistently put out for more than a quarter century now.

I started writing this mainly for my own enjoyment, and it was my own enjoyment that fueled me these past few years. But because I was writing for an audience of just one, I gradually succumbed to the lingering question of whether I'm just completely wasting my time with this. Surely this one Japanese cartoon wasn't worth such an enormous devotion of my time and effort. And with nobody to tell me otherwise, my mindset slowly evolved. I think I'm ready to let this go and move on with my life.

If you have been reading these fics, I thank you. It means more to me than you know, that somebody would care enough to patiently wade through these messy, sloppy amateur stories. But with the start of this new decade I'm turning over a new leaf. Which means you can stop reading if you want. In the future I might write some more. Or I might not. Only time will tell.

The sole reason I made this account to begin with was to write and publish fanfics. But maybe it's about time I paid attention to other people's hard work instead. I used to be an avid reader; why did I ever stop? Too much effort, perhaps? But what have I been missing out on? I suppose I have the chance to find out. FF, along with its sister site, is the embodiment of the creative impulses of ordinary people. Ordinary people, if not contemporary Shakespeares, do nonetheless have the capacity to write specifically tailored stories that shine amazingly bright in their own specific contexts. Maybe there are miniature masterpieces of fanfiction brought on by a once-in-a-lifetime sense of inspiration.

So to all of you out there, those of you who perhaps still retain the wide-eyed sense of wonder brought on by writing that I once had, I look forward to seeing what you got. Take that as a challenge to be the best author that you can be.

Alright, peace out.
