Just because I'm tired of people mentioning it because they can't handle a bit of criticism: No, I don't write fanfiction but it doesn't mean that I don't write. Either way though, as someone who's beta'd for several authors and who's been called upon to edit papers and essays that people are turning in for class or using for college entrance, in most cases I know what I'm talking about. I don't at all mean this to sound conceited but it gets a bit annoying hearing the same thing over and over and over again. A person does not have to be a writer to know what good writing is and what good writing takes (that's what editors are for). And let me add a quote from 's own Writer's etiquette:
"Respect the reviewers. Not all reviews will strictly praise the work. If someone rightfully criticizes a portion of the writing, take it as a compliment that the reviewer has opted to spend his/her valuable time to help improve your writing."
RIP Michael Jackson. No matter what people might say about your personal life, you will be missed. May you have the peace in the After Life that you couldn't find in Life.
